    As a Melbournian, Ím so happy Lali and Gita made this place their home. Read the book in high school for English lit, and it was like reliving the emotions all over again. Assessing thr book for 6 weeks, we knew the ins and outs. Fantastic series 🤍 the actors did his story justice💗

    Just finished watching the whole series. The story is told so beautifully and the actors are outstanding in portraying each character they play. Through the scenery and music it takes you on a very emotional journey of a past that should never be forgotten.

    I think everyone did a great job. This series was gut wrenching, but left this slither of hope. I still can't wrap my head around how humans could do this to other humans

    Loved it. Tears dropped often while watching, can't even imagine what people went through while being in Auschwitz.

      The fact that life in Auschwitz is depicted inaccurately in the series, you already know. What's worse is that it is actually harmful. At least 1,300,000 people were transported to Auschwitz, and for most of them, no film will ever be made. However, one of the main characters in the series is SSman Beretzki - who, although he occasionally hits someone, is portrayed as a nice guy hiding the prisoners' romances, chatting with them about emotional life, and joking. In reality, he was one of the greatest psychopaths in the camp, the terror of the prisoners, sentenced for killing pregnant women with a club and playing ball with newborns. And the film is about him, and he will be remembered by the rest of the people as a "humane guy." The author made up the story of Cilka - repeatedly being asked to remove inaccurate information by both historians and family members. Do you think she removed it? Knowing it was a lie, she left everything PLUS wrote a new book dedicated solely to her. Money must be made. Of course, Poles in the film appear only as prostitutes sleeping with Nazis or people outside who exploited prisoners in exchange for jewelry and money. Not a word about the fact that 150,000 prisoners were Polish Catholics and that there was a barrack in Birkenau for Polish children from Zamość and dozens of transports of Polish insurgents from Warsaw. Prisoners eat chocolate, joke in the barracks, and even take others into account - in summary, watching the film, it seems it wasn't that bad there, not sure what all the fuss is about. (Joke)

    I feel as though this will be kept in my heart forever. I don't think I'll ever forget this movie... I try to envision being in their shoes but there's no way we can even fathom it. It has affected me for a few days. Moments of sadness. But know I am grateful for my life

    I just finished watching the Tattooist of Auschwitz and it has been a journey through the lives of two people who found eachother in a most horrific period in history, the holocaust! The story is really heartbreaking and happy at the same time even though there were extreme difficulties after the war for both, Lali and Gita, both in their own experience. It is filmed and portrayed in a very intimate way without losing the fact that it all happened in Birkenau during the war. Very well acted by all of the actors and the filming crew did a fine job telling the story. May all the poor souls that suffered and died in Auschwitz Rest in Peace and may God rest their souls eternally! 🙏🙏

    Have to admit Anna is great as she was in "Warsaw 44" But the whole cast was on another level! Great acting, Directing and a Massive thanks to Harvey who played his part so well! Jonas was superb without doubt playing one of the junior officers. I would love a series 2 where you see the Nazi's get their just desserts!

    Thanks. Joe Peski and I played a lot of golf together in L.A. Love him dearly. The screenplay we want Mel Gibson to direct after L.W.5 is The Leni Riefenstahl story, Showing the good side of this German director-actress-writer who was railroaded by the tribunal after WWII. They couldn't make any of thier accusations stick but took her camera away from her. A crime against a great artist.

    No business like Shoah business they say & hundreds of films & tv movies later, with no such attention paid to the many other horrendous episodes in human history, one has to agree. It is a crass undertaking in any case, casting attractive model like actors, perfectly healthy looking, when we know the prisoners in these places of misery & death were starved, worked to death & where disease, malnutrition & despondancy was the order of the day.
    To write a love story for God's sake set in this foul place, as if any of the people there were concerned with relationships. Hollywood garbage, like more or less every depiction of war, hopelessly unrealistic & offensive to the memory of those who suffered so terribly.

    Do some historical research and get cultured about Auschwitz. Never let the British and Americans cover history.
    Lali’s first meeting when he tattoos a number on her arm, Witek-Malicka says that could not have happened in real life because men tattooed male inmates and women tattooed female inmates.

    • @terri6854
      @terri6854 18 днів тому

      Do you think everything happened exactly the same every day? Plenty of non-routine things would happen in a place like that.
      "Lali met Gita in July 1942 when she was presented in front of him. Years later he would tell Morris how, as he tattooed her number on her arm, he fell in love."
