The '78 Ranger Lariat would be a show stopper, for sure!
The 1978 Ford is the most sought after and the others are nothing short of beauty.
83 LONG BED!!!!
Would love to see this get done,I had an 86 that looked almost identical to this one here. Always dreamed of turning it into something beautiful.
I’m going to go with the Long bed. They’re all cool trucks, but nobody ever shows the Long beds any love.
Agree
‘78 F100 no doubt, one of the nicest looking trucks ever made. The ‘84 step side is a real close second though. 💯🔥
I agree both are great but I would go with the step side
💯% 78 FORD RANGER LARIAT FOR SURE !!!!!!!
Ranger with a coyote power plant 😎👍
78 ford ranger lariat would be the next perfect build for gas monkey 🙉 garage 🤠🤠
1978 is my choice.
Love that body style. 4X4 conversion would be fun.
78 is the only way to go. Love to see a 10 speed with a coyote engine in it.
I think the Ford long bed would really be a sweet build
My vote is for the Stepside. Please don’t make it sit low. Make it off-road ready with good ground clearance.
That's what I was thinking a nice lift big tires
No
Candy apple red! With a roll rack
Make it kinda like the Baja trucks of that era or kind of similar to the truck that John baker drove on Chips.
You my friend, know what you are talking about
Do the 1978 with a coyote twin turbos and 10 speed, Welds fats and skinnies. Rack and pinion and 4 link.
Build that 78 F150!! I love it. Keep the trim it is beautiful!!
The long bed is the one to do, it is a completely blank canvas to work with, the other two have too much style as is. I will look forward to seeing either of them being done by the Gas Monkey team. Take care and God bless
the '83 longbed... I am a Bullnose guy and, (oddly enough), love long beds. My 1985 F-150 Lariat/Ranger looks very similar... blue with silver two tone, a little less Petina.
83 longbed! Exterior loved up with @poppyspatina 4” lift, 35” interco cobalts with 18x12s (happy medium tire to rim ratio), interior left alone or factory black conversion, powertrain 6.7 cummins with g56 trans
Go for the long bed 83! There’s so much potential in that truck.. others are great to but that’s one that’s not done up right very often
At first i was thinking Stepside all the way. But the more i see the 78, i have to vote for it. But the 84 ia a close second
The 78 F-100, original patina, slammed on the ground, wood bed and some horsepower.
turn the 83 longbed into a 6 wheel drive. With electric motors and petrol engine (hybrid), an old truck with new technology. greetings from the Netherlands .
The 84 long is the one to seal the patina on. Do it like you did the Hodge-podge Dodge
It would be nice to see the 83 longbed. On about an 8 inch lift long travel pre runner style. With the wide fenders and flared bed sides.
83’ stepside! Convert it to a 4x4! No question that would be the ultimate build!
1983 Ford longbed slam with a diesel engine with a nice paint job and custom interior would be awesome
The 78 ranger for sure! Do it Richard! And patina for sure too! You’re an amazing artist when it comes to show vehicles?👍👌
78 F100 is the one to build. Lower it down, add cool rims and tires, disk brakes all around, and a new motor. A classic Gas Monkey build!!! Keep up the awesome builds!!!
The 83 ..The long bed would be nice and different from your normal builds
78' lariot lime green would be epic!
The ‘78 definitely i like the idea of the patina, low to the ground with a new chassis and a Godzilla swap would be awesome
Definitely the 78 F100, if it was mine keep the patina as you said. I would go with a Godzilla engine, yellow and black interior. Update to a modern gauge set. Not sure about chassis but it would depend on Street/Strip or Cruiser.
Longbed, totally stock, full repaint in original blue, keep original interior
Ranger as is with a coyote and interior shake up
Stepside, in the air, desert storm style, hellephant power
💯 1984 Stepside
I have to say my favorite by far , by faaaar is the 78 F100, however you’re more likely to see them on the road. I’m going against my own grain and suggesting the long bed because of the rarity of seeing a long bed done. I’d really like to see what can be done with one. Either way, hell yeah!
Oh man the 78 is the one you need to do for sure!!
Definitely the long bed!👌👌👌
83 long bed would be cool you could make it a fast sleeper build
The 84 Stepside gone 4x4 with power and some custom camping gear in the bed like only GMG can do. Contact me for more ideas. Like a custom GMG tent camper frame with batwing awnings and a propane kitchen that slides out from under tent space in the bed. The stepsides incorporated into the way to get in the topper tent! GMG gone Camping!
