    Your vids are very inspirational esp. for city dwellers, who doesn't have outdoor even a patio gardening space. It took a few years to not kill my house plants anymore and this summer, I was able to propagate house plants from cuttings, based on your video. They're all doing great! (This is a big deal for people with black thumbs.) After germinating lemon seeds I got a good feel about it, and so I'm going to try growing some veggies and herbs from seeds watching your other vids. Thanks you!

    Good tips, Diane. I always like planting in a soil combination like that rather than water, too.

    I covered the very first one I tried propagating and it got so moldy I had to throw it away. This is the very first time I ever try propagating, I saw this video and I was so happy that I'd be able to get plants out of my older plants but it hasn't worked the way I thought it would. I repotted all my plants about a month ago and some of the cuttings I took I potted them with the mother plant and those are actually rooting just fine and I'm giving all of them the same water and lighting.

    Good video Diane. I have two house plants that I've always called a variegated philodendron it has a lot of green leaves then some that are mostly white. It belonged to my mother so I try to keep it going, whenever it gets too big I propagate new ones.

    want to see some magic with those add worm casting 50 , 25 coco core and potting mix. I did not think it does much but it seems to cause an explosion in growth vs the standard mix. Plus the roots get super green and thick ;) That with using casting tea 3 to 1 with 5 to 1 as a leaf spray. Amazing results really shocked me. The only trouble is they quickly take over the house.

    Hi Diane! Thanks so much for posting this. I have a pothos plant my Mom gave me two years ago - it's the first plant I have ever kept alive for such a long time. I named him Osiris, because he has come back from the dead at least 3 times, seriously. Anyway, I am going to prune him and plant the cuttings, in the hopes of filling my house with these lovely plants - it's the first time I have ever done anything like this, and your video has given me some confidence - I think I can manage to maintain these plants now, and have a whole bunch of them cleaning the air here in our house. Thank you for your channel - I love it! BTW, where do you get your trays and domes? I am about to go to Walmart to see if I can find some, but in case I don't, please tell me where you get the trays with lids. Also, do you poke holes in the lids or can I safely put the lid on and leave it that way. I am very inexperienced, so sorry if this is a silly question. Thanks again! :D

    • @dianemummvideos
      @dianemummvideos  8 років тому +1

      thank you for the nice comment.. you can find these trays anywhere really where there is gardening supplies.. I do leave the lid on but you want to check it daily and don't over wet it for too long.. You can always air it out if it seems to wet.. good luck!

    Great video. Could I ask if you could do a video on how to take a plant that is pretty thin(I have a pothos that is) and make it fuller? I have a pothos that I over watered for a while when I first got it. It died down to about 1/4 its size but I've learned proper watering and it pretty healthy now, even sprouting small leaves. So what could I do to help it get fuller? Trim some of the longer shoots and root them for adding later maybe?

    Hi Diane, I an propergating pothos plant. They seem to be doing fine wrapped in cling wrap. I have noticed that there are some cracks or tears in one of the leaves. Wanting to know why that is happening. Also in propergating does the soil always need to be damp or do I let the soil dry then water? Last question, Do you think its a good idea to put freshley cut pothos clippings into water storing gel beads? Thank you for your time!

      I use a mix of peat, perlite and bark, houseplant soil can work as well.. you don't want it too heavy of soil.. the trays are 1020 trays.. they are usually 1.3 bucks depending on where you live, but you can use anything to grow them in..

    I have a long Devil's Ivy a friend gave to me, I think the same as your pothes, and wanted to know if it is safe for me to cut from the end. There are long sections without leaves, but the plant is a few years old, and I've been growing it in water. Is it safe to cut from the end? Also, would you suggest to switch to soil instead of water? It's been growing from a large cup that I always have filled with water and the roots are good and always under shade but the plant continues to grow.

    Hi.. thank you this video! It is very helpful! I recently transplanted my Pothos, not only to a larger pot, but split the larger plant into several smaller plants and placed those into separate pots. Something went tragically wrong and/ or I caused a ton of damage. They are all turning yellow, wilting and appear to be dying! I don't want them to die, PLEASE help fix this! Is there anything I could do nurse my plants back to health?

      I kept in the dome until I seen plenty of roots on each cutting.. transplant when you tug the plant from the soil and it is reluctant to pull out..You can always dig down also and check the root formation..

    • @joshferr3110
      @joshferr3110 9 років тому +2

      Oh good lord yes! These are terrible plants to have if you have pets. Depending on how much they eat it can kill them. I believe the Philodendron is the worse of the two. Calcium oxalate is the harmful chemical responsible. If you have kids also be watchful of them being around the plant.

    • @samlee2562
      @samlee2562 6 років тому +1

      Yeah the best way to stop loved ones eating them is to just leave them at the garden centre or give them to a friend...

      You should let the soil dry out before watering. Though pothos can root in water, they don't like being waterlogged in a pot. Water well, and let it drain thoroughly. Then you can probably go a week, maybe longer depending on the size of your pot, before you need to water again.

    where can one get the silver philo? I've never seen one before, and I live in the boonies of Northern Ontario lol! any idea? Local greenhouses have nada. :( I want to cut back my split-leaf philodendron, but am terrified of killing it.@_@(also VERY hard to find)

    I let my cuttings float in my fish tank until roots show then put them in soil. Works every time for me.
