Garmin Inreach Mini Two Way GPS Messaging

- The best Mobile service in Australia is Telstra but even that does not work most places out in the bush. For peace of mind having a Two Way GPS messaging system is a must. The Garmin Inreach Mini is small and for a few beers each month covers the monthly fee. #shorts
I have the older delorme version. I never go remote without it. Its two-way communication capability when out of cell coverage is an awesome feature. So is the SOS feature. But people need to be aware that in deep gullies and heavily wooded areas, like we have in the Blue Mountains, it may not always get a satellite fix. That’s why I also carry a PLB. A PLB has a x10 more powerful transmitter, but is obviously only a one-way device.
What is PLB?

I’m in Canberra and can’t get Telstra service in new suburbs :/ might need a Garmin to let the misso know we need milk.
ha ha, we got Starlink for the bush here, Telstra is slow but works with a mobile booster.
Disclaimer: ppl won’t get your message unless the recipient has the messenger app
Wow good to know!
@@casy6203 Nope, they get a URL link to click on that takes them to a normal web site page where then can see where you are. There they will find also a top right little form window where they can type in and reply to your message.
Disclaimer: you are incorrect
You are incorrect, the message sent has also a Browser URL link that when opened has a window for the user to send message back. They don't need some message app.
Not true…
Channel you need to remove the comment, it’s dangerous and inaccurate.
A url is sent…no app for the recipient needed.
I have two of them the mini and 66i. These are live savers
Correct, used mine all over Australia now and while out on the water. The 66i looks good too with larger screen.
Hey mate how much is Garmin’s subscription cost in AUD?
$25 AU per month and $55 per year.
Does it work with Samsung android phone?
Can it work as a gps tracker with live location update? If so, how long is the battery gonna last?
Yes it can, not sure how long battery lasts on full time. Charges with USB so easy on the bike to recharge.
Do you need to pay for service
Yes
Yes but you can suspend it vs a contract.
Basically it’s monthly. Activate it. Than suspend it it will work until the end of that month cycle. Than few months down the road. Activate it again an suspend it an use it for that month. Or however needed
@@AquaTech225 is there a cancel/resume fee?
@HaloDude557 I don't think there is a fee to suspend/resume the service but there is a yearly subscription fee that you need to purchase just to be able to activate service, and then there's a monthly fee if you want to use it one month at a time.
I want to talk with someone in north America who may use this with and without their phone.
Mine never makes the confirmation sound when something sensor is received. I have never figured it out.
Not in the settings somewhere?
Has somebody experiences with uesed devices and
How do you receive messages back?
They appear on the device or you can have it Bluetoothed to your smartphone.
Can you make calls on this?
No
I have an I phone 14 does the same and more 🤣💀
Your Iphone14 is just a glorified brick if you don't have a wifi or cellular signal. This is what this device is for
Not without reception it doesn't 😂
Your iphone doesn´t have satellital connection
