My name is Deirdre which is very difficult for Americans to pronounce. I've been called everything from "Dee-dra" to Desiree to Jennifer. My favourite pronunciation was "Der-ee-der-ee"!🤣
I’m so in love with the concept of this channel. Irish names, myths, legends, folklore I’m in love😭❤️
I’d love to hear the full story of Eithne. I’m excited for your video on Irish stories. Been hoping you would do one. The way you explain these names is fantastic. Love your channel!
I’d love a video on old Irish myths.
I'm an American of Irish decent and my name derives from Aisling. I have always loved it. It's frustrating so many people mispronounce it but I still love it. Love your videos!
This is so wonderful of you to do, and you do it very well. Thank you😎
Thank you so much for the channel! I'm really interested in Irish culture, history, stories, language ect. Will be so happy to see it if you cover anything more about any of them! I'm currently most curious about the pronounciation rules of Irish cuz it seems to be so changable and it's aboviously not sound as it's spelled as the English rules go😂😂Btw I quite like the way you say County Down😉😉
My daughter Éilish was delighted to see her name, and my daughter Kate, but I have an Aoife too and we thought for sure she'd be in there!
I love your videos and can't wait for the folklore one 😊
Hi, Aoife couldn't be here because... this name was a year ago already :) Check this video, Aoife is at 1:05 ua-cam.com/video/Lam-HQoNYKU/v-deo.html
she had Aoife in her first irish girl names-video!
I really love watching your videos, they're so informative! Would you be able to do one with the baby name "Áinle"?
Yaaay, my name 😀😀😀 Bridget. I would love to hear Irish mythology
My husband and I are doing IVF & implanting a girl. If we get lucky enough to have her we are naming her Fionnuala because of this video. Ty!!! Xoxo
Wishing you lots of luck and good vibes! 💗 💗 💗
Always liked the name Fionnuala... Knew someone whose mom was called Fionnuala Finnegan which I thought was brilliant, love a bit of alliteration
This Fionnuala hopes your baby arrived safely and was named Fionnuala too. There’s far too few of us around and it is a lovely name with a great history.
Thank you!!! Éilis never comes up in these Irish name videos and when it does it gets mixed up and mashed into Eilís (Eye-leesh) and it's infuriating, especially when Eilís is the more popular of the two in the southwest. Wondering if you can confirm my own understanding, knowledge and experience on these two very similar but different names;
Éilis (Ay-lish) is the Irish translation of 'Alice' (anglicised spelling is 'Ailish')
Eilís (Eye-leesh) is the Irish translation of 'Elizabeth' (anglicised spelling is 'Eilish')
Honestly just grew up thinking these two names existed and the Éilís' and Eilis' of the world were just these two names that got mixed up along the way! haha!
You even got my sister right, Eibhlín!
in my book i used Aisling For my Daughter i love this name it's so powerfulyl meaning and mastery and celtic Saga
Dierdre was the name of my dog when I rescued her from the shelter as a puppy, and I told her that she was far from a Deirdre, so she got re-christened to Daisy❤️ she might be reverting to being a sorrowful Deirdre now at 13.... or maybe she’s just a grumpy old lady 😂
Very nice. Thank you.
This Nora thanks you for this video!😊
Great video, thank you. It's very useful. Would you make a video about St. Patrick's Day and all traditions connected with it? I'd love to watch it.
I'm so glad you suggested that! I've just done this video, it's going up tomorrow 😀💗

Great to learn about the origin of our granddaughter’s name, Nora. Btw, you don’t have an Irish accent but an American one. I’m curious about that.

My great auntie always called me Sorcha (Sur a ca) when I was little. I wish it would have stuck because Sarah is kind of dime a dozen.
