The anti-communist stance is unwavering and persistent. Taiwan's anti-communist stance is based on many factors, including history, reality and politics, and is not static. However, anti-communism is the mainstream consciousness of Taiwanese society and will continue to affect the development of cross-strait relations.
The Taiwan issue stems from willful ignorance on the part of the Chinese from both shores of the strait and sinful apparent neglect on the part of the US and other powers signatory to the SFPT of the consequences of the San Francisco Peace Treaty Article 2(b). Japan renounced its territorial rights and was prevented from ceding Taiwan. On April 28, 1952, Japan had removed itself of the feud over the Taiwan issue. However, Taiwan had become neither “Chinese" nor “Taiwanese” Taiwan. Instead, the US concealed its control of Taiwan under the rags and tatters of Chinese nationalism.
Recognizing the importance of SFPT as regards Post-WWII Taiwan helps understanding why:
- the US never recognized the soverignty of Taiwan to the Chinese the US had put in charge on Japanese Taiwan;
- UN Resolution 2758 does not impinge on the still undecided international status of Taiwan;
. the US and other allied powers only take note (tongue in cheek) of the claim common to the Chinese on both banks of the Strait of Formosa, that Formosa belongs to China;
- the Taiwan Relation Act alludes to “the people ON Taiwan” rather than “the people OF Taiwan”.
Unfortunately, the Chinese version of the 45-year-old Taiwan Relations Act (TRA) betrays both the intent and letter of that U.S. law. In the Chinese version provided on the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) website, the "people ON Taiwan” (在台人民) in the English version becomes "the people OF Taiwan”(either “台灣人民" or “台灣的人民" as well as “台灣之人民”) in the Chinese version.
For the last 45 years, this intentional, malign translation error:
- misled Lee Teng-hui, Chen Shui-bian, Tsai Ing-wen and other local political leaders of the Democratic Progressive Party into upholding the illegal alien regime.
- contributed to enable the Chinese KMT and its alien regime to grow deeper, stronger roots like an invasive species on non-Chinese Taiwan.
- contributed to box Taiwan into the history of a Chinese civil war that is not Taiwan’s fight;
- contributed to Beijing arguing even today its own claimed right to invade Taiwan on the basis of a protracted Chinese civil war in which the offspring of Japanese Taiwan’s Komins becomes the foe while leaving the Chinese KMT to enjoy the laurels of Chinese fifth column on Taiwan.
- contributed to convince the silent majority that holding back its natural and understandable desire to rid Taiwan of any reference to the occupying Chinese regime made sense when it did not from the stand point of the 85 % majority of the Taiwanese population, the always meek offspring of the Japanese Komins ( (皇民).
- misled the local people, causing them to unthinkingly accept the judicial insults suffered by President Chen Shui-bian, Secretary-General of the Taiwan Civil Government Lin Chi-sheng (林志昇), and his spouse Lin Zi-an (林梓安).
- contributed to the current lie misidentifying Chinese Americans as “Taiwanese Americans”.
The US pulled an “Ukraine” on Taiwan long before it could even dream of Victoria Nuland’s “Ukraine”.For this betrayal of the intent of Congress and letter of the Taiwan Relations Act, the US State Department should be held in contempt of Congress.

United Nations Resolution 2758 resolved, politically, legally and procedurally, the issue of the representation of the whole of China, including Taiwan, in the UN and international institutions. It completely blocked any attempt by anyone or any country to create 'two Chinas' or 'one China, one Taiwan'.” Taiwan will be doomed by this resolution!
