Thanks for the video. Would love a video on time in the backcountry without smartphones. Using paper maps plus the InReach and just bring a dumbphone for calls when you get signal.
I'm old school up here in Alaska...been using the original DeLorme InReach Explorer with the 3 preset messages. Once nice thing is long battery life...after 2 weeks of use my InReach Explorer still has battery life of over 80%. I use a smart phone and GaiGPS for waypoints, navigation, etc. but use the InReach Explorer for sending text messages independent of a smartphone.
This video was a big help! I’m an Adventure Motorcyclist, I’ve ridden from Tuktoyaktuk/Prudhoe Bay on the Arctic Ocean to Ushuaia Argentina using a Spot locator. I just got an Inreach mini 2 that I’m warming up to. One question is how do I mark home or base camp? Do I just mark it as a waypoint?
My interface looks different on my inreach mini? I like yours better.
can you type out a message from the unit itself (not preset msg)??
The Garmin InReach Mini 2 is really quite phenomenal for such a lightweight and compact device with a good battery life.
The investment in purchasing and subscription is relatively inexpensive in relation to what it offers.
I prefer to have my phone switched off whilst out and this looks to be very usable without pairing it up.
Doesn't the Inreach require a subscription?
Yes for me it is $12 a month which is worth it as I carry a InReach Explorer every day up here in Alaska.
@@RetrieverTrainingAlone Alaska yes! Lower 48....not so much.
It's sad how terrible the phone app is, and how Garmin won't support their customers' problems. Make their money off people's safety, but don't give a damn when it craps out
First thing is to show people where buttons are and which ones are being pressed, no idea from the video.
There's only up, down, ok, and back... You never played video games did you 😂
