- One of the most common repairs I've come across is repairing wedding rings from when they've been cut in order to take them of your finger. So here I'm just making a basic repair to the cut section.

A bit of verbal explanations would be great throughout your video. Coming from the blind community I run into a lot of videos like this that have no verbal explanations at all. Otherwise, I am told that it is a good video.
If you would bring your cut ring together then take a flat file with a double edge and foul both sides together at the same time you get a much smaller soldering crack

I believe it is flux to absorb copper oxides and help the gold solder flow freely through the crack he is welding together

I have many rings that have been broken,,jewlery shop wants 150 to repair and resize old wedding band for my wife,,she gained weight and it doesent fit,,she accidentally sbnapped it trying to enlarge it with a ring enlarger,,i have a garage/shop with normal tools,,vise etc,,,can you tell me what type files i would need and what type of saw blade so i see being used to cut ring..i bought some gold solder awhile back,,,id like to learn how to do the repairs at home if possible..do they make a kit that has the tools needed to make repairs,.great video,,any info is appreciated,,
I'm in the process of making wedding bands from scratch and ran into a similar problem. I went to the welding section at a ranch store and got some boron flux, that appears to be what he puts on the cut section first before adding some gold solder. I've most also just used various dremel bits and regular, albeit small triangle files. hope that helps!
