Gotta tell ya because I've learned it the hard way. Don't ever just close your eyes for welding, even just for a couple tacks. The damage that does to your eyes is not worth it! Put on a welding helmet!
Burn your eyeballs through yout eyelids and give you welder burn on skin that don't tan just peal.

@@KK__x hahaha yep. I used to do that back in the day. Then one night after a lot of tacking putting on some rockers I woke up at like 2am with some gnarly welders flash. That shit tore me up. Won't ever make that mistake again.
@@BarneyLux been there done that, got the Tshirt, never again. Sand in your eyes is pleasurable compared to arc eye. Even just getting sunburnt eyelids would be a whole lot of nope for me.

Never ceases to amaze me the amount of "I love this and want to do it forever" people who don't carry on like they actually plan on doing it long by using best practices. This goes for all kinds of occupations and hobbies too. Some are just more injurious than others.

when the words It's for safety are in the title and the fabricator is putting tacks in with no face shield but has his safety glass's chilling on top of his head while weld spatter is bouncing off his face.
