      Hi Gail. Thanks for watching. Yes, the table design is a little clunky. Julie spends most of her time at the table and I (Sean) spend most of my time in the theater seating. I really like the theater seating. 90% of my time in the RV is spent in those seats.

      One of the advantages of both he 27-5L and the 29-5T is that both the kitchen and the bathroom are accessible with the slides in.

      txshirle absolutely! Big factor for me. I think the floor plans vs size really give you the best bang for the buck. I want sturdy and larger tanks for boondocking.

Also, make sure you join the Arctic Fox Owners Group on Facebook. Lots of good info gets passed on that group. Congrats on your purchase and safe travels!

    Nice. I love your unit. Very sharp guys. The only advise I can give you on the shower leaking assuming it’s the glass is seal the out side only. Do not seal the inside at all. Long story but only out side. Also us a product call geo cell 2300 clear. It drys sort of rubbery and flex’s better than silicone which dose not usually last long.

    Hi, I've noticed several configurations but yours is the first I've seen with the recliners & the table/chairs. Did you pick that particular set up ? Most I have seen have the table/chairs with the sofa, I believe my preference would still be for the bench style seating & the recliners just for the fact I'm concerned with the chairs moving around during the trip although I know you've stated otherwise. Also I own a F350 short bed, would you suggest a slider hitch or has AF designed the cap with adequate clearance ?
    Thanks in advance.

    • @ChickerysTravels
      @ChickerysTravels  2 роки тому

      Hello! We purchased ours with the table/chairs and recliners. The recliners were an option from the factory. We would definitely recommend a slider hitch. There is an Arctic Fox Owners Group on FB that you can join (even if you don't own one yet). The other owners in there are great at answering questions. I'm sure there are some who have short bed trucks.

    I'm curious as to whether or not you've done much winter camping? I've been able to survive down to -24F with my old 2012 Keystone Laredo 5th wheel with space heaters, furnace (my underbelly is ducted to keep it above freezing), and a custom RV skirt installed. I'd bet it yours would do much better.

    • @ChickerysTravels
      @ChickerysTravels  4 роки тому

      Hi Mark! Thanks! We have a Chevy 3500 HD - - that’s a diesel dually. We already had it when we purchased this RV. It pulls like a charm. You can find custom RV mattresses at the large RV shows like Tampa and Hershey. Also all around Elkhart Indiana are folks who sell custom RV stuff.

    • @txshirle
      @txshirle 4 роки тому +1

      I have a 2019 27-5L. I can tell you the mattress is fine but the support for the mattress is inadequate. AF uses a metal frame with webbing and there is not enough support for the webbing. Some owners add additional metal under the webbing or wooden boards on top of the webbing.

    Three unrelated questions. Still a new to this, so not sure how to phrase this. How heavy is the trailer? Like how much of your truck's payload does it take up? (I know they talk about tongue weight with travel trailers, but I'm not sure if it's the same on fifth wheels).
    Did it come with one of those grills off the back bumper? I saw one at an RV show and they didn't look like normal BBQ grills.
    Also, with CPAP, how hard is it on the RV battery (in terms of power use)? Do you use a humidifier?

    • @ChickerysTravels
      @ChickerysTravels  3 роки тому

      Hi. Your first couple of questions can get quite complicated. We actually have a video that breaks it down for the Arctic Fox 27-5L. You can watch it at this link: ua-cam.com/video/JaNdB2vFPMk/v-deo.html
      The grills you talk about are designed to connect in to the propane quick connect for the RV. I am not aware that any manufacturers add them at the factory. They are usually after market products. They are convenient and, if you like to grill, are one good option for RVers although they can be pricey ($300-$400).
      The CPAP has been no problem. I bought a 12 volt plug for mine and it works great in the RV. I do not use the humidifier, but I don't think that would change much as far as the power set up goes. I think it may use more of your batteries if you run it off 12 volt, but that would be the only difference.
      Let us know if you have any other questions!

    I also have a 27-5L. Does anyone have any advice about a kitchen sink that does not drain. I talked to mfr and tried everything they advised. Snaked all the pipes including the air vent with no results.

    Hi and thanks for the great video. We are looking for a replacement for our Forest River Rockwood 5th wheel and, like you, would like to keep it under 30'... and no slide on the door side, easier said than done! We are leaning toward the AF but don't like a few things on it, I wonder if you can comment on these:
    1. there seems to be a rather large gap at the top of the door from the bedroom to the bathroom, does that bother you? have you ever found why it's there?
    2. my wife doesn't like the look of the top step from the bedroom to the main area looks like it's sort of cut off and there is no handrail.
    3. the dump valves seem in a rather inconvenient location. Do you have a problem with them?
    4. the freshwater fill is on the wrong side of the trailer. Does that cause you problems?
    5. like you, we think the mirror would have to go! :)
    Thanks again and safe travels.

      Hi there!
      1. Yes, large gap in that door both top and bottom, but doesn’t really bother us. No idea why they did it that way. It is weird.
      2. Our last fifth wheel didn’t have a hand rail so I never really thought about it.
      3. The dump valves aren’t inconvenient to us. They are under the RV so I have to bend down, but otherwise fine.
      4. It is weird that the fresh water fill is in the opposite side, but we just toss our long hose under the RV and it reaches fine.

      It was the cooling unit on the refrigerator. They would have replaced it, but the factory was closed due to the pandemic so we didn't want to wait. The shower was leaking at the bottom of the pan. We resealed it twice and the second time worked. You can look at the Chevy towing guide to see if it could safely tow it. I'll add the link here. Also, you can join the Arctic Fox Owners Group in Facebook and ask if anyone has the Chevy 2500 HD Diesel currently. Chickery's Travels do you feel you would be fine with a 3/4 ton truck? Or a 4 wheel one ton?

      I’m not sure. I’d check ou this towing guide based on total loaded weight. www.trailerlife.com/trailer-towing-guides/

    Finally Subscribed! Definitely the unit # 1 on our list of possible future homes. Any chance I could get the dimensions of the bedroom slide-out bathroom closet? Curious to know if a small portable Washer might fit in the space. I am thinking shower as a water source is close and might possibly be tapped into. Any thoughts appreciated!

      No, we had W/D hookups in our last RV and never installed one so it wasn’t even on our list this time around.

    We looked at the af29-5k. For the longest time. The only issue still came down to is where will the wife quilt at? Lol
