The Amel 50 is one of the finest bluewater yachts you can buy. The yard is well known for their experience to build high quality yachts, among them the legendary "Super Maramu".
Well, it is a very comfortable boat and if you have the budget, it could be on the short list. With yachts, bigger is not always better - especially with a small crew. You will have 2 people using a boat in most cases. A bigger boat may cause more stress in a difficult situation. Single handed or with crew of 2, I would always choose a boat between 40 to 45 ft.
Oh yes, I understand. Here in California there really has not been a surge in sailboat sales for decades. An Amel 53 footer came up for sale in Marina Del Ray a few months ago, and sold in about three days. They have a very good reputation.
Just wondering what happens when you hit something with one of those unprotected rudders. I have hit logs floating out there at night and its a very large bump. I was thankful the rudder on my boat is behind the keel and on a skeg.
kind of hard to tell since I don't read German....I'm also interested in an aluminum hulled boat. Seem to lean towards an Allures and if money was no object, perhaps a garcia. Are you intending to use electric propulsion? This is also a big interest of mine. Just wondering what the difference in cost was for elec vs diesel in terms of the motors and then in terms of battery banks. Any info you'd like to share would be greatly appreciated!
Please write me an email at info@viatormarine.com and I would be pleased to answer your questions. Have you checked out our new model Viator Explorer 42 DS ? It is a true aluminium bluewater cruiser like the Garcia, but much faster. :-) The Allures as well as the Ovni are like any other fiberglass boats, just with an aluminium hull. But no special features that make them "exploration yachts". www.viatormarine.com/viatorexplorer42ds
Depending on what sailing plans you have, there is a big difference between Allures, Garcia or our own design Viator Explorer 42 DS. The Allures or also the Ovni are just fiberglas boats with an aluminium hull. There is nothing special on them, nothing to make them "exploration yachts". The Garcia are true exploration yachts, but they are very heavy and therefore slow. That was the reason to make our own design. The Viator Explorer 42 DS is a very fast exploration yacht. Also full electric twin-propulsion system with 2x Bellmarine DriveMaster Ultimate 10KW. Costs are about the same, as the motors are much cheaper than a diesel, but the batteries are more expensive.
In general, a ketch rigged boat of the same size will have a shorter main mast, a consideration if you're sailing the ICW. It also lowers the center of effort, resulting in a somewhat less tender boat. Ketches also give you more options as to sail plan. However, they cost more due to the added complexity of the rig, both to buy new or to maintain an older boat
This is a hard choice. Both boats are wonderful. But if you have the budget to buy one or the other, then you have plenty of options. For the same amount of money you can build your customized cruising yacht in aluminium. This was our choice. We hired a famous yacht designer and developed the Viator Explorer 42 DS. We will document the building process in this UA-cam channel. See this link for a drawing of the boat: www.viatormarine.com/yachten
The price is not relevant for this video, because a) you can find it everywhere in the Internet and b) it depends a lot on the configuration of the boat. There is not "the price".
The modern hull with a large transom asks for a double rudder. A single rudder would be extremely long and therefore a risk, if there is a collision. With a double rudder the boat is better under control.
I can agree with you. But,on the other hand, especially in the Mediterrenian,if you want to get mooring, going back towards the pier you can hardly drive your yacht because the double rudder doesn't get water from the propeller.
Seeing the number of people milling about this on boat in every ‘Locker’ makes me wonder just how many are ‘actually’, a. in a position to even consider buying or b, capable of sailing it? The ‘real’ buyers must surely get very frustrated attending these events waiting about for ‘the dreamers’ to get ‘the hell out of it’. It looks beautiful and how wonderful and privileged you’d be to ‘Own’ such a vessel.
Yes, usually the yards of the premium boats try to limit the amount of visitors, but here we had one very large group of people who wanted to see the boat together. I was a bit unfortunate to be on board at the same time.
Thats a piece of what these boat shows are about.... It would be very intimidating to Dreamers or less knowledgable to even approach these boats normally. (Whats wrong with dreaming?) It gives public access , you never know which dreamers Business takes off or Other Financial increase or partially from going to these shows And learning these boats may influence/help A Wealthy relative or friend into the Sailing World..... Or may help Crew or maintain these Sailing Vessels. Theres a Lot of support and infrastructure needed All over the World and People to do that. Boat shows part of what facilitates all that. IF your a serious Buyer Believe it , You will get Access all you need to these Vessels. It's a good crowd at these shows and Crowds increase the excitement... It's good. Love the looks on peoples faces enjoying crafts like this....
Jim, even on the production boats the access is limited. For example I had to wait half an hour to get on board of the Jeanneau 440 (video is also in my channel). There are many good reasons to limit access. First of all safety regulations from the exhibition company. Then as a boatbuilder you want to provide your customers the best possible experience when visiting your boat. As you said, you don't know who will be the next buyer. If a boat is so crowded like the Amel 50 was, then you don't enjoy your visit. You don't see the details of the boat design, you are just pushing through this crowd. This is very unusual for a premium boat. But actually everybody can have access, you just need to make an appointment. Nobody is turned away.
Here because of DELOS. On the top of my list when I win the lottery. A truly amazing sailing machine.
I really love this boat. The ocean can be a really tough place to be. This boat makes it a joy to be punished for being out there. My kind of boat.
What a great looking boat,
Thanks for the video :)
It was a pleasure to visit the Amel 50. And the pleasure would be much bigger to own such a boat. :-)
A ROYAL CLASS yacht with ALL the LUXURY not too big not too Small just the Right size !!

SV Delos has done so much for Amel Sailboats.

Completely missed the aft section what was the point !
You can see the aft section starting at 1:03. I couldn't make a photo from outside, because there is a wall. No access.
the price of the boat was there... why you do not show it too???

Delos brought me here !!
...Just have two friends eat a bunch of Mexican food with lots of garlic the night before. A few good farts will clear everyone out:)
музыка почти из титаника))
You are welcome. (whatever you said)
He said Music is almost from Titanic)
But why with double-rudder ?

@@petercsurgai9951 Bow thruster will help
@@hakmingwai5064 You are right - stern-thruster for extra cost....
I am willing to trial this boat for you, :)
I'm sure you would. But there is a vey long queue...
Delos dreaming!
This would be a great boat to sail to Delos

Thx All good. Good film (Even with the crowd) And Very Nice Boat! Be a treat to own one! Best of luck.
Jim, thanks for your feedback. Yes, the Amel 50 is a great boat and every owner can be considered lucky to have one.
