The first time I ever the night sky with no lights was when I was standing watch on my ship in South Korea, full moon casting it's light over the calm ocean waves, stars shining and blinking beautifully. Tried to get a picture, but my camera couldn't capture it and I just sat there watching the night sky. Truly what made me stay in the Navy.
Man this should be something the whole world should do together it should be a time for us to look back on how are ancestors lived and appreciate everything we have today as a lot of us don’t even release how lucky we are to have the things we have today😔 plus it would be a really cool 👌🏽
I think you're talking about "earth hour". It's an hour every 23rd March at night where people are supposed to turn off all lights. Sadly the city lights are way too many to be turned off together, but even if it's for an hour. I wish we could enjoy a clean sky once every year.
160 years ago. Something like this was nothing more than a common commodity in the world that many of us now take for granted today. To be able to see the star filled sky today really would be an amazing experience.
I liked he used Oppenheimer's - Can You Hear the Music instead of the theme from Interstellar (like he uses in his other space videos). To convey the message strongly what he wants to convey just like Oppenheimer wanted to convey about the Nuclear Holocaust. ❤😊 Always love your videos bro (From India).
The best way to do it without having everyone turn off the light is going to the dessert of Atacama in South America. Definitely gonna check it out when I get the chanve
Next month me and my gf are going to a park that has one of the darkest skies in the state. I heard you could see the Milky Way. I'm really excited, I've always wanted to see the stars!! Now even more cuz I've been really into space recently.
okay like i love the dude, love the lesson, channel and basically everything he does and stands for!! but just a tiny issue with the light thing which we've figured out earlier as well isn't just simply turning off the electricity!! it's the restarting of all of it and like logistical problems, since we're at this moment heavily dependent on it we do it for one day or a week we'd need to restart it sometime and that's when all hell breaks loose
Beautiful video, Kobi, as always! Knowing there’s no planet B shall always be used as an inspiration to protect and care for what we have. One small (interesting) note: turning all our lights off together, even on a city scale, is actually not good for our power stations and can cause them to overload. There’s more to this - happy to expand on it.
I live in Idaho, and I go camping every year. I don’t know what’d I do if I wasn’t able to see the stars. For some reason they help me calm down during a panic attack, just looking at them. The Big Dipper sits right above my house so I’m able to see it every night. And when I go camping, there’s even more stars to see because we’re just in the bare woods. One crazy thing is roughly 6 shooting stars are seen every hour, and those are the ones we’re able to see. One night when I was camping, my brother told me there was a meteor shower. Unfortunately the moon was so bright that we wouldn’t be able to see it very well, but we’d still be able to see some shooting stars. And we saw a lot! It was so exciting. The Milky Way isn’t always super clear for us but I can usually guess where it is in the night sky because it’s like a lighter path in the sky. Our universe is beautiful. I hope everyone gets to see the Milky Way clearly at least once in their lives.
I got to see the Milky Way for the first time down at North Fork river back in high school. I laid out under that sky the entire weekend. Absolutely mesmerizing!
It's weird to me that there are places where you actually can't see the milky way. Og course we can't see it fully clear cause here in switzerland light pollusion also exist but also in the biggest cities here like zürich you can see the milky way with the naked eye. It's just not as beautiful as it would be under normal circumstances but you can see it not that bad
