Ferreting in snow

- No matter how hard we try to harness and control it, nature does want it wants and we are completely powerless to stop it. When we were ferreting away from home recently, we had a little reminder of just how quickly the weather can turn. When we set off it was bright, cold but dry. We got dropped off and in a squint of a ferrets eye, the sky dusted us in snow. This made ferreting problematic, so we decided to ferret a warren under some tree. The nets were dropped and ferrets entered and after some scary digs and slippery bolts, we decided to cal it a day just after our bacon baps. Ferreting in the snow make look fun, well, it is fun, but you must also be careful. It was a good job we hadn’t laid out any purse nets as they would have been covered and possibly lost. No such problems with the long nets. If the snow was deep enough to cover them then we would have been in a spot of bother.

Brilliant video always perfect place team and sport / job 1 thing that always bothers me though everyone always mentions in there videos or they write a sentence with a pic about how well there dog or dogs are working the ferrets seem to be forgot which is anoying to me the dog or nets or gun or the hands of a human wouldn't have no rabbits atall in the sport of ferreting with out the FERRETS they dont get enough credit how hard they work in the conditions underground and even above ground aswell

Great video, really enjoyed it and very informative, never knew ferrets were so useful.
They are talking about campaigning to ban any Animal from hunting in the UK so enjoy while it lasts. I can't believe this country has got to the point that we create laws for Animals to stop using instincts all because they are owned by a Human.
The law will state the vast difference between hunting as in recreational, and management in regards of pest control. A huge difference. I hope.....

It hasn't but its coming.

Pets4homes has a few good breeders who breed for working lines, their lurchers can range from £200-£500 so not that pricey for a good hunting companion.

I don't like it either.
Even though I feed my ferret a raw diet, at least it's not live. Also this guy is known to be a backyard breeder and puts them in small hutches.
It's very inhumane.
