@@sugs1191 I totally, totally, totally get what you're saying. When it was on the air I had absolutely no desire to watch it because of that very same reason. I'm 56, and back around 2010 I was looking for a good show to watch. I had just finished with Boston Legal which is one my top 3 favorite shows of all time. I've always loved most of David E Kelley's work. Picket Fences, The Practice, Boston Public, Chicago Hope, etc. So when I did a search of his name on Netflix, Ally McBeal popped up. At first I cringed. But for some reason I went ahead and started watching. I'm one who tries to give a series around five episodes before I pass judgement. I began to pick up on subtle nuances that are specific to David E Kelley's work. And by the time I got to episode four I was partially hooked. By the conclusion of season one I was totally hooked. I realized that the show was a kind of "light and silly" version of The Practice (which I love). It suddenly hit me that if The Practice and Ally McBeal hooked up and had a baby the child would be Boston Legal. That's the reason for the feminine vibe. Only David E Kelly could do something like that! I became even more in awe of his genius. I don't think I would've been able to appreciate the show when it was on the air. I wasn't in that frame of mind. By 2010, I was. Well, that's my "Doctorial Thesis" and I'm sticking to it. Hope it provides some insight.
@@BertandErnie976 I think they took it off since the comment, however I think it's still available through Amazon Prime. It just might not be free anymore.
There have been some good TV shows but NONE has ever topped thus crazy, wonderful show. You just never knew what was going to happen, and it was glorious !!
This was the BEST SHOW on TV!!! I Loved this show and when it went off the air I was really upset for a long time!! It's fun watching it again - The Chemistry between all the Actors was truly AMAZING!!! I Loved the show because it could make me Laugh Cry Sing and Dance all in one show!! Bring Ally McBeal back :) :) :)
2021 Ally McBeal was ahead of its time in so so many ways. I hope i can still find the full series to download somewhere cos this is worth being saved for future generations. In my mind the show carried on and somehow Ally and Larry were able to find each other in New York and reconcile cos Larry really was her guy.
Such a great show that was. This collage was wonderful, the scene when Nell hurls "Stephan" the frog splat against the door, and he slowly slides down with front legs up had me laughing so hard, I practically choked.... Loved the Barry White inspired dance of the trio. And Ally's humiliating ice cream and toppings fiesta on (trooper) Larry, while dressed in her Burberry coat was classic. Thanks for uploading this.
Had a chance during the Pandemic, and in quarantine,to watch the entire series again on my DVD Collection of Ally McBeal.Forgot how great a series it was, and what a terrific actress Calista Flockhart is.She was in every episode, though it took a mental and physical toll on her.I loved the writing, acting, lush sets.It had it all:comedy, drama, romance, even tragedy, and the great music, particularly the talent and voice of Vonda Shepard.Add to this the mini concerts you were entertained with the talents of guest stars Al Green,Barry White,Tina Turner,Sting,Barry Manilow,Elton John,Randy Newman, and Gloria Gaynor. We shall not see its like again.
The Aretha Franklin popping up around her apartment singing is one of the funniest moments from this series. When she starts chasing her down the street I lost it 😂
My favorite television show of all time, my lifetime...after all these years...I still think of Whipper..Billy..wattle...this was one helluva show..laughter and tears within the same 47 minutes..every week...
Where can I find the full episodes? I was still in the elementary and this was the highlight of my week. Got really upset whenever I miss an episode. LOL!!!
I'd forgotten how much I loved this quirky show! You never knew what was going to happen next. Nothing before or since has ever come close.
Such a great, quirky show. Dramedy is hard to pull off...but when it's done right, it's the best genre ever.
Yes.
One of the most innovative television shows ever!
Being Created by David E. Kelley. It can't help but be innovative.
True.

in this show you cry and laugh on the same episode ! so good show.
back when TV shows were TV shows, myself and my friend were hardcore metal heads and we still loved this show as teens, John Cage's smile therapy? ☠💀
