She was perfect for the role and as Wendy Darling too. Starfire's V.A. has some big shoes to fill taking over for Kathryn.

What a fantastic actress, when you compare the film to the animation it's such a shame they didn't capture her expressions and movements. They were a level far above the animation which looked stilted in comparison. I would have loved it if they did it live action instead.

She was absolutely perfect for that character. Personally I think Walt Disney should have done a live action version of the story. It would show how insanely talented and perfect Kathryn Beaumont was. Now I can see them making an animated version if the voice actors didn't look the part, and only sounded the part. If you look at the film they made of the voice actors acting the scenes out in costume, you already see all the parts were already perfectly cast. Especially in Kathryn's case. The characters the artists came up with could've been used as reference to fine tune the costumes for the designers. I mean at the time Walt Disney Studios was the top when it came to special effects for fantasy films. Good example: look at what they did with Darby O'Gill and the little people. I think they could've done it and very well too, if it had been live action. Walt already had the perfect Alice, like she stepped right out of the book. They animated movie was and is a classic, but I think a live action version with her as Alice was a no brainier. It could've quite possibly ended up becoming the definitive version of the Alice story. Even could have won Disney who knows how many Oscars. I hate they overlooked the idea. Kathryn you were and always will be the definitive Alice.

Ms Kathryn Beaumont, one of Disney’s first child actors. Whereas the likes of Bobby Driscoll and Luanne Patton mainly did live action work, Kathryn did voice acting for both her works, starting with Alice in Wonderland. Bobby however did voicing with the other role Kathryn starred in. All 3 had their great roles with Disney, but after the mid 50’s they worked with other studios, or did other stuff in their lives. Bobby faced tragedy by losing more opportunities, and therefore fell into financial troubles before passing away in 1968. Luanne lived for another good several decades before passing in 1996, the year I was born. Kathryn is still alive today, and while she was still the voice of her characters until 2005, it was mainly Alice who made the sporadic appearances since Wendy didn’t appear as much as Peter Pan; Kathryn is also an inspiring school teacher.
