Most members use their newer 2d models because those are more articulate and overall better designed compared to older 2d models but still stuck with whatever their 3d model version is until they get a new one.

the popularity of Hololive and other vtubers has been a breath of fresh air in the entertainment sphere. in recent years (mostly in the West) there have been so many people in the industry that have gone out of their way to demean and insult their potential fans. there are so many big name companies that not only defend and endorse this behavior, but actually ostracize anyone who defends the fans (if they can't browbeat and threaten them into submission). i haven't seen every vtuber yet, but the overwhelming majority of those that i have come across seem to have a surprising level of respect and appreciation for their followers, or at the very least do not openly hate and belittle the people that got them to where they are now.
I mean, its kinda their job to be that way because then the majority of the introverts that make up this type of community would simply not watch if a potentially good personality is ruined by the girl belittling and making fun of their audience. Then again, some fans can be fucking assholes and start up up drama for no reason (*cough* Iofi incident *cough*) and the girls have to put their foot down to not create a toxic environment. Its a careful act of balance between being their usual nice selves and calling out the assholes on their bullshit.
When the Subaru 2D model freezes up near the end, I can just imagine her pacing with excited energy away from the setup, gesturing beyond our perception with her hands as she talks. :3
