Nice video, Greg. I'm pausing at the 19-minute mark to post this comment. PLEASE re-think grinding the rivet heads for putty and sanding. The body of Pop Rivets is only thin "sheet metal" and any grinding down of the head(s) will compromise its connection to the stem/mandrel holding the Cement Boards to the stringers. Best leave the rivet heads unmolested with little/no putty over them before paint. They're not like the countersunk solid rivets holding my airplane wing skins to their stringers. Those slug rivets are inserted then squeezed, the slug being deformed into the countersink in the wing skin, then the head shaved off flush with the wing skin surface. The "head" of the rivet above the skin/countersink surface is inconsequential to fastener strength, and is detrimental to aerodynamics so it is shaved off; not so with your Pop Rivets where the head above the cement board surface IS its strength....re-think this, please.
@PATRICKMCKILLIP thanks for the concern and comment. They followed the same process for the entire ceiling in the house. I will keep my fingers crossed.
wow, what a difference with putting a ceiling in the dirty kitchen area. love the lights. I also love the idea of putting screening around the bottom of the windows for Prince protection.
All good! All your vids are thorough and great. We're just sitting here in the USA wishing we were there lol Looking forward to returning, retiring there. Simple life Thanks again Cocoa Beach FL USA
beautiful skies ! Rain is good , Rivet and not self tapping screws? i think they do not want a screw head protruding , well it looks great! the slider door is a best idea! will look excellent, the molding trim over the joints is fast and final , a good ,easy, dustless solution
Time for the 3M mask and the hi suction shop-vac, looks like the floor has been through construction! LOL Not a dirty kitchen. Good video, Wilma and Greg...Jim
Why a rivet gun and not screws? Hardie recommends self tapping screws and rivets are just so time consuming and I usually notice they have to use a grinder to knock down the metal crown to make them flush. - Also no control joints to prevent movement cracking? Should be a 6mm control joint for every 9M run. Make sure they use the proper perforated paper tape for your joints and the proper Hardie putty.
Good afternoon Greg and Wilma. Loved what you are doing in the dirty kitchen, but I have 2 questions for you. 1) you mentioned you’re going to use PVC molding down the center of the hardy flex. Couldn’t you use compound like how we use it in the US to joint the seems on what we use on our drywall? 2) Notice the trusses that going across your exterior wall in the dirty kitchen, after you put up your hardy flex, are they going to put something up to keep birds and rodents out from nesting above your dirty kitchen? Hope to hear your responses in your next video. Have a great day.
@clivebrownbill9310 skim coat here is like joint compound. Don't want to coat ceiling with joint compound, way too much dust and time to sand. We wipe place screen at the end of the project.
I wonder if using a product like KILZ primer might be easier to prep the rivets to receive the ceiling paint? I would think grinding the rivets would weaken their integrity. Maybe you meant just roughing the surface of the rivet to receive paint?
is it a problem in this part of the philippines where animals take residences in attic of houses. and related to this question is the ceiling you are working on now will be totally sealed.
Relax we don’t or shouldn’t expect a Spielberg production! This is UA-cam!
Meh 🫤 speak for yourself😝😝😝he could drink Red Bull -it gives you wings 😁😎
And s building the philippines production. Low budget film. Lol.
Even my coffee didn't help. Just wasn't my day.

@jamesnichols2511 definitely making it more part of the house. Prince proof !!!
Looking great Greg and Wilma
Thank you, appreciate it

I think the cement board and screws would be an issue. They rivet here. Maybe if the board was thicker. Can't wait to be done.
no problem Greg, your content is interesting enough that any interruptions are ok I am sure with most of us that follow your vlogs....
Appreciate that, it was one of those days.
Dude, We all have those weeks! No biggie! Don't sweat it! In Canada, there wise old saying....shit happens!Just try to stay safe! 😊😊😊
Couldn't get a sentence out correctly that day. Appreciate the comment.
Prince got you going on an additional project hah 😂looking good 👍 😊
He's a handful, wants to play all the time.
The ceiling in the dirty kitchen looks great, and when it is finished and painted will be nice and bright there
@steveperyer4850 yes, dust, bug, leaves and lizard free as well. We are going to call it the clean kitchen.

I gave the guys safety glasses and masks. They wore for one day and stopped. Construction rubble and dust is brutal.

No one uses screws with ceiling hardi board here.
@@buildingthephilippines I wouldn't allow that to happen on my project.
Opinions vary. Never seen that used here. Did you use screws in your home build in the Philippines for 3.5mm hardi board?

Hi 👋 U2! Looks good 👍. Back wall space between the top of it & roof space? Metal screens to keep out birds etc? A thought 💭. Blessings 🙏🌺🌸🌼
Yes, we need to look into that. Thanks for watching.
Regarding the screen, I'd rather install security screen instead, because if 2 layers, it's impossible to clean in between
@achakco8759 I powerwash it and it cleans up pretty easy. Security screen here is $80 usd a panel. Pretty expensive. Thanks for commenting.

Grinding of rivets is done here all the time. Never seen any KiLZ products on this island.
Time for a bloopers video? 😂🤣
People think making videos is easy. It's the content of the videos we watch, Greg. Just do what you can. 👍
@@jerrymarshall2728 blooper video would be fun. Would need to bleep out some audio. Lol.
Is this how you did your ceilings inside the house? Did you use the Hardie board?
Yes, all our ceilings are hardi board.
Can that cement board be finished off on the seams like drywall?
Yes, you can tape it, then they use putty, final step skim coat. Long process.
Had you considered doing a Dogg door?
No, would be a lot of chipping through concrete and rebar.
Hi to the two of you. We are just starting with our house project. And I do have a lot of questions. How can we getbin contact? Thanks Ines&Chris
Best to email at buildingthephilippines@gmail.com, good luck with your building project.
Where in the Ph is this?
Negros Oriental
@@buildingthephilippines thank you!!!

The house is sealed, but dirty kitchen is still open on the backside. Need to install screen back there.
