Congrats!!!!!!!! That was awesome performance last night. I really should have been there.. I know there is a huge wall bet Jon and Richie, but I wish Richie will join the band again....
There's been many stories floating about. But in vh1 behind the music Alec wasnt a good player live. They had Hugh cover up his tracks all through the years in the studio and Al had become a liability. Thats the story I got anyway
You know that is not true when they had to add Bobby Bandiera to the live shows back in 2005 when Richie was a drunken mess. In fact Bobby and Jon had to cover for him sometimes when RS couldn’t make it to shows due to his problems… 2008, 2011 and 2013. So no, he is not reliable.
That was so cool that the guys who were literally responsible for getting "Runaway" on the radio were here. That was probably the 2nd best moment of the night for Jon. As for Richie's response....AWKWARD!!
alon with U2 these guys were the biggest band of their generation at the box office, no way on gods gree earth they shouldnt get in. they were a massive band at the box office. on a side note alec van such is there. cool.
The show where Richie did not show up was Calgary alberta Canada. I was at that concert. Jon was sincere in his apology. Made a donation to Calgary homeless shelter. Trued hard to carry the show. Jon did well considering Richie was a last minute no show but I really thought the music lacked what the essence od Bon Jovi is. Was very disappointing. I lost all respect for Richie that night. Obviously so did Jon. His body language is very clear here and in other interviews.
@@CAST13L After all the years they played together, the ups and downs they got through together, Richie is the one who walked out. Whatever happened has never been spoken about by anyone.
@@CAST13L Yep, those are Jon's exact words. He NEVER said anything bad about Richie, and that makes me feel good. When the tabloids can't come up with any kind of story good or bad, that means nothing has been said on either side. I respect that from both sides of it. I know Jon wasn't happy when he let Alec go, he was fucking up thanks to alcohol, and Jon didn't want to be "that kind of band". With Richie, then entire band got him to go to rehab twice. If that doesn't tell how close they were, I don't know what does. They care deeply about each other and while it was a little awkward in Cleveland, it was a great time for all of them. Jon could have left Richie and Alec out of that, but Jon has enough common sense on top of doing the right thing, he wasn't going to leave anyone out. Sorry about the book Nick. We're on the same page.
Richie is badly missed in the writing department and coolness department but he has no reason to return, especially live. He’s still on the payroll he’s intertwined in that company regardless of being there, even when they tour he gets paid just from his songs being played live in performance royalties, I’d imagine he’s in on merch side too, that doesn’t change, the tour money is all he would have lost so no real big lifestyle change.
i, me... jon its not you,you you....its the band dude !!!! awesome to see richie & alec there too.time for phil to move over and let the master of disaster back in his place .
i love bo jovi (from new jersey as well) having said that jon has blown his voice which is completely understandable given how much he tours. having said that i have no idea how he can continue for much longer. in recent years richie has lost his great voice also.
I watched them playing and could only think about what a poser Phil X seemed to be. It was like “Look at me, I’m a rock star now”. Don’t even know why he was there. He had absolutely nothing to do with them getting there. I agree with others about the awkwardness though.
Jon is all about loyalty. It’s well documented. There’s no way he’s going let Richie back in the band after walking out in 2013. Even if Richie wanted to, Jon won’t let him. Sad but true.
I don't think even Richie really wants to come back... I missed all of them together but the bond is gone between Richie and John ... There was not enough time to get back what disappeared when Richie left of 5 years ago...(If I remember correctly Show in Cleveland was their last show together and it was so great and now they came back there again) They have years of beautiful memories they shared together but it's just not the same anymore. I am glad they make it through this together... and there is hope that maybe someday they would be guests on each others concerts but further than that I don't think so... Richie has a beautiful voice, I missed him in new Bon Jovi songs but he has changed a lot...
coconut grove Richie got more than enough attention, always up front, singing with Jon, solos, own songs to sing. Remember too, he CHOSE this career, do you think he would have been such an amazing guitar player had he had the position of lead singer? Maybe but def wouldn’t have been able to showcase it. He also hasn’t had 30 plus years of singing non stop with the extremely high, hard notes to hit. Easy to compare when their positions are nothing alike.
What was proven is that Bon Jovi without Richie is a shadow of the band.... Jon's voice is just getting worse and worse, not a put down just getting older, that's life.
Jon actually has improved a lot over the course of the last 12 months, so I don't know where you're getting that he was getting worse and worse from. One year ago I might have agreed but now, no way.
Sue Carey-Bradley he quit in 2008!!! and the voice is improving now..his voice was crap for almost 5 years now...ya dont get back from that in a year or so...must get stronger again. and it wil!
More awkward than pissed since it's not something he can actually answer. Despite what Richie said it's all about to Richie and what he wants to do and if he wants to share the spotlight as guitarist with Phil X in the future.