The 1983 Longbed just because it’s the only longbed and it’d be interesting to see what y’all can do with a long bed truck and make it badass
The 84 stepside is something I'd like to own myself so am voting for that as a resto mod and the motor work you mentioned.
83 longbed with a blueprint block would be ace
The 1978 is my first choice but all of them would be worth it to me!
Enjoy your video clips and work you and your crew do. Awesome. Look after your health so plebs like me can enjoy watching your clips as long as possible. Cheers to you and your crew from down under in NZ.
1978 Ranger Lariat for sure would make the best build.
Lariat is my choice
'78 Ranger Lariat would be my choice since my first vehicle was a '78 Chevy Big10. Close enough for me.
Everyone expects the 78, which is the nicest body style. But my vote is the 83. It's just different and I know you guys will do an amazing job.
My dream list:
1) 1978: i would make it a 4x4 off road complete conversion keeping the exterior patina with mud tyres and small wheels (15" or 16")
2) 1984: i would slam it and keep it rwd
3) 1983: i would trasform it as a work utility truck
78’ and definitely keep the patina. Stick a Godzilla in it👍
Well I think the best one would be the 78 as a patina build, the step side would be sweet as a pre runner and the long bed would look great on some 44 super swampers with a blown 460.
78 for sure . New coyote Whipple combo . 78 SVT lightning spin would be cool . Everybody does the C10 .
I think the 78, slammed on big rims, a coyote motor, painted in a deep black cherry with a black with red piping interior.
'78 F-100 converted to 4WD, but by God keep that lovely patina. That's as far as I've gotten, lol.
I vote 83 longbed. Make it a beastly sucker.
Lower the 78 hands down i love it, go with a highend lowering kit. Dont do air do static, 19s up front 20s in the rear. Build a 351w with a tremec 6spd trans and borlas.
1983 Longbed would be different. A 4 x 4 in blue would look so good. Gets my vote 😎👍🐒
Do the Longbed , it's got room to mount a strong box in the bed & still carry a load.
Happy New Year Gas Monkey crew team , may the Gods smile upon you in 2024.
GYSOT
83 Long box: Voodoo 5.2, lifted 4x4, bucket seats with an auto, rollbar in the bed chrome, big custom bumper and grille guard, 44" super swamper Boggers with 15" Slotted Mag wheels, a dual tube rear bumper, and of course KC daylighters on top of the rollbar 5 of them..
In my opinion that would be a BAMF..
The Long bed will look cool bagged, slammed, and dark blue with black,
- the ranger a Showtruck like SEMA in gold and green
And the stepside will look awesome in 2 ways, dragster or Overland
Two straight sixes side-by-side supercharged would be interesting. Go for Richard.
'78 Ranger + Prestige 427 with Nitrous and some good seat belts haha
1983 longbed, they are all great trucks, those 300 straight sixes are great engines also! I like the videos but don’t comment often!
I would slam down the two short trucks and lift up for offroad the longbed one
Thats a GREAT point... those 300 six cylinders were bomb proof...!!
Its square shape would be great for a good paint job like the Texas Skidmark
1978 F100...Get a 400M block, modify it to bolt on a set of Cleveland heads, 4-speed top loader trans, and a Curry Enterprise Ford 9" in the rear.
'83 Bullnose longbed. Keep that legendary Ford 300-6 in there just spice it up.
The '83 STEP SIDE!
84 step side with a medium lift 4x4. Roll bar in the bed with tire mount. And of course a huge motor.
78 Ford, Coyote swap, lowered, blood red with a hint of pearl very light dark red flake, put some 20s on it, wood in the bed with a dark red stain, put some twin dual mufflers out the rear end, put a good sound system in it there you go.
My Vote is The 1983 Ford LONGBED painted flat black with fake chrome trimming on the side of the bed of the pickup truck and on the tailgate a dark forest green Ford logo painted on the tailgate
The longbed Ford would make an awesome drag truck. The long chassis would handle good on the drag strip.
If you must build a Boat Anchor my Vote would be the 78
The 84 step-side converted to 4x4 is different, so that's my first pick, then I have to go with the 78 Ranger Lariat. You just can't go wrong when it comes to a sweet 78 Ranger.
My brother had a 1983 ford fire fox red metallic. We would swap motors back and forth to his Mustang then I lost him. He been gone for 25 years now miss him
Love watching you build these, the step side to a 4x4 coyote motor. But please paint her with a gorgeous color or maybe a two tone.
My vote is for the '78 Ranger Lariat. This is a cool idea, allowing UA-cam build a truck!
Very cool !
