I have hag 3 different lake models... all are great... When I had this model 12 years ago... there were very heavy and I went over to BONT. I am now on the 300 series Lake and like them. I am considering theses.
Hi, I cannot try on the CX403 in my city. I did try on the Shimano S-PHYRE SH-RC901 and I need a 43.5 WIDE, which Shimano does not make, they only make a 43.5 REGULAR. What size of CX403 or CX403 WIDE would I need for my feet?
Hi i noticed the carbon weave pops out in a straight line on your lower part of your shoe. Should be normal after moulding or considered damage carbon?
@@OwainMatthews sorry im from indonesia my english is not good. I recently bought the same shoe then i heat mould it following the lake instructions. When its done i notice a line of carbon weave around rear right and left looks quite worrying . Then i saw this video and i also see the same.maybe its the parts where the carbon widens after heating. Its the part under the rear big lake logo.
@@rickyricardo1238 I noticed the same thing. Even at 720p there are a couple very noticeable strands of carbon not laying smooth on the right shoe just under the Lake logo as it is shown laying on side @1:31.
Hi, a bit later, but great review. Since I have no way to try these before I purchase, I wonder if you know how they correspond to S-works 7 shoes size wise? I am 44.5 in those, and the Lake's size guide puts me in 45s, but it is still a 500 dollar gamble, so any info in this regard would be highly appreciated
Are you talking about how the upper breathes? There are vents on the carbon sole and upper. Kangaroo leather is light and duarable so probably not as ventilated as a synthetic material, but much better quality. I live in Australia and don't struggle with them being hot, especially if a good fit.
@@OwainMatthews thanks. Right now I have a pair of shoes that are tight. Going to take some measures to see if I need a regular or wide in the lake sizing. Then I have to decide between the cx332 and these cx403. One thing that it really made sense to me as a benefit is that two part boa systems. One thing though is that I've read lake uses one directional boa and not two way like in mostly all other high end shoes. Maybe I'll try to wait for them to introduce the new li2 boa dials.
@@PedroPrego I believe they changed and updated the whole one-way BOA system a couple years back. Picked up a pair of 402's and they were able to be adjusted both ways, forward and backward.
Ive not worn the CX241's so I can't compare, but the the CX403 is a good volume shoe, compared to CX332 0r CX302. The benefit of the CX241 is the separate sections for fastening which makes them very customisable.
@@OwainMatthews thanks for your response i love my 241s they are a great fit for a variety of foots and adjusting the boas on the fly to your comfort zone is great im getting custom insoles as well
I just received my CX402. After I put them on just to see how they feel, the toe cap area is very tight. Do you believe after the heat process that area will be more comfortable and loose? I don't want to go thru the heating process if toe cap cannot be adjusted.
I am seriously considering the 403 Speedplay model. I really dislike the clunky thick adapter plates on my Sidi Wire 2 Carbons. Unfortunately it looks like we have to choose between either the wide shoe or the Speedplay 4-bolt pattern.

Have the wide version and absolutely love them. You might need an insole to support your arch. No brainer acquisition. Seem to be true to size.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'pops out'

@@obikedog its because of the heat moulding i guess. Causing the fibre to split
@@rickyricardo1238 I have the same weave after few heat moulding
Hi , Just wondering - should they fit same / similar to the 402’s ? My 403’s feel tighter than my older 402’s. Same last ?
Pretty much, but it can be dependent on if you heat mold them exactly the same. I'd actually say my 403's have slightly more volume than my 402's.
how the fit - are they narrow or quite spacious - also do they come up small or true to size. I tried a cx 332 in a 46 and they came up small. cheers
They have good volume and quite a bit of space. The CX332 is narrower than these. I wear a 46 in these, the same as other brands.
@@OwainMatthews thanks mate - just ordered a pair -when half size up

@@vlajkoify check the mm sizing for each. In spesh I'm a 42, but lake says 42.5 for me too. Although considering a 42 for lake too.
I've read complaints regarding being very warm/hot. How's tour feedback on that?

Cleat placement options?
They come in 3 and 4 bolt options. The wide platform gives space for a lot of adjustment.

How is the weight without the cleat for the single shoe?
Approximately 275g, depending on your size
