    Did anyone else get up on the roof of the museum, only to find that weird turret geometry?
    Do you remember climbing around to the back of the museum to find a forgotten dev headshot floating there without any text or voice clip?
    Did you ever spot your ship?
    Did you ever manage to get to the top of the tower?

    Great detail and retrospective. On a side note, I didn't even know you could look up and see a clock tower in the distance while standing on the Boldan portal! Looking forward to more content.

    You've practically expressed my thoughts about the Insomniac Museum word-for-word! It's such a wonderful addition to the game. The best way to teach about an interactive medium is through interaction. I'm especially glad you highlighted how important the choice of music was (it's my favourite track in the series too)! I've spent hours roaming around the museum, and the atmosphere is hypnotic.
    I also love when trailers for games are playable themselves. The Stanley Parable is a great example of this. It's a shame games don't use this concept more, although I suppose free demos sort of count.
    By the way, I just stumbled upon your channel and I think you're fantastic. Shooting outside makes for some really engaging backdrops, and your creative transitions are inspired. I love your personality and voice too. If you keep this level of quality up, you're guaranteed to get more popular.

    Thank you so much for introducing me to the developer commentaries by Mike Stout and Tony Garcia! I've watched all of R&C2 and am now making my way through R&C3. Like you said, it's so fascinating to hear about game development from their perspective. Plus they make a great duo.

    The music was perfect for the museum. Atmospheric tracks like these are few and far between in the series. The base in Oltanis Orbit from RaC 1 comes to mind as another powerful atmospheric track while still being in your face.
    Another one that fits perfectly was the Up Your Arsenal's multiplayer menu using the music from Aquatos's sewers.

    The Insomniac Museum used to be a rumor that you could buy or obtain the RYNO I from there because we didn’t know what was behind that teleporter. You also could set the time of the PS2 to 3:00 am to enter the museum. Well hidden because you had to be up at night to discover it legitimately: like an insomniac. UYA was also similar. I remember learning about the museum from GSN/G4 back in the day.
    The other big PS2 rumor I remember was you could obtain the Peacemaker early in Jack II in the strip mine where you rescued Vyn

    Glad I found this channel. I was a lucky kid who played these as they released so naturally I love your reflections on PS2 era RAC. Your thoughts on how the Museum impacted you are on point. Love how they gave us a peek into their jobs and what they did. What they shared and how they shared it was inspiring to me in a low-key way

    Maximum kudos for you for bringing up the song used in the museum! That song is easily my favourite song in the game, so much so that hearing it all these years later reminds me of the Museum first! And Tabora second

    So i knew about the museum in cit but i had no idea there was one in this and going commando. The way to get in is even more insane like i have played this game to death i even used hacks to make me able to fly forever so i could get out of bounds but i had no idea this was there. And what you said at the end i really felt that this hole Easter egg is soo much more than a behind the scenes look.
    Really makes you wish other games would have things like this

    I actually did find the museum through 100%ing the game. I didn't know about the teleporter until a couple years ago and didn't know about the grind rail one until right now

    8:11 The choice of Tabora's Mining Area was IN FACT completely arbitrary: from Mike Stout himself, he picked it up because it was his favorite track from the game.
    Very good work on the video otherwise, looking forward to more :)
    Out of curiosity, where did you find the album cover? And where did the audio files that you showcase come from? I found Lunatics' profile on VGBoxArt but the covers he made don't match the ones you have. I ripped all tracks from the PSVita HD Collection, and made a repack out of them a while ago to have a better quality that UA-cam->MP3 stuff, but I'm curious if there are other and better quality sources than that. (and I sure as hell would love to have that neat cover art)

    • @DeeperNobody
      @DeeperNobody 3 роки тому

      Would be neat to have the tracks in better quality than youtube. Any chance you could share them?

    • @VersionGamma
      @VersionGamma  3 роки тому +3

      The album cover was custom, I made them a while back by splicing together elements from Lunatics' work. As for the soundtrack, I couldn't tell you, although it's probably ripped from one of the many releases of the game. I know that some of the developers have uncompressed originals that they can't share (I think Tony Garcia might have said in a video he had a copy at one point), but given we can't get them, disc rips are probably the best we'll get.

    Really liked that vid! The museum (mostly RaC 3's though) is my favorite easter egg and the most impacting memories I have of rac. I'm always so happy to see videos about it!
    If I had one criticism, it'd be about the audio balance - mostly about the OST extract which was too loud. It's nice to make it louder than when you use it as a background music for when you're talking, but I think you went a bit too loud there. But hey, that's my only complaint about the video and it's a nitpick, so still a great job overall imo!

  • @Bordpie
    @Bordpie 2 роки тому

    I guess I'm in the minority since I accessed the museum through the teleporter (without changing the playstation clock). Not sure if I found it the first time around on the PS2 with a copy my friend lent me in 2011-12, but played through the whole series on PS3 last year.
    I knew the thing existed but not sure where. I randomly found the teleporter while exploring and I must have been really lucky if it's only there for a minute at 3AM, since I got in straight away. And no I didn't stay up late especially, my sleeping pattern was particularly bad then. It's half midnight as I write and that's not bad for me.

    Am i the only one to access it by climbing the stack of crates when you take the elevator after the "supposed" entry via teleporter ?
    Then you can walk out of bounce and and go under to jump inside the lone building like you show.

    Try to talk a tad slower in these. I rewound 5:05 several times and can't tell what you said. "wattalinger boss?" This came up in the reused music video at one point as well, but I was eventually to discern the syllables.

    • @VersionGamma

      Yeah that's what that's saying, and you're right, it's been an ongoing issue. Quite a bit of this video was re-recorded because my accent tends to turn my scripts into a mumbly mess, so it's not an issue I'm unaware of. Hopefully it'll improve in time.
