Historically, the gavel is there to patch up the desk, fixing loose nails that may be poking up out of the desk while in court. That way you bring society justice and fix desks all at the same time.
I hope this question didn't take too much of your time Todd! Show some energy, you're making this come off as you doing community service for your sentencing
The UK has never used Gavels. A gavel in medieval english is a term for "tribute or rent payment made with something other than cash.". Dinky little hammers were not, and have not been used in English courts.
@@-AbdulRahman Indeed. I was in court for public intoxication. This judge was notorious. If you wear your cap or hat into the courtroom she would send the whole drunk tank back for another day. One guy gave her some lip, approached the bench, and she chased him with the gavel. I swear. This was 40 some years ago. You would be surprised what judges could get away with back then.
The "be quiet" hammer.

Judges use gavels to startle a defendant after they pronounce him: "GUILTY !!!"

It is a be quiet button. Sometimes I do the same thing at school but with a ruler and book rather than hammer and gavell
why is this framed so strangely?
This is the Japanese aesthetic of balance
I just want to know what makes them as loud as they are.
James Brolin is a judge?
Yes! I totally thought that was James Brolin too! His voice isn't as deep, but his face, eyebrows, hair, everything looks exactly like James Brolin!
way to answer it in the slowest way possible
Have there even been any cases of judges having to use gavels in self defense against any assailants?
lol
hahahahha nice one

Nonsense. A gavel is used by Auctioneers. A judge in the UK or Ireland has never ever used a gavel.
Shortest history
lol Bob todd
Actually, they use the gavel to end the case and make their judgment. Only Judge Duty doesn't. She don't need one with that loudmouth of hers.
Only if she used it
Thanks for no information at all
