Dear Anthony will you publish your ebook "smater" on kindle? if not: Which books on kindle, about memorizing do you recommend?
Thanks for asking about SMARTER.
I probably will be keeping this one for independent release.
For Kindle, I would suggest The Victorious Mind. It gets into the holistic level of total memory improvement Anastasia and I are talking about today.
Please let me know if you have any further questions about memory books or anything else and I'll get back to you a.s.a.p.
@@AnthonyMetivierMMM Thanks Anthony. I am starting from scratch. I will check that book you recommended to me. By the way do you happen to have a full list of the best books on this subject? Thanks again
Thanks for your follow-up.
The notion of the "best" books is problematic. I would suggest thinking about your precise learning goals. Then I might have some suggestions for books most closely aligned with those outcomes.
Otherwise, there are few memory improvement books that aren't worth reading. The review itself and even some of the bad ideas you come across are valuable to know about.
@@AnthonyMetivierMMM I am being able to memorize quicky, vocabulary for languages, sequences of numbers, letters or even patterns etc etc
Super fun, thanks! 💙
“Great memory palace in the sky.” 😂
May he memorize in peace!
You're videos are so valuable, not only a wealth of practical actionable information, but videos like this where there's lots of info but inspiration on things i might like to do
Anything you'd like to see covered moving forward on the channel?
Thanks
Thank you very much for supporting the channel!
Anything you'd like to see covered in a future video or interview?
This was a great interview thank you.
Thanks for checking this one out and warm wishes for an amazing start to 2024!
Loved this interview! Learned about a "rabbit warren" for the first time. Taking that. I like her idea of memorizing the words one day and the definitions when they have lived in you a spell.
Glad you enjoyed it! The palimpsest method (so to speak), is a good one. 🙏
Marvelous discussion! Anastasia puts you in there, with her magnetic imagery, and also shows what it feels like to be her, delighting in the process of recall.
So great to see you and thanks for letting us know you found it and liked it. Hopefully we'll record some more to the end deepening all of our delight in recall.
How are things going with your own memory and other projects lately?
Thanks for sharing this interview.
🙏
One of the best memory interviews I've witnessed !
So glad you enjoyed it!
Anything you'd like to see covered in a future discussion with Anastasia? :-)
This was a really cool conversation. I came in a bit confused about why one would want to memorize a dictionary but hearing that it was less about having all the words memorized and more about the learning journey one has along the way it makes more sense.
It does indeed an incredible journey. I wanted to keep the focus on her, but I've done some dictionary work myself.
It was a key part of training myself in more intermediate and advanced approaches while also making my path to fluency in German much, much faster and a lot more fun.
Someone was recently visiting me from Germany and it astonished us both after how 15 minutes in to our conversation, how fluid I was in the language. Switching it back on after 7 years of hardly speaking it and only that small amount of warm up was quite something to behold and I attribute lots of it to dictionary work coupled with ample reading, writing, speaking and listening practice. But reading above all. It is an incredible source of mental dexterity and dictionaries provide great reading material too, albeit of a very special sort.
Great ideas on different approaches to memorizing a dictionary 🎉
Thank you for stopping by and happy memorizing. Even just a small percentage of a dictionary will make a huge difference.
So far each of my memory palaces has been created on the fly, while taking walks. Today I was surprised to log 16 locations without needing to write them down. 99% of what I see is just noise, but when something evokes some feeling other than “here I am, on this walk, la dee da” I know that is a good candidate for a location.
I’ve been putting off trying to just sit down and create a memory palace from just memory. I’ll probably get tired from all the walking, and I’m sure the palace can benefit from being constructed of material that’s already passed through the signal/noise filter.
I like this whacky world of imagination. I temper my excitement because I have convinced myself or been convinced a million times before that something or, especially, some practice, is gonna revolutionize my life or the world. Delusional positive thinking has been a real problem for me. At this early stage I have far more locations than images I’ve crafted in those locations representing other information.
Thanks to you and the guest. I enjoy your videos!
It is an enjoyable world of imagination, isn’t it?
In this world, perhaps positive delusion is a good thing. Or at least not a bad one.
Thanks for checking out these videos. Anything you’d like to see covered in the future? 🙏
Anthony, I’ve had a heck of a few weeks. More on that at a later time. But I enjoyed this insight with your guest. I know exactly where you get the swan and the candle from. I won’t say anything else. I’ll have to go over that candle swan etc. myself I had forgotten about it. Still trying out things. It’s a never ending situation we’re in. Haha. Anyway have a great day. Your friend Bill
Memory is indeed the great, never-ending technique that keeps on giving.
Look forward to a deeper update as time and memory allow.
Thanks for checking this one out in the meantime and as always for commenting.
About images, especially AI images, it's common for artists to use reference images when drawing and painting. It's just way easier to visualize with a reference. Which is not to say we should always use them, but it's definitely not useless.
🙏
Hey Anthony! How are you !?
I am new to this whole thing. Am I not gonna run out of places for all the things?
And what is your personal experience? How much do you learn every day? 10 words? 100?
Great to hear from you and wonderful that you're discovering these techniques for the first time. It's an envious position to be in with so much potential ahead.
It's not possible to run out of Memory Palaces and you can see why this is true here:
ua-cam.com/video/Wn05eskjIFg/v-deo.html
I learn various amounts on a daily basis. It depends on where I'm at with one of my learning cycles, a strategy I discuss here:
ua-cam.com/video/5VRTDkZlJEA/v-deo.html
I have had days when I've memorized 100 words and it feels great. But in a project like learning a language, I've found it's not necessary to do that many.
Usually within 800-1200 words, you can pretty much read and start learning a lot of words contextually, which is to say that you use a technique called anticipatory reading and start absorbing them by guessing what they mean. It's not bulletproof, but affords a high rate of accuracy and allows Memory Palaces to be directed at what polyglots sometimes call "the stubborn quintile" of words that need the kind of attention only Memory Palaces can provide.
But that's in the context of language learning. Milage varies in other areas of knowledge, or other kinds of language-based material, such as the anatomy I talk about on my medical mnemonics channel.
Please let me know if you have further questions and talk soon!
@@AnthonyMetivierMMM wow that was very helpful! a true SUCS (Superior Unexpected Customer Service)

