- Calista Flockhart is best known for playing the title character in the hit legal drama-comedy Ally McBeal. Flockhart earned a Golden Globe award for the role, and it also made her a recognized tv star during the late '90s and early 2000s.
Flockhart then took her star power to the drama series "Brothers and Sisters." Unfortunately, even with all her small-screen success she never managed to transition it to the big screen.
Gradually, Flockhart started to disappear from the Hollywood spotlight. Was it her decision or is there a reason that Hollywood won’t cast Flockhart anymore? We've got the details.

As long as they don’t try to make it a cringy feminist show like the Charmed reboot. Ally McBeal wasn’t written as a feminist show. It wasn’t Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Veronica Mars, and it never pretended to be one like the original Charmed did. Ally was a lawyer looking to complete her dream life. Either keep it like that or refrain from ruining a classic.

Ally McBeal was an incredible series, ahead of it's time. It was the first time I'd seen an American series using plenty of sarcasm, irony and wit. Some of the relationship conversations between John and Ally were memorable for sure. It certainly helped me understand love and life a little better when I was younger.
The title makes it sound like no one will hire her. Seems like she’s chosen to not act and being married to Harrison Ford, I doubt she’s in need of a job.

Yes, that was misleading. She opts not to work in tv or films. Her choice. It seems she's picked on, no matter what she does.

I met her working as a PA on a small film called Jane Doe. I found her to be extremely sensitive and intelligent. She seems to have been pigeonholed by roles like Ally McBeal. I noticed she had a certain dark side with a lot of depth, and I remember hearing of people walking out on a play she did where she played a villain and the audience was angry to see Ally McBeal that way. She’s not Ally McBeal and audiences should be more open to seeing her playing different types of people.

I love this actress. She made me smile and cry so much in ally MC beal and brothers and sisters. Two great shows. I'd like to see her on screen so much. She's so talented.

No one could surpass David E. Kelley or Calista Flockhart as Ally McBeal. It still remains one of my favorite shows of all time which I watch in reruns many times. I think Calista is a wonderful actress and deserves time apart with her family. The media is hard on everyone, it is who they are. Papparazzi loves to destroy. They are hideous but her fans know this.
Imagine being able to just take three year vacations after every year of working part time.

These videos are odd as, for example, Calista Flockhart's most recent acting job only ended two years ago. Definitely not long enough ago to say "Hollywood won't." All these Why Hollywood Won't Cast "insert name" Anymore videos are in this same vein of problems. Another problem these videos have is that "insert name" a lot of times are working, just not in anything big movie/advertised/blockbuster worthy. Some actors today don't work often but live off the fame the press give them and it makes people not realize they aren't working. That seems another issue.

First time I ever seen her work was on an afternoon special. They used to do 30 min mini- movies about serious topics.
Her’s was on anorexia. It was shocking at the time because I was so young.
In the special, she wasn’t happy with her weight even though she was way too skinny. Her character would run all the time. She would eat with her family then go to her room, vomit in jars and hide them in her closet. She would empty them after awhile but her mom found her stash of jars one day and she was sent to the hospital for rehab.
That seems like Calista's real disease, Anorexia Nervosa or Bulimia.
amerocker if you’ve ever seen people who exercise ( especially run) and eat real heathy clean raw foods they look like they have anorexia but they are very healthy. They eat more than a lot of others that eat junk food. They all have great metabolisms.
I’m not sure she suffers from it; she might just be the above person who is healthy.
We’re so used to seeing overweight people, it’s strange to see someone that looks like her.

Alley mc beall was one of my favs, liked the music & dancing. It was a diff kind of show at first & towards the end of 2nd season, its like the writers gave up. Show was funny also. She was good in brothers & sisters. And she seems to have really good on screen chemistry with different guys/ men. She & Robert downey jr. Bon Jovi & she and Courtney thorn smith. There fights were funny.

I think Ally McBeal was the perfect "vehicle" for her quirky acting abilities. She never was able to match her success in that show, even though she was a part of several other series.

She and Harrison Ford are my favorite actors. I hate it when people talk about them because of their age difference. This is their business. They are a beautiful couple and I love them. I do not think people should bother them about this. In this country strange people discriminate others at work, on the street, at school, in parks, everywhere based on people's age differences. They do it even to our president which is very bad. That is not a sign of being a good American. It is nobody's business because age is only a number. What matters in a couple is what is inside someone's heart. So when it comes to couples who have an age difference people people should cherish them not criticize them.

Chemistry is too great to mess with. Very original material. I just discovered the show over a week ago and I just finished the first season. You’d never get the original characters back, they’re not all available and some humans don’t age well. Add the fact that it’s 2023 and political correctness would ruin most of the dialogue. I was aware of the show when it came out but I think it just wasn’t timed right for life at the time. The writer is probably not available either. Married to Michelle pfeiffer.
