First video of yours I’ve stumbled upon! The presentation value is amazing, I was going a little crazy hearing you say “pango pango” for a little thinking I missed something there until you explained. Great video, cheers!
I just found your channel, and as others have said, I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers! Great content, well delivered, and awesome production quality.
As someone who also started uploading cocktail videos recently, I gotta say I thought you’ve been doing this for years when coming across your channel. Really professional👌
Thank you! That means a lot and I appreciate it. When I started doing this a long 4 months ago I was relatively happy with the overal product but looking back it's almost night and day. Thanks for watching!
I liked the background and the ‘fake’ flickering Lanterns - saw one guy who hated them. I liked the 2 different cocktails. Makes me want to experiment a bit
Get ready for more subscribers. UA-cam took a shine to this video and I can see why! 2 oz. of rum along with a full-strength liqueur like Chartreuse makes no. 2 a dangerous cocktail!.
Just a note on a typo-- the specs in your video description list 1/2oz of pineapple juice in the Pago Pago no.2, but in the video you state it as 3/4oz.
@@makeanddrink From the pour footage it looks like you went for 3/4oz! Also looking at the spec, since there's no syrup component that extra bit of pineapple juice sounds like it would help make up the difference against crushed ice.
I tried this drink tonight. I found it to be tart and harsh. The lemon clashed with the cacao, and the chartreuse bitterized everything. The pineapple and rum were there in the background, but just barely. Basically, no flavor profile really jumped to the forefront. It was just lots of flavors fighting with each other.
These both sound awesome! I got a pink pineapple today, so of course I want to try it in a cocktail. Both versions of this are contenders. Great video and cocktail!
The more I analyze this, the more I think I'm going with the Trader Sam's version, but I think I'll serve it in a coupe without ice, and kinda combine the two!
Thank you! I didn’t know pink pineapples were a thing. If you have a Trader Joe’s nearby they have the best store bought pineapple juice in the refrigerator section.
@@makeanddrink I didn't either, until I saw one at a discount grocery outlet today - I felt like $10 was a big price to pay for a pineapple, until I got home and saw that they're way more if you order online. I expect the taste to be about like a normal pineapple, but hey, it looks cool! I'll try the Trader Joe's pineapple juice. I live about ten minutes from one. I was thinking of switching brands from Dole since I feel that it can kind of take on the metallic taste of the can.
So in keeping with your idea of not being too slavish to the original, I've been playing with acid adjusted pineapple juice lately. So for your version, I removed the lime juice, doubled the creme de cacao and upped the Chartreuse to .75oz. It's a bit heady, but came out quite nice. Keep up the good work!
That’s very interesting… so what process or what steps are you using to acid adjust? I’ve had an idea for a video on that for months that I’m thinking of doing shortly. Basically, a way to acid adjust in real time without much thought or prep.
@@makeanddrink I used The Educated Barfly's recipe of 100ml fresh Pineapple juice add 3.2g Citric and 2g Malic (ua-cam.com/video/JZUjOS4BaUs/v-deo.html) I live by Kevin Kos' Super juice lemon and lime.On the fly pineapple acid adjust would be amazing, would love to see that!
@@theintrnationlst I think you’ll like it. I’ve got the process down but it’s just so complicated to explain. Will probably have that in the next few weeks.
You are very very well equipped! I think it would be valuable after you finish reviewing each cocktail to ad a 4 seconds b roll with the recipe on screen like educated barfly does. For this recipe, i would toy with saline.
You're right and I appreciate the feedback. I had done that earlier on with videos but wondered if anyone cared. But turns out that's been something several people have commented on. I've been there too.. take a little screenshot to save for later. Thank you again for your comments and feedback, it's greatly appreciated.
This is clearly a well researched and produced video, and I love the subject matter. However, as a long time How to Drink viewer, I was confused when I clicked this video because from some of the set design choices, the apron/flannel combo, and even the channel name, I 100% thought I clicked on a Greg video. Now, he obviously doesn't have a monopoly on youtube cocktails, but you did have to win me back over in the video, because my knee jerk reaction was that this was a little too similar. It's probably mostly the shirt though.
How dare you! Actually, your comment is valid. I'm sure -when-*_if_* more people see my videos they will obviously get compared to other UA-camrs. I will put some of this out there now as a response which is more than you asked for but also if anyone else has the same reaction they can see here what I have to say. My journey into UA-cam was very naive. I didn't really start subscribing to channels until the pandemic. I wanted to make videos (not content) and my first thought was I'll be a "youtube cocktail guy." Did a quick search and saw what was probably Greg, or someone else with 1M subs, watched 15 seconds, and said "ok never mind that's taken - it's been done." Like I said, naive. Fast forward 1-2 years and I decide to jump into it. I had definitely watched Educated Barfly and several of Spikes Breezway Cocktail Hour (he's awesome, check him out) but once I started I intentionally avoided all other UA-cam cocktail shows. But then I realized that was dumb and I've watched dozens of HTD episodes over the last 3-4 months. If anything, I am trying hard NOT to be like other UA-camrs because I'm like you... I don't want more of the same. Copying on UA-cam is inevitable. Whether intentional or unintentional, it's impossible for the most part to do something new or entirely different. But it also doesn't work in style or substance. I literally can't pretend to be like someone else, I can only be myself or the in-front-of-camera version of myself. Make and Drink - Yeah it has a drink in the name. I spent weeks writing episodes, brainstorming, and talking to myself in the car and I kept saying "Today we're going to make and drink..." So for me, it came naturally. It also wasn't taken and at the time UA-cam handles were coming out so I knew there was no overlap with someone else. Apron - it's a trick... I've fooled you all. I don't even like the apron, but I already that one and it's a ploy. It's a little bit of instant "authority." If I had a camera review channel I'd wear CUTS t-shirts. If I talked about Bourbon, I'd wear Oakleys. Shirt - yeah it does look like his but mine is purple and orange. I do spend WAY too much time thinking about what shirt to wear but I was tired of wearing the black one. It doesn't adequately bring out my tired and bloodshot eyes. Bar/Set - it's a copy of a bar in Healdsburg CA I went to days before starting to build it. No one else gets a monopoly on wood.

