I would add a good quality winter coat to the list of things worth investing in.
Personally I buy no less than 75% wool composition as anything less is too cold for me. Pricier but worth it

I used to work for a top sunglasses/spectacles company and you pay a large premium for a designer name. If you can find a pair of sunglasses made with acetate rather than plastic, you will be buying the same or similar quality.

I came looking for this comment. I feel like there's not much difference between expensive and cheap sunglasses. Both stylistically and quality. With clothes there can be a huge difference in material and quality of construction, but with sunglasses that are mostly plastic or metal and similar construction, I really don't think it's worth the investment.
Tip: Don’t buy luxury sunglasses if you can find the same style for less or at. Big discount. They don’t last longer and aren’t made better. You’re paying for the label. My Ray-bans have outlasted all my luxury glasses including YSL, Gucci, and Tom Ford.
Ray-Bans are another level of sturdy

Very good points here, Lydia. Another factor for me is the quality of fit, particularly for those less standard parts of our bodies. If you have greater curves in a certain area, for example, sometimes it is worth it to spend more on the right fit that will flatter you best. If you are easy to fit, a basic item in a standard size will likely still look pretty good.

I would add that it is worth investing into good quality, classic watch. The best would be the bi-color model, as it would match any ourfit and type of jewellery. 😘😘

Love this video! I bought the Loewe Pochette last August and have worn it so much already this year. I then got the Celine basket bag for the same reason as you mentioned trying to avoid buying all one brand!

I have some Isabel Marant trainers that I must have bought around 8-9 years ago. I used to be careful where I wore them as they are fur, but now I wear them everywhere (UK, rains a lot). Fur is only just starting to thin out at the toes. They are so well made, I will definitely invest in some more.
Last year, I got a very beautiful pair of Tod's like yours but in a dark tan. I got them at Holt Renfrew Montréal on sale for 445$ can. so it means for around 220 pounds I guess. They are si confortable and high quality. For that Price; an amazing investment!
Stride Rite and yes they are still the best kids shoes, super cute, excellent quality and awesome support for kids feet!!! We definitely have them here in the US and they're still very popular 😁 Happy belated Birthday 💕

Hi Lydia I agree with you on what pieces to invest though I must say I live in Spain where leather goods are excellent in quality and design without being any particular brand and so affordable for almost anyone, you just have to know exactly what you're looking for and where...
Saame Brazilian, Portuguese, Spanish people know it very well. No surprise all brands source and produce their leather goods in those countries ( from High end to middle range and beyond!) When I go back home to Brazil, I really have to control myself to not over spend because there are just stunning craftmanship for almost nothing.

I agree on all points except for denim. Like somebody mentioned before it's a major difference between expensive and cheap denim. I also think it's not worth splurging on sportswear.
I love the Tods loafers. Very well made, beautiful colour and details. I would love some ideas on comfortable, classic low-heeled shoes with some support (not totally flat) that are closed toe for the summer (not sandals). If you have any ideas, that would be great. Thanks.

I have been on the hunt for a great belt and very excited about this one! I had been on the hunt for a great belt and was absolutely clueless about which to pick, but Lydia answered my prayers with the perfect suggestion. I paused the video and ordered the belt. Cannot watch in piece until I have it LOL. May I ask though, do you know why the pricing of the reversible belt is almost 2x the non-reversible? I was a bit surprised by that. This sounds so silly but this is actually my first belt, so I am ignorant. I suppose that in a normal belt, the flip side is unfinished?
Interesting to note the right down to floor length of baggy trs. I had been wondering if my baggy jeans needed to be shortened on sneakers with rounded toes but will leave them to floor...thanks.

Sunníes are great, i have Dior, Prada, Gucci and I need to say I have some fabulous not so expensive ones, that tend to go to more than the others. My Costas are exceptionally good since I live in Florida.
Adding statement jewelry really do make a difference. They don’t need to be mega expensive, just unique enough.

Great tips - I have never understood why someone would buy expensive denim/jeans or white trainers, when as you say, no one can tell the difference. Although if someone has the budget, and it makes sense to them, go for it :).
I am willing to spend a bit more on shoes if it means they are more comfortable, have better arch support, natural breathable material and such. It's not just the looks that matter :)
True but sometimes the fit and comfort are much better in the more expensive pieces. Fit is everything.

Another great video. Would you make a video with a woman in her 50`ies, size 12-ish, and comment on jeans, footwear, and jewellry combined with glasses. Sometimes too much is going on in your face when you wear glasses and add bigger earrings or statement necklace.
I would have a look at Winser, for trousers, ( they look great and look the same after hundreds of washes) and Holland Cooper for elevated basics.
MM Personal styling has some great videos styling women in this age group of various sizes and shapes. She's also UK based.

Completely agree with you! I have some belts from my mum and I can wear them because they’re quality is still very good. As for shirts, could I suggest Uniqlo? Especially Ines de la Fressange collaboration? Shirts and trousers (blazers never tried). In Italy we can find small producers and I always wait for sales season to buy a pair of well made shoes. Thank you very much for your videos, really like your style!
Sometimes I feel small local producers are missing from alot of the conversation on youtube! In Ireland, the pricing can be closer to high end high street than the luxury price tag and the quality is amazing especially in tweeds, wools, linens here (were as Italy I'd imagine its broader range as has a deeper artisanal fashion culture). I also try to be a discerning sales and second hand shopper.
@@laura4457 That’s true!! I love Irish craftsmanship! In Italy you can find really good pieces in open markets, by both small producers and luxury brands. For example in Turin we have 3/4 markets specialised in clothes and accessories. We have also little shops but unfortunately they are dying because of crisis and a thinner middle class. Second hand is a very good choice too!!

Finding classic clothing is sometimes a challenge for me here, especially with relaxed or trouser style denim or pants in general that aren’t “body con”.
