    Great sculpture, but why don’t you use polymer clay so you can keep it safe?

    • @WieselRobot
      @WieselRobot  7 років тому +16

      Thank you!
      I use carver plastilina / plastelin (wax and oil based clay) because it will cast in bronze or use it for model for carvings. Afterwards it will reused in other sculptings.

  • @nicolegibson9997
    @nicolegibson9997 7 років тому +1

    Very beautiful!!! I am learning how to sculpt things (mostly diy fairy houses and such) but I was wondering if you have any suggestions or tips? Like what kind of wires to use for a base (like the wings on your eagle) and what other uncommon tools there are that not a lot of people would know about? Just wondering. Keep up the amazing work!!!

    • @WieselRobot
      @WieselRobot  7 років тому

      Thank you!
      I use regular modelling tools and a putty knife for bigger cuts. Most wire I use are steel or aluminum wire.
      Only the clay is different: carver plastilina / plastelin (wax and oil based clay). It can not dry and I reuse it, after it is carved or casted.

      Mostly I use Pinus cembra (Stone pine/Zirbe) or Limewood (Linde). The wood I bought at a sawmill.
      The woodcarving set i use cost a lot. But it pays off, because this carvingtools last very long.
      Most time i use StubaiTools: (www.stubai.com/index.php/en/woodworkingtools/serie-52-k) or Pfeil-Tools:(www.pfeiltools.com/en/products.html).

    What kind of clay did you use? I used air drying clay for a project of my own to test it out but it becomes too dry to quickly, can you recomend a type of clay that's easier to use thatn air drying clay

    • @WieselRobot
      @WieselRobot  6 років тому +1

      If you use regular clay, you should wet it and cover it with a plastic bag. I haven't tested other clay's yet.
      I use carvers plastelin (oil and waxe based clay). It can not dry and will be reused after casting or carving. This clay is hard to find.
      I hope this helps. 😊

    Weather you reply or not,
    How do you start sculpting? I have experience in art, i'd say i am very advanced as an artist. I also do 3D modeling pretty well on computers. I have done some things with sculpting but i don't have the materials or tools to do any sculpting and i really want to try it. What type of clay is generally used? What are the tools? Is there a video on how to use them? etc?
    Thanks.

    • @WieselRobot
      @WieselRobot  6 років тому +1

      I use carvers plastelin clay. It can not dry and will be reuse after casting or carving. You can try it with regular clay, it will dry. There exists some tutorials here on youtube, maybe they using a better material for starters. I use regular modelling tools.
