I can’t help but laugh at the fact that Mrs. Steinmetz doesn’t care that Herbie is driving extremely reckless 😂😂😂😂all she thinks is that it’s a short cut to Vern’s Market 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I must have watched this movie- and the other Herbie movies -a hundred times as a kid. I think I appreciate all the subtle humor so much more now. Though the way Hawk's voice goes funny as he says "Sheraton Palace Hotel" is funny to me no matter how old or young I am.
Arguably the single best part of Rides Again. Herbie theme mixed with a car chase. Almost as good as racing (not really, but in Rides Again, you take what you can get). Not to mention the arrangement of the Herbie theme during those up-ramp scenes is fantastic - wish it had an OST release.
cassandra cruz I think he’s the car equivalent of a dog. He’s reliable and vigorously defends his driver. As far as her saying she’ll call Mr. Honest Al, that tells me Herbie just wants a forever home 🏠👨👩👦👦🚗
Did you know? Helen Hayes actually got a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in this movie! Love her as Mrs. Steinmetz. Makes me think of my grandma.
I love how Mrs. Steinmetz doesn't care about what's happening throughout this scene. All we know is, that every place Herbie goes, does only one thing Mrs. Steinmetz knew, a shortcut to the market. What's got me in this scene is when Herbie drives at the bridge, the cables on the Golden Gate Bridge 🤣🤣🤣
I have a volkswagen, a kafer, and she told me that she loves Herbie very much, but that is not surprising. Their next of kin.😄.😆. I always enjoyed the Herbiefilms very much, they are top🔝.
Funny you should say eyes of a hawk. She works for Alonzo Hawk. It’s also funny that later in the movie someone calls HAWK an old BUZZARD & earlier he’s called a no good coyote. Coyotes & hawks are similar. They live in the same kinds of areas & prey on the same kinds of animals.
Chippermonkey33 did you know that they didnt use the actual bridge but they did use a herbie to be pulled up the set :fun fact the herbie that was used actually fell off the set and exploded due to a faulty gear that was used in the pulley mechanics
The first two Love Bug movies are my favorite. The others are ok to me, but the 1997 Love Bug remake actually made me sick when Herbie was brutally killed by Horace The Hate Bug. That movie was just plain wrong to me and Walt Disney would have never made such a picture. It just goes to show how much the world changed over the years and how much Disney as a corporation changed as well. I miss the original vision of Walt Disney and his company because if Walt was alive today, I believe he would fire everyone running the company.
Also Herbie Fully Load as much as I like it has WAY too many things wrong with it, starting with Lindsay Lohan not being the right fit for him. Too much CGI for the face, and his engine doesn't have that characteristic roar like it did in the original Love Bug films, the 1997 Remake, and the T.V. Series from the 80s. Changing him to a street racer was border line tolerable, but changing him to a NASCAR was just outright wrong.
you know, watching the original movies and then watching fully loaded feels like an entirely different experience. seriously, the tone and feel of fully loaded is extremely different compared to the old films. please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this
Sure driving up the bridge cables was impressive, but that first bit of action with Herbie climbing a wall/cliff to get around the roadblock was cool as well.
Matthew Let's play/chat I have a diecast model of Herbie from the Monte Carlo movie. The custom tires he had were Goodyear GT radial tires. Since he was competing in a road race in that movie he needed Goodyear’s since Goodyear tires are used for racing
He had those Goodyear gt radial tires in Herbie goes to monte carlo and Herbie goes bananas then he goes back to his stock tires in the Herbie the love bug tv series
The man who asks hawks lawyers for the reservation, is he the same actor who played the captains right hand man in Herbie goes bananas? Also, that extra light on Herbies bumper is it a disguised camera?
There are two '73s in the mix, though they show up alternately. When they box Herbie in, the 4-door at the far left is a '73. Note the thicker and wider spaced bumperettes. Main bumper also sits farther forward to comply with the 5MPH bumper laws. Later on, the a '73 two door shows up as the last car in the parking lot scene - and I believe that's the case in that super-quick outdoor approach shot at the beginning of the chase. My guess is that there are really six cars here, probably leased from Ford's film and TV division - three used on soundstage, three on location. Probably shot all on the same week with two different crews. Also notice the interior shot car has to be a '65 or older Lincoln. The '72-73s didn't have a package tray that dipped into the seats.
I’m sure they noticed him but I guess that they didn’t really care because they were to busy with there expensive meals. Besides he was being a gentlemen while walking through “tHe SHeRAToN PALaCe HOTel”
They just used 2 other cars as a ramp and flew across the air over to another building at the other end and she's more worried about her glasses falling off Lol
My question since when does restaurant have 2 big doors big enough for a vehicle to go through them and since when is it big enough for the car to go through Lol its weird how a lot of people don't question why a car is just randomly driving through the place and how do they manage to get out the back Lol
Il concessionario della Mercedes più di un anno fa con la nuova Smart elettrica mi ha fatto fare lo stesso percorso di Herbie quando viene intrappolato dagli avvocati di Alonzo Hawke
History Fact: The Palace Hotel is where President Warren G. Harding was residing on his return journey from Alaska, after becoming the first President there while in Office. He unfortunately died there on the 8th floor in 1923.
Grazie a tutti i supermercati presso i quali sono andato a fare la spesa dal 1993 scorso che vendevate i prodotti alimentari che mi piacciono tantissimo
Mrs. Steinmetz's oblivious of what exactly is going on is staggering. If you were a car and being chased by a CEO's flunkies, would you drive up a bridge? Of course, Herbie couldn't drive into the Fairmont.

