I'm doing exactly the same same now during lockdown in the UK to my 87 GSXR1100. Changing both 5th gears and bushing plus driveshaft main bearing and all circlips. Done 24,000 miles and the main crank bearings look like new. Regards.
Interesting video. It seems from what ive read there was an engineering error on the hayabusa and m109 2nd gears. I assume youve taken many cases apart. Are most OEM gearsets undercut? I imagine the lack of backcutting could slowly allow wear that makes the dog act overcut.
@@TheOriginalBorne2Build Are you saying only 1st-3rd are usually undercut? I don't understand why they would not undercut all of them. When i found out about hayabusa and m109 trans problems i was shocked, especially when you consider how much time, money, and effort likely went in to developing the hayabusa.
@@TheOriginalBorne2Build Goof think a friend is a Robinson distributor...I think an air shifter is a good thing for a dragbike..as long as the kill is set properly ..those "partial shifts are a killer.
How much does that cost to do. Trying to knock my head off to do mine. It’s just 2 nd gear. Can I ride with it. It will go into second but will slip at 5k rpm
Wanna fix it asap before more damage occurs. Very unsafe as well. I would address other gears while in there. Average cost is about 1500 with good upgraded parts.
Its perfectly watchable lol you're too sensitive, have you ever had a conversation in an actual shop?? Lol this is a silent afternoon in central park in comparison.

When going hard 1st gear and not going smooth to 2nd you bump off the sides of your 2nd gear. ⚙️
It will be pushing out of 2nd gear.

Yes especially now day. Manufacturers are undercutting but only 1st 2nd and 3rd. Now I think all are these days.

I would of got some of that plastigauge stuff for fear of reaching that expensive as hell crankshaft.😮
is it better to have superior film strength or viscosity for a crank bearings and trans life?
Good quality oil period. Cryogenic treatment and heat treatment helps
