Scuba diving for treasure and Fun near Nimbus Dam on the American River

- Hi People! Comments are where its at! Today I am SCUBA diving Lake Natoma again, not to far from Nimbus Dam. This is really just a widened portion of the American River. I recover lots of goodies and spend almost two hours under water...
Like and subscribe if you have a mind too...
Hey Mark, I’m watching some of you too videos! 👍🏻 those were some nice paddles hope you kept them! Be safe!
Monica....
There's so much stuff down there, you could make gas money by opening a 'reclamation booth' at the landing! I'm imaging all the more stuff you missed last time, or couldn't carry out!
I like it that he's not out there to help clean up the river but out there just find the good stuff and leave the trash where it's at
Hi Duane, it is all trash. everything in the water is trash. I do not video picking up cans and stuff because I do not think it is interesting or fun to watch when others do it, so I do not include it in my videos. Things with batteries that degrade and leach into the water creating a toxic soup that kills wildlife are always removed. If you enjoy seeing garbage there are some really good channels on UA-cam providing that content, but I appreciate you tuning in here!
Mr. Limpet that absolutely brought me back
This makes me want to go jump into a lake and start finding random things.

Отличный ролик 👍 Сочитание приятного с полезным - и мусора на дне меньше и находки интересные 👌 Удачи , с наступающим новым годом 🍾🍷🎄

enjoy your vids because it's kinda fun exploring with you
on your underwater adventures never know what you'll find
Hi, thanks for watching, the thumbnail portion begins at time stamp 7:52, it is a frame grab from the video. I get your point though, the thumbnail can be seen as leading, it is however exactly what I was thinking when I found the package, DRUGS? I explained with text in the video what the package is.
It was not my intention to offer "clickbait". I did intend to entice as I do with most of my thumbnails, to give a peek at what you may expect. If you take my channel as a whole, I think it will be obvious that I do not engage in deceptive tactics to gain views. The channel is not monetized, I offer these videos because people have shown an interest in them. It is a hobby, an outlet for my love of exploring. I hope you will continue to enjoy the content, I will continue to enjoy providing it. I appreciate you sharing your concern.
@@mokpot sorry man i will correct my mistake
keep up your underwater adventures they are
very entertaining seems like glasses are your
number one find
Looks like things have been down there a long time. I would go back with a metal detector.
I have never taken a detector there before... that could be fun!
My dad worked in Carson City for years as a registered book binder for the State of Nevada and told me that people would go nuts for those old medicine bottles. I think the other bottle looked like it was for cream. He said people would even dig up the public parks looking for bottles. Love lake Tahoe they go to extreams to try and keep that lake clean. Its beautiful! Great video fun to watch.
Old bottles are what initially got me hunting for things lost and tossed. The little bottle is a milk bottle, it is interesting to see what was considered a single serving 100 years ago, two swallows...lol Glad to have you tuning in.
When you found the shoe t thaugjt nabee you would find Jimmy Hoffa down there lol looks like fun
Not yet... but I will keep looking.
Love this. Id love to do it but so scared!
Id rather watch you :)
Of all the dive videos iv seen. Glasses seems to be the most found item by far
StickyG... great name BTW Yeah... sunglasses!
Good video! Thanks for picking up all that trash. Every little bit counts.
Thanks for tuning in!
At 1:35 when you pick up the glasses you miss a golden ring or coin to the right
no... that is an asian clam shell notice the small size in relation to my hand...
@@mokpot i trust your judgment! Thanks for the reply, have a happy new year
You need one of those mesh bags to put all the stuff in you find. lol Looks like a lot of fun and wish my health would allow me to drive. But I will just have to live it through great people like you. See you on the next dive.
Hi Ken, I am glad you are along for the adventure! As for mesh bags, I do carry them, usually two, on my dives. I still need to hand carry the large items, fishing poles, paddles, anchors, and such. the bags I carry are smallish', I find the large ones get in the way, drag the bottom, and frankly hold to much, hard to swim with 50 pounds of trash. I use my large and extra large ones primarily for clean up dives, where I have topside help. Thanks for tuning in, its great to have you watching!