Mario Quade - that's probably a fair point. Even if Richie did decide he wanted to come back, Phil has been made an "official" member of the band... I always thought it strange with Huey's involvement right in the beginning, and the fact he took over from Alec well over a decade ago, he was never an official member, excluded from PR and promo stuff.... Maybe that's what he wanted? Do you not think prior to Richie leaving, BJ was more about JBJ than the band itself?... "Backstage with JBJ" etc. The BJ website too used to be a shrine to JBJ. That's changed a lot since Richie's departure, not least there's 2 "new" permanent members now.
Hugh was not made an official member as an agreement between the other four band members and him to honour Alec, but after over 20 years and Richie leaving the band, he was made an official member after all, probably to make the band look more like a band. And the band has always been about Jon. He was signed their record contracts and the like, he has always been in charge. And to be quite honest, Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band come across as more of an actual band act than Bon Jovi does. It actually seems as if Steve van Zandt, Max Weinberg and the others have more influence on Bruce's studio work and the live shows than any member of Bon Jovi has on Jon's decisions.
Mario Quade - Funny that, but yeah, I agree with the comparisons to Bruce and the ESB. I suppose while JBJ is and always has been master and commander, it always felt, at least to me, BJ was much more than just him. And it stands, there's so many fans crying out that Richie was integral to the band's vibe. That takes nothing away from Phil X - a superb guitarist and who's done amazingly well to fill some darn big boots.
They deserve to get in, but....This Album Should Not Be For Sale, or anything after These Days at that. Lol. A shell of the band who use to play hard rock.
Rich at the Metal Asylum definitely not bud, they're adjusting with how music is today, me being young I personally like all their albums. (especially their newer stuff) "Because We Can" "This house Is Not For Sale" "Have A Nice Day" etc.. (all the other ablums) They're all great, it might not suit your personal music catalogue but it definitely suits others.
Could anyone write down the question please ? As I don't understand a word of it......and would like to understand why Jon an Rich seemed so embarrassed. Many thanks for your help. Hugs from France
ok thanks. That's why Jon said why don't you ask him or something that kind. And Rich didn't knew what to answer.....they play a game like "it's your turn, the ball is on your side". I think it's too late for them to come back together, too many years separated and to me bond's not there anymore. I hope it happens soon though. Sorry if I'm not clear.....
Cinderellanakin you are very clear. I agree 100 % the magic is gone. Tico said it best during his speech. He loves his new brothers . Bon Jovi has moved on after the Richie drama.
David Sim l for one will be supporting if they announce australia. I really enjoy the new Jovi line up. I believe they can still sell out stadiums here in Australia. Obviously i have no idea about Europe. I really loved watching Richie in the past, but something has changed. I've seen him twice on his aussie tours after leaving Jovi. The first one in 2014 was amazing. The second in 2016 wasnt great. He was over an hour late, unprepared and really arrogant. A lot of people walked out of that show. Orianthi saved the day. She was amazing. I didnt bother going the 3rd time. Too disappointed. Sambora was definitely a Jovi drawcard but this tour will definitely show how big a drawcard he was or wasnt. In 2013 we were all hopeful that he would come back mid tour. This time round we dont expect him so the shows will tell the tale. I for one think Phil X is amazing. He just does his thing, is true to the songs and loves being up.on that stage. He doesn't take it for granted. That's pure class in my opinion. He deserves his place.

Who did Bon Jovi influence, seriously? Teenage girls and house wives? Bands like Def Leppard, Judas Priest, Bad Company, Iron Maiden, and Motorhead should be in before these clowns. The RR HoF is an "F'n" joke!
Not that I disagree with most of these examples (as a Bon Jovi fan) but when compared to a lot of the crap already in the RnR Hof Bon Jovi defineatly deserves to be in there, as well as all the examples given by you. Bon Jovi only got in because its fans were more active to vote them in than Judas Priest's fans. Which is insane anyway, I mean, doesn't matter any one of your choices or Bon Jovi deserves to be inducted prior to Nina Simone (not a rock act in any way) or last years Tupac. PS: I'm so fucking hyped for the Iron Maiden concert this summer in Hanover where I'm going to, I can't even find the right words for it, besides maybe "Up the Irons"!
Bon Jovi influenced more every day people than famous rock bands. They were never pioneers of rock and roll, but they set trends, popularised new sounds (like the voice box) and played to more fans around the world than anyone else. Bon Jovi definitely changed my life. In short Eric, you're wrong.

You really don't know much about music...
As a musician they influenced me, particularly Tico
Eric W every artist!!! no band achiefed what BJ did..so exambel for everyone
So many other bands are more deserving. Very cheesy music.
Oh how you hurt my feelings. Sorry but just because a song is on radio doesn’t make it good. Besides it’s an opinion. Don’t get so bent out of shape.
Sure ya do. Sales doesn’t equal quality. Never did
