I’m a huge fan of this lineup and In Rock is my fave DP album. MH is a close second SKing is one of my fave DP tracks of all albums. What a way to start the album. Gillian Blackmore Lotd just killing it and then Paice in there killing it with Glover. My fave Paice track is definitely Burn. Freaking amazing. Love the review
I'll be live-streaming my JazzRockSoul.com article on Deep Purple after I fill out more information (it's about 75% complete through '87). I'll probably do two installments: Pt 1. 1968-73 and Pt 2. 1974-1987.
Remember seeing Purple in 1972 or 73 at De Montfort Hall Leicester, England for the princely sum of about £2:50. The sound system the band used left my ears ringing for 4 days.
This has to be my favorite DP album right after "Made in Japan". Great, raw and flashy playing. Back in high school, a schoolmate of mine played "Speed King" in morning assembly and I still remember the surprise of our teacher after the mellow Hammond intro.
Thanks for posting! If you have a minute, we recorded an Eddie Van Halen tribute video. As fellow music lovers, we'd love if you'd check it out. It's on our page. Don't go too hard on us :)

Ian Gillan described this song as a few roots replanted..a homage to old rock & roll tunes little Richard & Elvis Presley referenced here.
I had forgot all about this version of the song. Its a weird memory scrape. Awesome.

This was DPs fourth Studio Album. I believe this song was mostly written by Glover. I’d like to see your reaction to Lazy off the Machine Head album.
I just listened to the studio and live versions of "Lazy" for a refresher. I have profiled "Space Truckin'."