Thanks for tuning in
What a horrible mess down there. Now I remember why I rarely go swimming anymore, and when I do I never got barefoot. I swam in the American River in the mid 1970's and it was really clean. Though it was probably a long ways upstream.
Hello Duck, The American River, (proper) while it has it's share of trash, is much cleaner that this area, which is in fact the end part of Lake Natoma near the dam. Most of the trash is around the CSU Aquatic Center... Continue swimming the beautiful American River, but always wear shoes, those rocks can be sharp!
There must be a million pairs of sunglasses (total) laying at the bottom of all the lakes and rivers here in the US!! Dude, if you were using a metal detector, then you would start finding more jewelry and coins.
I agree about the Metal Detector. The problem using it here is the visibility will be zero as soon as I swing it. I intend to make a video showing this on day... Thanks for tuning in!
That is a lot of stuff you found in the one place. I think the most in one area I have watched so far. Could you imagine the stuff that was looked over.
Hi Keli, I agree, this area has a thick silt covering in areas, 8" or more. I have often wonder what is lost under there. Thanks for tuning in.
You be surprise how much coins , jewelry , rings , is down there being miss WITHOUT a detector ?
Thanks for watching
That's a good bobber right there!
I agree, a very nice bobber! Thanks for tuning in!
hello dear i am from india and i love the way you clean the river bed but if i have to do the same i would go mad , hats off to you but i think u missed a lot there as a ring over there

Aaaaaahahahaha! Mr. Limpet I loved that movie!
did you experience seing dead body under water?
Das Limpet! Incredible! Great film. Man, that river is crapped up....... sad.
Yes.. this spot is the end by a damn... popular for activities, and dropping stuff.

No one cares
Me and my friend dove the American 40 years ago at the falls during the summer and always found LOTS of wallets, purses and Varnet sunglasses.
At the falls? where is that?
If memory serves it was near gothe Park. may be spelled wrong.? The rafting company's put in upstream, and we always found lots of cash, purses, wallets ect. as most people did not navigate the falls well and overturned. The eddy pushed everything right up under the falls.
Mm mmmmm why there no fish ?
Wow i have never seen so many finds in so little time and space awesome video!!
Thabks for watching Caleb
I can see that youre just looking for some valuable stuff. You should try to help pick some trash as well. That would be awesome.. little by little, you can help mother nature.
Hi Nicole, I appreciate you tuning in and taking time to comment. It is all trash... every bit of it. I don't sell this stuff. Most of it ends up in the trash can. I like to get anything with a battery out of the water, very bad. Seriously, I remove hundreds of pounds of crap from the water every year... I am sorry if this is not enough for you.
Like I said in my comment earlier, check out DALLMYD to see how it is done. That guy is the standard of what all the people attempting a dive channel should be. From being a good samaritan and returning people's things, to cleaning up the rivers. He is one cool guy in my book that I would love to meet an shake his hand

I watch a lot of your videos.
I keep it simple, I use windows movie maker.
awesome
Thank you!
7:52 thank me later...
OK, let me know when...
Living on a river, it makes me so sad to see all of the garbage on top of the water..so sad that we have polluted all the water ways..I’m glad to see that you can get some of it up! Love your videos! 👍🏻
Hi Cindy, Thank you!
I’ve found cool things along the American river as well like a dolor bill that was ripped
The water is so skary may goodness
Not to bad! thanks for watching
Awesome video,s Mokpot
Thanks Andy
You should think about some diving along the Florida cost. There must be tonnes of coke there.
lol
I used to live in Florida (Tyndall AFB) when we did beach clean ups I recall someone found packages of coke
That would be an interesting find. Thanks for tuning in!
Fi I used to free dive in Folsom Lake at the public beach. The stuff I found was about what you are finding except for the phones. The bottom was littered with ponytail holders and loose change.
Hi Sarah, somethings never change
You should have taken a mesh bag and collected all u could.. not just the 'good' finds. Man vs river is WAYYYY better
Ya true
🤫
Well, thanks for watching!
I was doing this stuff 20 yrs ago without cameras. It was a great day if you found a pair of Oakleys, haha
Hi Amanda... I was also doing this 20 years ago without cameras... : ) I started doing this on video about 5 years ago when some friends asked me to show them... then other friends from work asked, so I put it on UA-cam. I noticed a few weeks later it had hundreds of views... so i put up another one, then another... I appreciate hearing from you, thanks for taking time to comment. Mark

Well done! Thanks! Rox
Good idea for free diving, SCUBA is a different story. It is unwise to repeatedly surface while SCUBA diving, it can lead to DCS Decompression Illness, commonly called the Bends. But I do appreciate your input! Thanks for tuning in RK
Yes all the trash you see you are supposed to remove , that's part of the deal . but you missed a couple rings too
LOL... only when people enter the water are they required to spend all their time and energy picking up trash...If you go to the beach, state, or national park, you can just walk past it, step over it, or select a spot away from it. Thanks for tuning in Tinker, good to hear from you!
Not what i mean but some would help , and if no one trough out any thing would be better , i spend much time picking up trash while metal detecting , not just saying you sorry it came out that way .
Tinker, all is good, I do spend a lot of time explaining that I all most always come out carrying a full bag of trash... I can only carry so much and still surface! The secret that everyone seems to miss is, it is all trast! Every bit of it... Your polite comments and views are welcome, thanks for taking time to comment.
Your welcome and it was a good video ,
nice .. loved it

