- The Dayton Arcade is temporarily open for Holly Days for the holiday season. A Dayton, Ohio landmark since the early 1900s visit it while you can during this 3 day event.
It is really cool they opened the Dayton Arcade for the holidays. The glass ceiling atrium is a beautiful. The Tank is a really cool little entertainment venue. The market looks like a popular place too. Thanks for sharing the festivities with us!
The market is really popping in the summer. First time I've been there this time of year.
Such a cool place Love the log wall!! I really love Christmas carolers!! Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome!
What a beautiful building, that rotunda was just amazing. It's nice to see that they're trying to keep something like that preserved, it would be so cool to see them try and find a year-round purpose for it. I loved the Tank, reminded me almost like an old time jazz club or coffee house. Nice little treasure you have there in Dayton!!!
In its heyday it was the focal point of the city. Filled with shops and restaurants. The move of people's attention to the suburbs and malls in the 70s-90s put it under. There have been many failed attempts to restore and revitalize it over the years. The current plans are the most promising yet. I actually have a great grandfather that owned and operated a shoe store that was on this block (not in the Arcade and rotunda itself but on the city block that the complex is located).
@@TheTolleRoad Four generations? That's a really amazing history you have with Dayton! 😊
What a treat. You had some great info, and I especially loved seeing the performers and the art displays. Dayton looks like a festive place to be.
Dayton is without question or rival the greatest place on earth.
What an amazing building, that rotunda looks really cool! It shows how much craftsmanship went into a place like that. And the Tank would be really fun to see a small concert there too. Dayton looks like a really cool place. I need to visit the city, hopefully next year as I expand my horizons🤞
Let me know if you make it down this way.
Hey Tolle, Cool trip....I haven't been in the Arcade in decades. If anyone ever leaves the window open in the art gallery, the "Whole Belly" is going to be full of bird nests ;>} There was a time when there were a lot of people around the Arcade talking to themselves.
😂 ain't that the truth! Let's just say I'm not the first person to drink a beer in that building.
Cool looking building, I think they opened it up for Tolle Days.
I guess I have more clout than I thought
Fun place to go for the holidays and talk to yourself 😂👍
At least I wasn't arguing with myself!
@@TheTolleRoad that’s a great way to shorten a line 😂
Beautiful landmark, hardly recognized you dressed up! 🙂
I was in disguise
@@TheTolleRoad Yea you were 😉
Wow beautiful place. Shame it's not open very often. Tolle cleans up nicely!
Give it a few years and hopefully it will be back to being vibrant.
Beautiful building and we enjoyed the tour. The rotonda is stunning and you would think they would hole more events there than just the one. We enjoyed seeing some of the other places such as the art gallery and concert venue. I think these areas are open more often? Also like the market tour. Thanks for bringing us along.
The place is still a work in progress. An Italian restaurant just opened a few months ago and there are plans for a lot more.
I have never been to the Dayton Arcade. I am going to have to check it out. The wall of knots was interesting 🙂
It was a pretty popular place up until about the mid 80s. Kind of fell into disrepair and was vacant for years and years. There have been several attempt to restore it but this is the best progress they've had.
Happy "holly days," for sure! Best of all, it's inside!
You got that right! Dry and warm
I'm from the Dayton area and I always find new and interesting things in the Dayton area I never knew about on your channel! Great video. I also always get weird looks filming myself in public, your attitude at 6:53 is great 😂
Try yelling "Big Bite" in a crowded room one day and see the looks you get.
That was fantastic. I always wanted to see the inside of that building. Hopefully it will happen again next year if so let me know when. Also great job filming that amazing architecture so it lives forever.
They've done it the last few years so I suspect it will be back next year. Seemed like there was a decent crowd there.
That is a fun event, is the Arcade open for other stuff throughout the rest of the year? Who cares if people look at you talk, you should see them look at me, lets just say, most Santa beards aren't as good as mine 😂😂 Picture that one 😉
lol... giving old Santa a run for his money huh? Right now it is very limited in when it is opened. It is a 9 building complex so parts of it are open and other parts are still in the remodeling phase. The University of Dayton has opened an area called "The Hub" and an Italian Restaurant has recently opened. I expect more development there over the next few years.
Look at you all dressed up in a button down. I thought you only wore Hawaiian shirts. Really pretty area there. I bet it gets hot there for the summer.
Wonder if they also have small play productions there at the Tank? I stay away from the art stuff cause I’m afraid Rosalie will break something. UA-cam 💰 is not enough.
Rosalie? Try you're afraid that Carl is going to break something! lol
@@TheTolleRoad Very true
