I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sexual purity and sexual shame is a sensitive topic in the church. I'm a convert to Christ, but I can't help but feel that at times my church and members need to find different approaches and responses to sexuality and inevitable sexual intimacy and growth. I am struggling with my own sexual challenges of which shame has been a major player. I was married for several years and have 2 children and sexuality was a struggle in that marriage. I am not really a patron of social media except UA-cam, however your discussions seem closest to hitting the mark on these topics. Your idea on how the adversary strives for us to argue between 2 extremes and how repentance is beyond that dialectic hit home for me. The leaders in my faith tradition talk about how repentance brings joy but nothing is really explained beyond that. In my cry for understanding you give more than they do in what's needed. Thank you for what you share in this space. I hope I can curate a relationship of intimacy, honesty, and vulnerability that you two seem to engender today.
This is such a beautiful powerful conversation!! I was addicted to porn for years. I looked at myself as not worthy of love or respect... I would open my legs for any kind of attention and to feel love. God truly set me free from all of it! Once I truly released it to God and left it at Jesus's feet... He truly set me free! I no longer am trapped in that snare of confusion and self hatred. 🙌🙌🙌🙌♥️🙏

I know all about it lol. I was set free from porn addiction as a woman. Then masturbation became a problem as I woul lust in my mind. I'm 64 all lust is gone praise God it's where he led me as I haven't had sexual experiences or dealings with lust in many years.
I'm a new follower of Christ so I have questions. I heard the woman speak about soul ties & to have a process to purify yourself. It sounds like new age talk & I haven't found anything from scripture that talks about this. What is this from and what does she mean?
In my opinion. I think that meaning scientifically that your body literally has a chemical connection to the person you are intimate with. Whether within marriage or not, so sleeping with many different people affects you. I think that’s what soul ties mean in one sense. And I haven’t really heard about purifying yourself, but God restores and purifies us, we are holy through him, not our own doing.
It's not in the bible specifically, but the bible does talk about consumation of a marriage, and how the husband and wife become one at that point. Soul ties are the idea derived from the fact that God designed sex for marriage, for the husband and wife to enjoy and become one, and their souls intertwine. And by doing so outside of marriage, you are still sharing that soul connection(soul tie) with that other person no matter who they are or the circumstance. Some soul ties cause misplaced trust or projecting past hurts onto your current spouse. So the process to cut those soul ties, would first stem from forgiving both yourself and those past hurts with the help of the Holy spirit, realizing God doesn't hold sin against you, and that you and your spouse are a new beginning full of firsts. A lot of new believers struggle with this in their marriage because they carry the shame of premarital sex into their current relationship. Idk if this is your situation but thought I'd help explain.

Not everyone struggles with masturbation. I think we should be kind and sensitive with shame but normalising sin won’t help people