Hello from California, thanks for tuning in.
Wow, the STUFF! Incredible what you found there. Looks like you need to instruct those Boys in Bloo how to find stuff!
Good video as always, bro! BTW. Your getting decent view numbers. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Don, always good to have you chime in. I am always glad to help out when I can.

"The incredible Mr. Limpet"? Too funny!
: D
i can't believe this video because I'm a dive master in Maldives. i have five years experience in under water service. i dive 48 meters in under water still i can't fund anything like this......
this UA-cam people will fix something under water after they will chest views try to understand Guy's
Hey Anandhu, you should try diving in other places, your experiences would be very different. 5 years may seem like a long time but when you have another 20 years or, perhaps 40, you will realize how little you knew then . I encourage you to dive in other environments, visit other countries if you get the opportunity. Dive lakes and rivers, I have no doubt you will eventually find some awesome things. I appreciate you taking time to watch this video and I hope to hear from you again.
Extraordinary hobby and there are benefits

I used to live there in Iowa hill.. Right on the American river. Loved it
It is a nice area, thanks for tuning in Erika
U didn’t even pick up the weird bag?!!!!!
What weird bag? What is the time stamp where you saw it?
Imagine what's under all that sediment..if only you could blow it away !
Hi Nina, Yes, imagine as I have... I could very easily blow it away however, as you can see in the video, even small movements raise large clouds. A fin kick will obscure everything in that area for a full 5 minutes. Blowing it away with my scoot would leave me in a total blackout for quite awhile. But that is food for thought... perhaps I can come up with a way....
Hi mokpot .
Yes I can well imagine you'll end up in pea soup...get your thinking cap on...there must be layers of history just waiting to be discovered.
Really enjoy your videos..quite soothing to watch. Thank you from UK 😊
you can! you just flip his blower around that he uses to get around, and voila he just has to kick a little bit and he has a sediment blower!
Bro you missed a lot of stuff down there .
Hey NP, true, but I can only carry so much and be able to surface, lol. It will be there for the next dive.
As ever love the videos, it must be hard to spot anything with all that silt, you must have a load of paddles at this stage, I as always have a huge amount of respect for you and what you do to remove all the crap some people dump in the waterways around the world, keep up the great work👍👍😀
Thank you very much!
You picked up all the junk and left the coke??? Are you crazy?? 😆😆😆

Everything I take is garbage.
True.
perhaps if people stop dumping it in the river, like there personal garbage dump..i flyfish this rive all year round, and after those fools finish the party, they just leave the garbage behind..about 95% do

Hey Loitur, If you are a certified diver I am open for a dive wth you but not at Nimbus, I would not rank that as a beginner dive site for several reasons. Since you have only dived in a pool I would guess you are not certified...???

So much crap down there!!
Indeed!

Thank you!
Thanks for cleaning the river.
Thanks for watching
I think the holy grail is down there
I know right? Crazy how much stuff is lost or tossed. How did you manage to secure that name?!!
I love your videos but you really should be picking up trash each time you dive also.
Hi Chris... i always leave the water with my bags full... everything I pick up is trash. I do not often show grabbing soda cans and such, i do not think it is interesting to watch. Things with batteries, like a cell phone are my target items, not because i need more non working phones but, because a single cell phone battery can contaminate 600,000 liters of water! That is 158,000 US gallons. A bottle or a can... nothing. I appreciate you watching the videos and taking time to comment. If trash collecting is what you like to watch there are some really great YTers out there doing a lot of it. Take care!
I was fishing from a float tube at the base of the nimbus dam and we were kicked out. They said you couldn't be out in the water due to strong undercurrents from the dam if they were to open a spillway. Careful out there man.
Now you can't even fish the base of the nimbus dam...

Looks like you just leave the trash you find..not cool!
Yes it looks like that. everything I take is trash. I am not the janitor of the waterways. Additionally I edit the videos, I do not show everything I see and do, I would not tune in to watch someone picking up garbage, so I don't make videos of that. This is UA-cam, I have no doubt you can find someone making videos of that if you want to watch it. All the best to you, thanks for tuning in.
