I simply love the way you explain things! I was having a hard time trying to understand color and painting in Ps and now you bring knowledge in a simple way to do it, please keep the good job and thank you so much!❤️
THIS!!! OMG, THIS!!! THIS IS THE STYLE I WAS LOOKING FOR MY PROJECT! This coloring looks beautiful, so professional, and very easy to follow! Thank you! Once I finish my project, I will show it to you! Thanks! A big hug since MexicO!
@@JessBircham Thank you! Your reply inspires me even more! :) Once I finish a couple of duties, I will continue with my project. Thanks again! A big hug since MexicO!
I have seen many tutorials, yours are definitely one of the best, easy, on-point and super helpful! Thank you sooooooo much! You're such an art angel!!!
Thanks for another great tutorial, Jess! I'm so excited to know you sketch in pencil and then refine in ink before scanning! I'm in love with your process! xox
Good question! I tend to make my art a little bigger than maybe necessary so I can always increase the size if I need to. So long as you have it at 300ppi that is really good quality and you can change the size later without losing quality.
Thank you Jess great tutorial, I have been attempting this only my layers do nor see correct, when i drop the colorng layer below the drawing it is coloring behind wonder if you know as to why , i have tried all diferent ways with no success, I am going wrong somewhere, help?
Hi Carole - make sure your drawing layer is set to multiply and is above your color layer. Your color layer should be set to normal. So basically what it is doing is making the drawing layer as if you had drawn it on a piece of tracing paper. You are still able to see the drawing but the color then shows up underneath. Hope this helps!
Love your tutorials. I always get so inspired. Is there a blending tool for watercolor you recommend? I was never able to download the one you referred to before.
I just use the smudge tool in Photoshop - that's all I used for this tutorial. You can play with the brush type and the strength to get it to blend in different ways. Thanks for watching!
Love your tutorial like always :) Have you tried watercolors with Krita? I'm making a game for my master thesis for the Asian market and I had to find a good tool for water painting, since its the most popular style in here. I follow your tutorials with ps, but in the end I think that Kritas watercolor brushes are better. Thank you for all your tutorials btw !
You are the second person to recommend Krita - I am going to have to check it out! I use Photoshop as it's the industry standard and easy to use for production. What I'm dying to try right now is Procreate on the iPad Pro. Thanks for watching! :-)
I've been using PS for 10 years already, that is why I was surprised how easy it was to start using Krita for digital painting. Seriously, give it a try, it is totally free ! I strongly recommend downloading Jackpack brushes, they are incredible and also free :)
@@JessBircham If you plan on using Procreate one day, I'd recommend you get "Everything Watercolour from Designcuts.com", as someone who has been following your watercolor tuts for Photoshop I kept on searching for a nice watercolor brushes for Procreate, I have had a tons! But that one that I recommend is just wow! I finally can do what you do in Photoshop but in Procreate (I'm not sponsored, just a happy customer)
You make it look so easy! lol Are you using this basic brush always now instead of the watercolor brush you previously used? And you are not using multiply mode anymore? I love to watch the different ways you can just effortlessly create a beautiful painting in PS!
Hi Vikki - aww thanks! You know it just depends on my mood lol. I like to have a change from watercolor every now and then and it doesn't hurt to try new methods ;-)
Thank you for your video. I am new to digital painting. I wanted to ask what Wacom tablet you would recommend for a beginner and also wanted to ask you what photoshop software you were working in, I believe you said it was CC 2015? Thank you!
I use the latest Photoshop CC software and a Wacom Intuos Pro medium tablet. Start with any Wacom tablet you can afford and work your way up. Good luck!
Hi Jess my layers are not working the same as yours when I set the blend to normal on both the painting is below the drawing, if I set it back to mulitply on the drawing and normal on the layer all is correct when I start on the drawing I want to be able to have the solid color so I am puzzled again
Hmm I'm a little confused - sorry it's hard to tell whats going on with your computer unless I'm sitting in front of it. So long as you are only using the drawing layer for a drawing set to multiply it should show up fine as long as it sits above the color layer. Color layer stays on normal and sits below the drawing layer. Trial and error I'm afraid! Sorry I can't be of more help.

Please keep making videos on digital painting. Your techniques have changed the way I make art.
Wow that's awesome to hear! I will - thanks for watching! :-)

sorry that should be the coloring is on top of the drawing layer, although I have tried both ways with no success
