    Well done on your efforts Matt, it will be worth it once completed- keep strong. My father repaired his 28’ cabin cruiser over two years 1970/72 and it was brilliant when completed. Durban, South Africa.

    Bon Courage with the Project, Matt. We have the 32' model of the type which I have renovated and modified into a fully fledged sailing version of the brand.
    Feel free to read up on what I did to accomplish this in my June, 2020 article in PBO.
    For now I can say, that if you have any intention of actually sailing this boat, I highly recommend that you give the rudder a NACA profile and, as in a capital and, fair in the deadwood. CWs have significant steering problems both under sail and power. The fact that the previous owner sought to enlarge the rudder is indicative. Over the years there have been two articles in YM referring to the type's issues with weatherhelm, the last one as an addendum to a Nauticat 33 review in June, 2021. By fairing the deadwood and profiling the rudder these problems can be fixed and you certainly have the skills to do it. Now's the time.
    I would also recalculate the loads on your bobstay. I am quite willing to bet that the existing 6mm(?) chain is too weak for that size headstay. This can be quite simply done (without any maths) by drawing a forces diagram. See Kinney's Elements of Yacht Design, page 173, Fig. 21.
    Best of Luck, A.

    LaminarFlow896 did a brilliant job on his boat. In particular these boats need the undersized flat rudder and wide deadwood sorting out.

    Uhhm 13:23 take some new brass use brass screws and just redo the piece now you got three different metals wich will corrode each other Stainless prone to seizuring aluminum and brass wich with moisture will assuer galvanic corrosion . Just a tip redo and use all brass . further i think the job on the wood railing is awesome would like to see a video on that must have been a lot of research gone into that . Love the shape of the boat i totally get it if the captain fell in love with it :) thx for sharing .

    Whats the hull made of? I sure hope he's not living in that disaster.. the guy could use someone to organize everything so it doesn't resemble a beach after a hurricane.. I bet he spends too much time walking around looking for a tool or material that he needs

    • @BoatzUK
      @BoatzUK  4 місяці тому +1

      The Hull is GRP, and yes it’s organised in our own special filing system 🤣 and yes losing tools and looking for them come as standard, it’s definitely time for a clear up. ⛵️⛵️
