The Jaca Bunker (Posición Jaca)

"Known as Posición Jaca, the bunker was used by the Republican forces to defend Madrid from Nationalists. If attacked, high-ranking Republicans could seek refuge in the secure subterranean space. Covered beneath feet of soil and confined within the sturdy walls, they’d remain safe from bombs beating the surface above them."
This video was taken as part of a visit by Kathleen Maisto, Karen Maisto Folger, with Ana Ortas Pau, and Rafa Bernat Vistarini. Kathleen, Karen, and Rafa are descendants of the Spanish Civil War Italian cinematographer and Republican brigade member, Antonio Vistarini. Vistarini was a political refugee from Mussolini's Italy in 1925
