Total pass on both from me.
And... who cares. We could've all done without your comment. It adds nothing to the discussion.
@@JohnDoeGoGoGo Actually, his comment does add to the discussion. He is stating his opinion about the product. Your comment on the other hand adds nothing to the discussion of the product.
@@teo72ng17 he is probably the designer 😆
Looks like it was designed by people that doesn't actually use multitools.
Tru Utility are terrible pocket knives and tools. They are normally so blunt they can't cut anything. Also break easy and terrible manufacturing quality I thought they were made by Tesla.
Heat treats are not great on them either, I tried to sharpen one if their G-10 Flipper knives, that a local outdoor shop sells tonnes of, and the 8cr would not even take an edge. And no I didn’t buy one myself I found it in a bush with a very bent out clip.
If they were made by Tesla, then it's no surprise they suck lmao
The 1st knife I bought when getting into edc was true, I wasn’t hip at to edc at the time but I really enjoyed it
It's crazy finding out how many people don't know how to sharpen a knife.
@@NutSAK955 I know how to sharpen knives, for some reason atleast the one I had wouldn’t take an edge
looks to me like the driver is in a direct line with the back corner which when spinning a tool this fat for driving can simplify a pivot technique so try that and tell us if that is perhaps a good design after all or if I'm wrong because I've never seen someone try what I think they tried here give them space and try it
it's a hard "no" for me.
I would love to see a video on steel types and what steel we should be looking for in our knifes/tools
Good idea.
Great idea, terrible execution. I bought one for myself for hiking. the set of tools is exactly what I need, but... half of the useful length of the knife is "eaten up" by the peg (I cut it off), there are huge gaps in all the tools. Spacer rings have the worst quality I ever saw before, made by a press with a tolerance of +/- 0.1 in thickness. The fixing axis screw has an M3.5 thread, which cuts it out through the anti-rotation slot (I had to change it to another one myself). as a conclusion - I would buy one like this even for $100, but in normal quality, otherwise... it’s not even worth those that are sold for $20 on Aliexpress.... 😔
the problem is when designer makes tools but doesnt use tools themselves
I have the multitool and I leave it out on my dresser so my wife can see it and not touch my more expensive multi tools.😂
IMHO, the Surge clones (12.5 oz) and Wave clones (9.5 oz) are not substitutes for this product. I appreciate that True Utility is offering products in the sub 7 oz range, though the poor execution will likely eliminate it as a contender. Weight is a key consideration for me, so I’m on the lookout for full-sized plier-based tools in this size and weight class.
Might i suggest my every day the nextool black knight its 9 oz but you get a full sized pair of springloaded pliers a sharp blade and a wood saw + a full 3 dimension philips bit and a bit kit and my favorite feature a full size pair of scissors
Yeah, these seem like a miss. I do find it's worth checking what they're up to because what Tru Utility lacks in tool steels they make up in trying stuff out. Maybe half their stuff I've tried didn't work out but the other half remains in rotation. Often there's nothing else quite like it:
- TU47 over-the-key tool helps conceal key bitting and has helped out more than enough times to justify the vanishing size.
- TU264 firestash+ peanut lighter adds a built-in carabiner in the top for quick access and return.
Also: blade-wise, almost anything is better than using your remaining teeth and wishful thinking.
I'd buy the bit driver/knife one if I could take it apart and mod my Gerber armbar with the lock system to finally have a decent pocket bit driver. Milwaukee fastback with the screwdriver is only one to do it almost perfect, but the tool is so big in your pocket.
I like the plier based one
bad product
As a knife guy what I'm paying for 14c28n now is 30 to 50 with g10 or mircarta is a game changer now even 20 dollar 440c is normal but the steel that mt companies are using is a joke was saving for a leatherman but 420c please lol and people are religious about em 😅😅😅😅😮😊
Lol, at least 420hc makes some sense, and the frame doesn't have to be more than 420hc for sure.
@@maxlvledc definitely
This is the "Disney of multitools"... The products are made by designers, not actual multitool users.
Going to return my knife/driver, it's unfortunate how difficult opening the bit driver is on mine with just my thumb. I even have issues opening the knife due to how my hand kinda rolls over the top of the knife when I try to open it. Didn't work for me but I hope others have better luck
That overly massive bottle opener would be way more useful if it was extra bit storage in stead.
I've had that bit driver in my Amazon shopping cart forever...think I'll finally pull the trigger
I do wonder how comfortable it is in the hand. Also a 2.75” blade is quite small. I understand not everyone is slicing apples with the same tool they tighten screws… but well i am.
I'm with you, a 3" knife is preferred
What is the price of knife and multiple tool in India.
2:40 That bit driver is a pretty poor design. There's no practical reason to make the opening angled like that.
If they had made it straight like a normal bit driver, the driver itself could be used as a 1/4" nut driver.
Yep, 100%
Thats a cap crimper on the plier head. Leatherman wave also has a version with the crimper in the same location.
True can only be Truer further down the road.
So, basically, what you're saying is that they are both junk - I can't even say junk tools - just junk.
Yep
It is a can opener not a bottle opener!
Nope..just a bottle opener
Hey es ist bei Amazon ausverkauft 😮😮😮
I once bought some true utility tools. Besides the tools were of lesser quality than I expected, there was already some rust on them right from the package! Nothing severe, but come on! Seriously? Rusty stain from the package? The price was nice though and several years have passed since then. I may give true utility another chance one day, but I will always be suspicious abouth their quality.
It looks much to me Like the Gerber armbar slim drive :D
Is but better
Is this the same( true) company from texas??
One of my first edc's was a true ,it held up quite good for what it was
Is it Sale!!😮
Curious if you would buy this if they upgraded to 8Cr13MoV, or would it need to be even better, e.g. D2, before you would seriously consider it.
He posted a good review of some of the Roxon tools with 8Cr knife blades and 5Cr for other implements like the scissors and saw.
8cr would be fine with me honestly..but it's more than 1 problem
@@maxlvledc yeah, that reamer/awl is pretty weird, too.
What the Gerber pry bar should have been
True utility Trueblade edc knife is great, i used that knife for 4 years
6:20 “obteus” is the word I think you are looking for…
Great word
Just get it over and done with get the ☺SURGE☺
The surge has continued to get worse and worse as leatherman QC has dropped, the price and availability of the bits has come into question, and the cutters have been made worse. The $40 surge Clone is far better of a comparison than you may realize.
Leatherman has turned to shit now. Roommate working for them for a Ling time complaining regularly about issues....... not what it was
Спасибо за обзор❤
