It's no longer "just a theory" when most of the theories have been confirmed! :) Check out the Robot Master Field Guide book and/or the Mega Man Official Complete Works art book! While the original Robot Masters made by Dr. Light didn't technically "become" new Robot Masters themselves (meaning Wily didn't rebuild the same robots with new identities), he did build new Robot Masters based on the designs and specifications of older ones! And the older ones still exist in later games like Power Fighters, Power Battle, Battle & Chase, and the non-Playstation version of Mega Man 8. Metal Man was indeed based on Cut Man, and Quick Man was indeed based on Elec Man's design (though the Quick Boomerang does bear some slight resemblance to Cut Man's Rolling Cutter). Air Man was indeed a new type of Robot Master. Additionally, I suppose it could be said that both Guts Man and Wood Man are kind of... "earthy" in their own ways. Cool video!
Huh... that's a thing? Ah, no worries. However, my comment above was from about a year ago. I figured other people would have commented and therefore moved my comment on down the list by now. If it's not "most recent" or "most likes", how does one get a "top comment" anyway?
I'd say most of the robot masters in Megaman 2 are pretty iconic, especially since Crashman's theme is the most different from the other stage themes in Megaman 2 :p

Well... here's the thing. When MM1 was being developed, it was always supposed to have eight Masters. However, they did not make the cut. It has been theorized that Time Man was one of these, but CONFIRMED that Glue Man was the other. So where is this Glue Man? Turns out that people had been making fan concepts of HIM in particular for so long, that they felt it would be disrespectful to fans to simply naysay them all, hence why Oil Man was the other added boss in the remake. What all that means is that Time Man was a concept that could've been pulled from, but Oil Man was NOT. As for Air Man... I think he was the winner of a design contest? That explains why he isn't specifically linked to a MM1 Master, as those fans wouldn't have been thinking along this "upgrade" line.
Something I would like to mention in the spin-off series megaman battle network, heatman.exe was explicitly stated to be an upgraded version of fireman.exe. I know that the battle network universe is in a parallel universe but it was set on a timeline where Dr.light decided to do work on computer technology rather than robotics
Meme Phox I have never known a single person who visited Fire Man's stage first. I can't think of a single advantage to doing that, since Bomb Man (weak to fire) is substantially simpler in both his stage and his battle.
+AC Whipp I wanted to look at the theory as it was before Powered up was released. That meant they had the 6 to work with when coming up with the 8 for the 2nd game back in the day. Meaning they worked Oil Man and Time Man into the series much later.
You do realize that the Japanese version of the game has no seetings of Difficulty. It's just one setting which is the equivalent of America's Difficult Mode. So in reality, Difficult Mode is actually Normal Mode, and Normal Mode is actually Easy Mode. Metal Man takes 2 hits from his own weapon. Not 1. 2. Also, you do realize that Crash Man is actually dumber than you think right? He will only attack when you shoot. He'll always jump when you shoot. Jump in the air, shoot while in the air. Crash Man is more than likely to jump into your shot. Also, he can actually be locked into a very easy, albeit drawn out pattern as shown here. Honestly, he's even easier than Flash Man to me. ua-cam.com/video/4-47iBh76BQ/v-deo.html
+Curiosity Man Interesting. I did know about the difficulty difference between the Japanese and American versions. Though I didn't know crash man was so easy to fight. I personally still think Flash man is easiest though.
Not completely true. Leave him alone for long enough, and Crash Man WILL attack of his own volition. It's just that neither newbies nor pros are going to do so most of the time.
Actually the upgraded versions have been confirmed in the comics but only of Timeman=Flashman, Electman=Quickman, Bombman/Gutsman=Crashman. I otherwise agree with your theories. I also feel like Airman was based off of Oilman because of oil based energy is being replaced by air power and other alternatives. I believe Capcom created Timeman and Oilman in this in mind.
I think Flash Man May be based off Bond Man. Bond Man in MM1 was supposed to be the one with the enemy freezing power instead of Ice Man, and it would make much more sense than it to be Ice Man.
Wily does just tend to rip-off Gutsman's design for a good number of his robots. Gutsdozer included. Additionally (unless Its since been retconned) he is 100% the one from MM7 since you literally see Wily steal him in the museum stage.
I don't think Ice Man is related to Flash Man in any way... Except well for the ice physics. Though I think Time Man was some kind of prtototype to Flash Man, who was built to freeze time instead of slowing it...

Time man was Dr. Light's version of Flash man, a prototype. Dr. Light could only create a bot that *slowed down time* than actually stopping it. Wily created Flash man and from his genius made Flash man a *time stopper* which he considered him to be one of his 'master pieces'. While yeah, Time man came after Flash man, Wily also had superior design to Light's and it's canon that Flash man > Time man.

