Sean was extraordinary. As a straight male, I truly appreciate his courage, his sense of humor, his compassion and humanity. Seems to be a lovely person. Smartless, by the way, is one of my favorite podcasts.
“In your formative years it’s especially important to be loved and excepted” True, true words. As the father of two fine, upstanding youth I know this is certainly part of the reason why they are so great!
✨✨I’m still holding-out for the day Sean is cast in the life story of Paul Lynde. He has that same quick wit and energy. Sean is ALWAYS the funniest and most talented in EVERYTHING. I ADORE him❣️✨✨
☝😏 "How long did they give you?" was such a great line and so perfectly set up by the conversation, you could tell how pleased Steven was with himself. 🤣👍
Had the privilege of being in the second row to watch his performance on Broadway. BEYOND BRILLIANT and the Tony award was SO well deserved. “A fool once given a chance the wisest.” Well, he’s just the smartest and most talented EVER! Always has been !
Congratulations Sean on your well deserved Tony. I’m a senior in Dallas and unfortunately will never have the opportunity to see your play. Love your response to where his book be found: everywhere books aren’t banned
Wholly, completely, marvelously entertaining storyteller. Brilliant, Sean (his name is my name too). Love Smartless too. Pass it on, when you pass on b-byeeeeeeee!
I remember Oscar Levant as the target of a devastating critique. Levant was teasing his friend, George Gershwin, about the supposed vanity in the composers many popular songs, to which Gershwin quipped back, "“Oscar, why don't you play us a medley of your hit?”
If you went to any show-biz party in 1950s New York you could find Oscar Levant and Dorothy Parker sitting on the sidelines amusing one another with their devastating critiques of everyone else in the room. They took particular joy in ruthlessly mocking Leonard Bernstein for his pomposity. And in fact Oscar was probably the one person in that crowd who was as gifted as Bernstein - no exaggeration, he was a musical genius who could sight read anything - but was hobbled by his issues and his demons. I wish I were still living in New York; I’d love to see this play.
Saw “Goodnight Oscar” at the Goodman in Chicago. Transcendent. Run to get tickets…it’s a show you do not want to miss. Do be ready for the heart wrenching though.
I have always idolized Oscar Levant. This will be very exciting. That people remember Mr Levant is really amazing. Who is Oscar? He is one of the greatest talent ever. Brilliant musician, manic depression, great actor and brilliant wit. No body understood him. Maybe the Gershwin brothers. He is someone to be respected. An icon. I mean Mr Levant.
Wow, just made the connection between the musical genius / Gene Kelly's friend - character in An American in Paris and the popular guest on Jack Paar -- Oscar Levant. Now I want to watch that movie again.
Just saw this play, I laughed, I cried, I hope Sean Hayes wins a Tony. The entire cast, sets, costumes, all perfect, you feel like you're in the that era's audience, Bravo to all, especially Oscar, Sean isn't Sean, he's Oscar.
Sean, I remember when you did the three headed man on a GEICO Commercial. You are one of the main reasons i became more understanding of the Gay Community. I loved you as Jerry Lewis. All the Best to you and yours
I’m so very happy Sean won a Tony Award!! I remember watching Oscar LaVant on Jack Parr as a child. I was always so very entertained by him. But, thought he had some sort of problem ( watching as a child)…
Always love you Sean, please bring back Will & Grace & big mistake ending it only 3 seasons & he always makes me laugh & haven't seen him since he guest hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live last summer. Keep up the good work on the show, podcast & hopefully your new book won't be banned also like you said.
I mean it seems like the next step would be removing stuff like this from physical book stores because children have access to them and anything involving two boys kissing is "pornography". Or maybe Barnes and nobles will have to be 18+? And it can't be in libraries either because those are taxpayer-funded...
What another great show stephen always look forward to your videos ❤Lots off Love From Dublin Ireland🇮🇪🌹hopefully 1 day i would like to be in the audiance
Shout out to the Ugandan LGBTQ+ communities! Stay strong. Your struggles are not going unnoticed around the world. Thanks, Sean, for making me laugh over and over again on Will & Grace. Best of luck with your new play!
Oscar Levant's Wikipedia page starts out, "Oscar Levant was an American concert pianist, composer, conductor, author, radio game show panelist, television talk show host, comedian and actor." That's quite a list.
I would have been so disappointed if Sean Hayes was actually straight. I hope that's not offensive. The bar for intelligent and funny just seems higher for gay men. He's just lovely.
‘It comes out wherever books aren’t banned…” THAT is the type of dry, backhanded, witty humor I live for. Love Sean so much.
He’s brilliant!
@@myrnashoults9735 Plus he's a brilliant concert pianist. Plus he can belt out a song like nobody's business!
@@chevychase plus he and colbert look like twins. Sean and mucho heterosexual bible devotee Colbert look and sound like twins.
Twinning

✨✨I’m still holding-out for the day Sean is cast in the life story of Paul Lynde. He has that same quick wit and energy. Sean is ALWAYS the funniest and most talented in EVERYTHING. I ADORE him❣️✨✨
Ooohh that would be great casting!
Lynde had a really sad, interesting life. That would be amazing!
This would be perfection!!
Shady! "How long did they give you?". " Available wherever books aren't banned.". I love this show.💖
You could tell Steven was pleased with himself with that line. 😝 Sean walked right into it! 😂😂😂
wow i could watch these two talk all day, 7+ mins was definitely not enough. Sean was so quick witty and Stephen kept up with him so well

With those glasses and haircut, he and Matthew Broderick could be brothers.
I KNOW RITE….?
He is THE best!! 😂 I ❤ him SO much!
INCREDIBLY talented guy.
Jack Parr said of Oscar Levant's troubled wit "For every pearl that comes out of his mouth a pill goes in"
If Stephen can send underwear to his guests, he could send a pair to The David.
Thank you for the The Show of Love and support❤
Love Hayes! ❤
Sean Hayes you rock!❤

for a second there, I thought they were gonna do the 'Shag' during that entrance.
I will always know him as Jack. Soo lovable. It’s hard to see people age as we all do.
Please let it be trump’s arrest, while Stephen is live on air.
😂 LOL 😂

What does that have to do with Sean Hayes!??????
Levant was an incredible, Jewish, manic wit who was ahead of his time and hilarious! He wrote "Blame it on my Youth."
Seanie. Love you.
i loved that joke on some ones roast where i think Seth McFarland said, 'Sean is the reason Mike Pence thinks we have hurricanes'
Great interview 👍 ❤
I have to watch his Broadway show!!
Nothing promotes reading more than Banning books.
I can’t wait to get my hands on that book
Wow - I thought he was Matthew Broderick for a minute!
