He isn't unknown. He is the father, the son, the husband, the fiancee who never came home. He is the pal from the northern mill towns, he is the uncle you never met, he is the man in the photo in a thousand houses. He is all that and more.
Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we shall remember them.
We may never know who he is. We may never know his story but he shall stand immortalised, buried amongst kings in the house of god. In my defens god me defend
He is your father , your brother, you son. He embodied the best that the British empire and its commonwealth had to offer. When terror overcome europe he stood and a man alone against the tyranny
Truly sobering to consider all the lives that were lost, the hopes and dreams that were destroyed, because of dysfunctional royal families that could not keep their personalities and jealousies in check, and who led Europe into the First World War, which has been termed event by which Europe agreed to commit suicide.
3.45 You`d have thought he would have dressed a bit smarter than a pair of trainers, ill fitting trousers and saggy turtle neck jumper. Show some respect
I was just about to write exactly the same. You see far better dressed presenting the weather on the BBC. More akin to a window cleaner. I bet he wouldn't turn up a relative's funeral like that so why no respect to the thousands that this tomb represents?
My Great Uncle was one of the pallbearers from the Citadel in Bologne to the ship. So proud to have that connection.

I LOVE this. So beautifully written. Thank you
My Great Great Uncle Arthur was missing presumed killed in action in Loos in 1917. This tomb is a powerful representation for all families.

I toured Westminster Abbey and I stood by the grave of the Unknown Solider for 5-10 minutes with tears running down my face it was emotional
I’m visiting the grave for my birthday with Woody.EXE as Wales’s monarchs
its impossible to stand near this tomb and not be moved, for me its the heart of this country.
He is a god of the kings one of the many that bought our freedom by ending theirs , rip sleep tight and stag on !
Greatest of the great🏴

There always has to be one griper who cannot respect the seriousness of the situation because they think their opinion is so fing important.
Three utter cretins voted this video down.
Maybe they didn't like the video format or something else, not the idea itself?
😢❤️🇬🇧🇺🇲

Funny thing is he could have been an ops dressed in British soldier uniform trying to infiltrate and there he is in British chapel amongst his enemies
There's no "funny thing" here.
