I believe the term is 'planned obsolescence'! It's all about creating demand for new cars every 5 years or so, as your current car/appliance will begin to fail on cue when the it's preset death date comes into effect!

Totally Impressed, Such a old car and still runs like a sports car. The Engine idle was so good. I am just amazed to see such a classic German Muscle car. Its a special BMW.
I had an E28 M535i Hartge in a deep burgundy metallic. Absolutely fabulous car and never let me down. This brought back some great memories. Well done you! And you have THREE E28s!
I had an 85 524td for many years. Put about 320k on it before I sold it. Had 400k on it before I lost track of it. Original engine and trans. I head gasket, several batteries and 1 starter. I miss that car .

@@Flexiny Hab 2 524TD !987 automatic. I diesel dusted many cars off the line. Cruise control 220k all day long.in comfort. Harsh Canadian winters were no problem starting! Sold to buy an 1988 735i 5 speed manual, with Bosch sport shocks + Eibach progressive springs. Those were the Hay Days. Get these cars stashed somewhere Hi + Dry! Love your Style + edits!
I owned one of these while living in Germany. Biggest problem is the cooling system. Notorious for leaking and overheating which results in a warped head. On the plus side I was in Germany and parts were available either at the parts store or at the local stripping yard. However, mine was gas and not diesel.
Now that car is worth something, definitely worth the restore! It's a shame growing up in the generation of declining quality in German cars, but then again, I guess that is all cars at this point.

I has a 324 TD in Cuba, rebuilt motor, everything by smuggling parts from BMW Miami. The staff were mainly ex Cuban and always gave me decent decent discount....
I find it very funny how you are so determined to not use any brake fluid to start the diesel cars :)) Although I do enjoy hearing engines slowly and gently coming back to life
My cousin had a 1984 528e Same as this but not diesel 5speed it ran great lots of good times with that car. I think it had 60 or 70k when he got it. Never needed any work but this was back in late 1995/1996 wish I can go back to those times
Blue one meant for spares for the white one? That white one has relatively low KM! Should clean up nicely, excited to see that one go again, I notice it needs some reassembly under the hood though.
@@jackds7107 All was meant for driving. Owner of them died years ago and cars were abandoned like these. White one engine head is fully restored and blue one was left on car jack. There was no headgasket problem. It was smoking because of condensate in oil and exhaust.
