Before any other fight you gotta push for that rematch Sean. Us fans will rally behind it. You deserve it more than anyone.
If he doesn't get the rematch, I think the only other fight that really makes sense is for him to fight Izzy again and the winner gets the title shot. My suspicion is they are gonna try to get Izzy in there for the title which is insane because he definitely doesn't deserve it right now.
Over 90% of the community is calling for it. Even on UFC's insta where they are trying to promote Izzy vs DDP, all the comments say rematch. Every single one.
and if the UFC blatantly ignores it, then we have ourselves a truly fixed sport.

You and I might think he won the fight but the two judges didn't. I really like Sean but he lost the fight and it’s a fact. His belt is gone, he won't get PPV points in his next fight. He deserves a rematch because of how close it was. I've seen many fighters say it could have been 3-2 to either guy. I thought Max beat Volk in their second fight but the fact is that he lost. Dana put the belt around the new champion. That's the problem with either not finishing or dominating your opponent, you leave it to the judges who have a subjective view of the fight. It's impossible to tell if a good jab is equal to a powerful body kick. All I'm confident in saying is that there was no definitive answer as to who the better fighter was on the night. Strickland was better at landing hard jabs and DDP was better at varying his attacks and was trying to finish Sean. I hope they do the rematch next but they will probably give it to Izzy.

Alex is little guilty that he used him as stepping stone at ufc 276. That is why he called Sean to train with him after that loss against Jared. Then Sean fighting IQ is on point. He peppered DDP in first round this fight too. DDP's gas tank definitely surprised Sean. It was very close fight let's run it back.
Alex said in portugueses in their post fight interview (alex x sean) that everyone was ducking him and the only one that accepted the challenge was sean, so he respected the guy a lot

This fight just showed how high level Sean’s striking is
he just needs to throw in something else than jabs .. judges wont score them too high specially if he is walking backwards. It is perfect jab but if he gets cought with few heavier strikes he is gonna loose the round (like he lost 2nd round in this fight).

Yep solid in the way he accepted the split decision, but many of us agree with Sean and it's not crying pointing out an unfortunate critical moment that likely shifted the decision in favour of DDP. Sean is a character and we love him for it. Much more likely it was a headbutt based on the injury.