Bringing back childish memories, even though I was born 32 years after it came out, I still loved this movie as a kid.
I'm almost as old as this movie was when I first watched it as a kid! Man it makes me feel so old 🤣🤣
Lol, you're still a kid to most of us XD

Herbie to those other 2 Beetles : Guys I need your help to clear this jump.
Those two Beetles : Sure Herbie, no problem.
That was a nice model shot using off the shelf VW Beatle models.
Like how the grandma is like chill
I mean, Ms. Steinmetz trusts Herbie
She probably knows what's going on but knows herbie will keep her unharmed😂
While Herbie drives him self and she is doing the paperwork
Wq35
she's so cool

SAME
Yeah
Just love how Mrs stimats is completely oblivious and just considers this a normal day for her how many times has Herbie needed to take a "short cut"
Steinmetz and herbie are the perfect duo herbies so protective of her loved this movie when I was a kid :)
Herbie might be crazy, but he is very brave, fast and strong.
cassandra cruz I think he’s the car equivalent of a dog. He’s reliable and vigorously defends his driver.
As far as her saying she’ll call Mr. Honest Al, that tells me Herbie just wants a forever home 🏠👨👩👦👦🚗
That's why I like him

I like how Herbie used other bugs for a ramp
Looks like he’s following in General Lee’s wheels
He did it….twice this and the other one

Three Lincoln Continentals! They look like mafia cars to me!

WHERE IS SHE NOW?!
She's still going up and up. It's incredible. She's driving like a mad man.
😂
That’s so funny

Herbie chose a pretty classy place to go. He knows his restaurants.
i know it's quite randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to stream newly released series online?
@Jesse Kingston Lately I have been using Flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Jesse Kingston I use Flixzone. Just search on google for it =)

Millicent must have the eyes of a hawk if she can see Herbie on the bridge (even on the cables) at that distance.
She can see in 4k 1080p UltraHD
Chippermonkey33 I always did wonder what she was referring to when I watched this movie as a kid.

Herbie goes bananas of 1980 was awesome. Anything after that didn't count.
We need a New Herbie Movie, he needs to come and save us from the 2020s
I know right ❤
Final someone gets it. 🤩
I like to see Ron Howard direct a new Herbie film.
Agreed.
It should be called herbie: back in action
you know, watching the original movies and then watching fully loaded feels like an entirely different experience. seriously, the tone and feel of fully loaded is extremely different compared to the old films. please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this
I feel the same way too
yap, fully loaded was for another and forgetable generation, this films are for all generations.
That’s exactly what I thought when I first saw Fully Loaded. They completely overdid the CGI on Fully Loaded!!
Fully Loaded is best non cannon.

He was built in 1963
I just love that happy tune as she’s driving to the grocery store lol classic
01:26 It couldn't have been easy to go so fast in the corners so tight with such big Lincoln Continentals.
I can't believe it, I actually like this movie despite the fact that I'm an 80's guy.

0:50 how did they attempt that effect?
2:29 i keep coming back to this part to think why the guests don't care about a sentient Volkswagen driving in across the restaurant
typical car chases from 70's

Yes, there is obvious matte work and blue screen, but this scene is STILL great:)

Negative. A little premature, I'm afraid, Sir. She's obviously a very desperate woman. But don't worry, she won't make it this time.
i only came here to relive my childhood memories and now i’m obsessed again
Herbie Rides Again is a Thomas story, and it's also the name of the 1974 Disney film.
The man who asks hawks lawyers for the reservation, is he the same actor who played the captains right hand man in Herbie goes bananas?
Also, that extra light on Herbies bumper is it a disguised camera?

'72 Lincoln Town Cars.

No, I think he's the third one in line on the Golden Gate Bridge.