Thanks a lot!
My pleasure.

Could you use the memory palace without a locations.for example, could you make multi sensory imagery without having to assign it to a location and still have the same result as the memory palace
I suppose the answer is yes and no. Is there such a think as a mental image without a location or at least a reference to locationality? If you can name an image without these features, I'll both be impressed and perhaps have a better answer for you.
@@AnthonyMetivierMMM thank you for responding but I have another question. When you say that understanding unlocks because of memorization,is it immediate or does it take time for understanding to unlock?for example,if I tried to understand biology definitions, would it be better if I first start by either memorizing it and then try to understand it or should I try to understand it without memorizing biology definitions first. And if the memorizing it first then understanding it is more beneficial for retaining the definitions, would I have to wait some time after memorizing it using memory techniques before contemplating it or try to understand it directly after memorizing it using memory techniques or are both accepted.
The best way I know of to answer this question is to split-test the options you've listed.
One thing you can be sure of is that some things will be understood before memorization. And there will always be lots of things you can memorize without understanding them in order to test the different rates at which understanding arrives.
@@AnthonyMetivierMMM so it all just depends on the type of information given.
I wouldn't say that exactly. Much depends on your current level of skill with a variety of strategies and your choice of the best mnemonic strategy for the learning task relative to the learning goal.
I want to try memorising a dictionary.
Even just in part, it’s fun and will teach you a lot. Both about language and mnemonics.
If someone ask me what is the best decision you make in your life i will say seeing all of your vedios , thank Antony you changed my life
Thanks for the kind words. If you took action on the ideas, you should take the credit.
Keep on rocking and I look forward to hearing more about what you've been able to accomplish and continue to accomplish going forward.
Real achivements like at first I was not able to remember a single song , I was dreaming for to and also willing to perform live I was less confident , buy using your methods I started to learn song very easily , I bring me more confidence , also other achievements like , I was much like a introvert , when I go public I forgot everything what I need to do , even I planned well , I was week at many subjects all subjects learning , never stick in my mind and I learn a lot but nothing stays in my mind , if the knowledge is to use I real world It just stays in my books itself , it also improved my overall mental health , the biggest achievement I gained by using your method is it took off , my ego , anger , even the laziness to do hard things , thank you Antony to share these valuable information out there for free 🙏

Neuroscientists David Eagleman says we all have at least a zettabyte! :)
From my experience, you have to be clever in the first place to remember things. I struggle as I'm not that clever.
Actually, I suggest people reverse this kind of thinking. It's precisely by not being clever that I get further.
Have you ever completed the basic MMM exercises? They're all designed to get clever and cute out of the way so that very simple processes do all the heavy lifting for you.
As far as I can tell, the only real barrier anyone faces is not sitting down and just getting it done without SRIN getting in the way (self referential inner narrative).
There's a simple exercise I taught at this TEDx event that can help you reduce and focus more on the fundamental exercises if you want to give it a try:

What do you think? :-)
@@AnthonyMetivierMMM I've tried many of your memory ideas, I remember it for a few days, then forget.
Please say more about the exact steps you're following, the information you're memorizing and share some of the associations. These techniques are beyond blame, but the nature of "tried" often is wanting.
@@sonnetpoem Of course you will remember something for a few days and then forget if you never review. Memory techniques are great, but they're not a magic pill to eliminate all forms of forgetting. You need to review using spaced repetition. And by asking yourself questions to see if you can answer them correctly without cheating. Either using Anki or some other personal method you might prefer. The number of reviews you will need to do isn't that high, but it's not zero either. You can (mostly) stop reviewing either after you start semi-regularly using the info in your normal life, or once you realize that you can still remember even after 6+ months have gone by.
Great point. Spaced rep is the key, and here are some angles on it @sonnetpoem won't want to miss:

Mnemonics are helpful, but not as helpful as they can be without it.