Build the 84 step side, stroker motor, tub the rear a bit but set it up to handle the road not just in a straight line. Drop low. Paint must be bright enough to keep the lines of that bed but dark enough to look cool.
My vote is for the longbed.....would be good to see something different from the usual short bed stuff!!
83 6cyl longbed for me but keep it a 6. Give the 6 a full up grade. A hot 6 with tuned exhaust sounds amazing, better than a V8 in my opinion. Rather than lowered, go the other way, raise it up with 4wd. Make it a practical off roader. You'll have a lotta fun driving it and raised up with that beasty 6, she'll be a real head turner I reckon. Anyway, loving your show from New Zealand. Wishing you a fantabulous 2024. Big Kahuna signing out 😂
My vote is for the '83 long bed. My dad gave me his 83 reg cab long bed for my 16th and I had alot of plans to build the truck but sadly my uncle wrecked it while I had it parked for the winter. I say 302 punched to 347 stroker, bagged on 20" Detroit steel wheels
As for the 1983 Ford LONGBED in the bed of a truck stained the slats of wood a nice medium stain to help break up some of that contrast black
For me the 78 is the one to build! Go Ken Block on it! Low four-wheel crazy! And leave the patina! You guys haven't built one of these yet ! It doesn't have to be the NASCAR but it can still be a fun build!
First of all Congratulations on the Texas Skidmark, that truck has literally changed your life and your business this is what your gona be doing from now on .As for the next build easy the 83 longbed do exactly what you did with Skidmark but a different colour but looks even better .This truck has got a nice side its strait and flat no bumps or big gaps like the other two ,this one is defo the best looking one
My pick is the long bed. Big motor tastefully lowered not slammed big tires nice paint job to highlight the length. Dechrome smooth the body lines. That’s my two cents I think it would be a cool looking truck because you don’t see a lot of long beds
84 step side - UNIQUE
THERES A BUNCH OF FLEET SIDES AND LATE 70s
I would do the long bed, but with a full Raptor R drivetrain and suspension. Make it the Raptor R of the 80s.
The 1978 is one of my favorite trucks. Good one to build.
Man I would love to see that 84 nicely lifted and then with some beautiful power and 4×4
Long beds do the best burnouts, but definitely the 78. Keep the patina and put a new Godzilla in it.
78 F100 Ranger, cool truck and would be a good build.
awedens choice 🤔🤔🥰🥰
1978 ford is the one the 1983 ford is second choice thanks for a great episode again 🥰🥰
The 78 Ranger gets my vote, Happy New year from the land down under.
Awesome stuff...
Awesome! Long bed, something different, slammed with chassis,
handle on rails and of course 700+ horsepower supercharged.
I hope you and your dear families have a wonderful new year!
It would be something different but would be a tough resale because it's going to take a certain type of buyer. The 78 you could almost do anything to and have buyers coming from every corner on the globe.
@thomas9079 Agreed! I mentioned something similar in the vote/comment I just left.
A vote for the 83 long bed. A cool street rod.
I am leaning towards the 1978 F100 Ranger Lariat I guess either one, your guys will make an amazing make over on anyone of them, can't wait for the end product, already excited, cheers Rick and boys.
The 1978 Ford Lariat is the one to rebuild without the petina. Definitely do a full on rebuild with the biggest fuel efficient crate engine available. 70% electric and 30 % Gasoline powered. it Can be Done, Just gotta find a way to do it....
1983 long bed. Bare metal clear coat
You know this is the one you want to modify the others are too easy and are best left alone as is
1984 step side …this the 1
Any would be awesome, I would have to pick the 78. Can’t wait to watch.
78 ranger bagged 22/9 24x12 10 inch lip billet wheels bright red exterior and red interior loud sound system and wood bed floor and keep all the chrome and original trim 5.0 coyote 10 speed supercharged 😮💨🔥💯
The 84 Stepside needs to go upwards. You can call it the 84 Upside
For me I'd love to see you do the Ranger Lariat, I've never even heard of them before, where I'm sure most have seen builds similar to the other 2 done before plenty of times on TV or UA-cam over the years. Would rather see something, what I expect will be a first for many other viewers too, I haven't seen done before.
I promise you the long bed is the least built of all them.
1984 Step side shift on fly 4X4 truck with wooden bed. Four on the floor hurst shifter. Big tires, diamond tuck and roll black leather black interior. Big chrome diamond tread bumpers. winch on the bumper. Candy apple red exterior paint with gold flakes. Sun roof on the cab roof. Chrome side mirrors and chrome trim on the exterior. This truck should a classic look.
Do all 3! One monster truck, one slammed, and one sleeper.