I have found a flaw in this theory, if you bring the 1995 megaman cartoon into the picture. For example, both Quick man and Elec man appear in the cartoon. If Wiley used parts from Elec man, then we would have no quick man. Also Elec man is my favourite robo master from 1.
cutman-metalman, obvious choice is obvious, oilman-bubbleman, both have a liquid theme to them, fireman-heatman guess why, gutsman-woodman both are really strong and have strong but situational weapons, bombman-crashman bombs iceman-airman they just seem similar, timeman-flashman do i need to explain, quickman-elecman
Oilman would naturally have expansion if flashman is actually related to time man, but wily realized he had stolen a stupid robot, so he invented airman instead.

The Cutman=Metalman,Elecman=Quickman, and Fireman=Heatman theories true because if you read the mega man and bass bios for Metalman,Quickman, and Heatman the bio says that Cutman=Metalman,Elecman=Quickman, and Fireman=Heatman basically
ehhhhhhhh i mean, considering that the robot masters in Mega Man 1 were the first robot masters ever made, and Dr Wily worked on the first ones, it would definitely make sense for them to share some design choices. also, quick man is way more like an advanced cutman than advanced elecman.
answering the question as asked in the title, none. it would be more accurate to ask which mm1 robot masters served as inspiration for the mm2 robot masters, since light made the first 6 and they were designed for industrial purposes. where the next 8 were made by wily and designed for combat.
Wily himself said that he made the MM2 Robot Masters as "better, deadly, and more effective" versions of Dr. Light's first numbers.

I have found a flaw in this theory, if you bring the 1995 megaman cartoon into the picture. For example, both Quick man and Elec man appear in the cartoon. If Wiley used parts from Elec man, then we would have no quick man. Also Elec man is my favourite robo master from 1.
I don't believe it counts as canon.
I thought that the cartoon took place after megaman 6
The legend of Smeef
It is noncanon
cutman-metalman, obvious choice is obvious, oilman-bubbleman, both have a liquid theme to them, fireman-heatman guess why, gutsman-woodman both are really strong and have strong but situational weapons, bombman-crashman bombs iceman-airman they just seem similar, timeman-flashman do i need to explain, quickman-elecman
I once heard the metal man was built using the cutman blueprints but modified for combat opposed to deforestation
Oilman would naturally have expansion if flashman is actually related to time man, but wily realized he had stolen a stupid robot, so he invented airman instead.
2:55 doesn't it take 2 hits on hard or the JPN version
air man is based of fire man
bookoopa64 How?
Tristen Thielman fire man blows fire
air man blows wind
the only difference is the temperature and control, but the use of the pressure is the same also look at theshape aside of the head
bookoopa64 To be fair, it kind of possible, but there is something I bared about that theory.
Wind, if you use a fan or blow, can actually power up fire, but I don't know.
where I can find these mega man comics?
5:38 what game is that from?
Warriorperson78 it’s I can’t defeat air man
It's possible that airman could also be an upgrade on elecman
Air = sky (aka where lightning comes from)
looking at all the megaman 2 boss thing isn't metalman also weak to the quick boomerang?
But wear did you get the heat man theme remix
All of the Music Remixes were Sega Genesis remixes found on UA-cam, Excluding Flashman who's Song file corrupted and I had to use another one i had, and the very end song. If you want the Heat man remix Go to this link:Mega Man 2 - Heat Man Stage (Sega Genesis Remix)
Quick Man is Mega Man's rival?
Quick Man man could be seen as Bass's prototype? Check out Ballade from Mega Man World 4. Not only does he look kinda similar to Quick Man, but ALSO has a wish to be the very strongest. 🤔🤔🤔
But hey that's just theory....
A GAME THEORY!!!!
"and remember it's just a theory A GAME THEORY" I'm sorry
answering the question as asked in the title, none. it would be more accurate to ask which mm1 robot masters served as inspiration for the mm2 robot masters, since light made the first 6 and they were designed for industrial purposes. where the next 8 were made by wily and designed for combat.
0:00 song?
I came here after seeing the thumbnail to remind that: "I'm Metal Man, the robot that Cut Man should've been!" ~ Metal Man
The difference between mm2 robot masters and mm1 robot masters?
Mm1: they so kung fu
Mm2: they're kinda....
*NICE >:] *
5:48 Airman Ga Taosenai
I think you should credit the remixes you use in your videos in the description.
I should, Shouldn't I? Whoops. I can't believe I forgot to do that. Thanks for the reminder I'll take care of that soon.
Not to mention Flash Man's stage has ice physics????????
Harold Slikk you just repeated what master of malor said