I am from Pago Pago
Excellent bar behind you.
Excellent clearly laid out history,
Nice lighting, nice editing, nice light balance.
You earned an immediate suscribe.
It’s like The Educated Barfly and Anders Erickson had a baby their same age 👌
I hope they keep it
A bit of Spike from Spike's Breezway Cocktail Hour!
I just watched his Breezeway Tour last night. He 100% has, and always will have, the best “set” of anyone on UA-cam.
LMAO sooo true, and that’s why I am enjoying this channel….
Excellent background on the history of the drink! Bonus points for nailing the pronunciation too.
I will forever misspell it as Pango Pango!
First video of yours I’ve stumbled upon! The presentation value is amazing, I was going a little crazy hearing you say “pango pango” for a little thinking I missed something there until you explained. Great video, cheers!
Love the detailed history here. Wel done! Thank you for sharing
Extremely high production value, and a ton of knowledge. This channel is about to explode.
Explode or implode? Both probably fun to watch.
100% agree. The algorithm just brought me today
Having grown up in American Samoa, ( Pago Pago is the capital ) I couldn't wait to try this one. I'm building a speakeasy in my attic.
You had me at Chartreuse, and THANKS for the note on pronouncing Pago Pago.
Great video, I enjoyed the history and explanations. I enjoy the variation and will try both back to back.
Love your drinks and the stories behind them! LOVE tiki! Cheers
Very underrated and great channel!
I just found your channel, and as others have said, I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers! Great content, well delivered, and awesome production quality.
Much appreciated!
Same here... Just subbed
Great to see a new quality cocktail channel! Great video!
As someone who also started uploading cocktail videos recently, I gotta say I thought you’ve been doing this for years when coming across your channel. Really professional👌
Thank you! Appreciate your kind words.
You deserve so much more attention! Your videos are so high quality and just keep getting better, too
Thank you! That means a lot and I appreciate it. When I started doing this a long 4 months ago I was relatively happy with the overal product but looking back it's almost night and day. Thanks for watching!
@makeanddrink I'm French, Chartreuse is pronounced with a Z like zoo, not S.
I just found your channel. Loved this video and I will make myself one of these if I can find a bottle of Chartreuse.
Excellent video. I’m just making my way into the tiki world and you’ve got a new subscriber in me. Looking forward to future offerings.
Thank you! As the weather is warming up you can count on many, many more Tiki cocktail videos.
I liked the background and the ‘fake’ flickering Lanterns - saw one guy who hated them. I liked the 2 different cocktails. Makes me want to experiment a bit

2 oz. of rum along with a full-strength liqueur like Chartreuse makes no. 2 a dangerous cocktail!.
All Tiki drinks need to be at least a little dangerous!
Like a lot have said, great production value! After 2 vids, im ready to sub on patreon
Hey pal, quality freakin’ channel. Surprised I just found you. From one YT bartender to another. Cheers! 🥂
Thanks, Vino! I appreciate it. Cheers to you too
Great information
Not hard to tell this channel will gain followers. Let me help that out. Subbed. Keep the content coming.
🍹😁👍THANK YOU
You’re welcome, Bones!
Great channel. I accidentally did a half ounce of creme de cacao on Trader Sam's version and liked it better.
Just a note on a typo-- the specs in your video description list 1/2oz of pineapple juice in the Pago Pago no.2, but in the video you state it as 3/4oz.
Thanks for catching that and letting me know. Problem is now i can’t remember which one is correct 🤔

Pago Pago is absolutely delicious
Nice job dude. I'd love to see a daiquiri video. Keep mixing!
Great video. Haven't seen this drink before. Subscribed.
Awesome! Thank you!
Excellent timing. I kept wondering why you kept saying Pango Pango. Just as I was about to google it, you talked about it. Brilliant? Spooky? Both?

Wait this handsome lad only has 630 subscribers???
Wait… Mom, is this you pretending to be someone else?
😂😂😂

Guessing the app isn't on Google?
Not sure. I’d assume it’s on the Play Store but it is a paid app. We’ll worth it IMO.

🙄
Videos are great! Made this drink and it was gross. Should have known better when buying the ingredients.
First of all you always should double strain esp. when you muddle fresh fruit. Secondly, don't be a poop, freeze your coupe!
I’m actually a big believer in people doing whatever they want to do
Why do you pronounce it with an n in it? It reads Pago Pago, not Pango Pango. Nice set but get rid of the fake lanterns.
He does explain the pronunciation in the video at 3:43.
I love the Fake Lanterns
