Still exploring your videos and love them. As a kid in the late 60's, explored that area extensively while living a couple years in Hanksville. In some ways it was more crowded then than it is now. Army had a big setup to tne east and would fire missles towards new mexico which was fun to watch, and there was still some mine activity winding down as well as a couple homestead/ranches in the swell. We once camped overnight in the lair, then hiked from where we were dropped off there at goblin Valley to Hanksville. Factory butte was our main point to navigate off of since we didn't nave GPS of course, or maps. Your videos bring back great memories.
My brother and I just finished a hike to Royal Arch in Boulder,CO. My first time ever doing a hike like that at 46yrs old...was amazing and felt so good afterwards!!! Thank you for all your videos and inspiration👍😁🏔

I was in that area, June of 2022. I loved Goblin Valley State Park, it was fun to just explore with really, nobody around, most stayed somewhat near the parking lot. I hiked up a slot canyon, I think it was Little Wild Horse but while in it, clouds formed overhead, some slight drizzle started and as you know, it's hard to tell what is going on around you when you are in a narrow canyon, I felt like I knew there were areas I could scramble up a cliff wall if water came down the canyon and I had no clue what was ahead of me so I headed back. Just as I get to the parking lot area, my phone started giving me warnings of flash floods in the area, telling everyone to stay off the roads. I left, but could see a thunderhead near the canyon. Not far from there are some really amazing pictographs in the area. I think this area would be great to take kids to camp and hike. Or, other adults for that matter.
👍Those rock formations were very beautiful. Looks somewhat like the rocks were placed one by one on top of each other by a giant hand. Too bad we missed seeing your descent into the goblins lair but glad you made it down safely. Beautiful campsite! Intrigued by the sand avalanches. Stay safe and happy adventuring 😊

We've camped near Moab but didn't make it to Canyon Lands thanks to breaking my ankle on the way down from Delicate Arch. The Goblin's lair and all those toadstool rock formations look amazing. What a wonderful world we do live in. Thanks again and stay safe out there.
Wow. Truly beautiful and unique landscapes and formations. I could wander around in those areas for days. It's like a painter's or sculptor's vision. I suppose it is and that artist is the planet Earth. I really relate to your appreciation of the the little things. We are so lucky to be able to see such things. Amazing that so many people never really see what is on display in nature. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

I know, it really sucks that the footage is gone. It's weird. I still have the file on the camera, and it's a big file (900 MB), but it just won't open or transfer or anything. I was blown away by the scale of the boulders when you were climbing out of Goblin's Lair. Your first shot of just the boulders without you in the picture, I thought it looked like an easy climb out; but then you showed yourself climbing out next to them and they were enormous! Great video.
At 15:15, walking past one of the big rock formations you reached up to touch it. I always do that, it's kind of weird. Like introducing myself, getting to know it. It made me smile to see you touch it, not just for support in climbing.
I always like feeling the rock too. It's experiencing a place with another sense. Just like how I look at a place and listen to its sounds, I like to touch it. Maybe some day I'll move on up to tasting... lol. Thanks Melissa!

Your large sand dune immediately brought to mind the siege ramps found abutting a few ancient Middle Eastern high ground cities.

SUV RVing I have a feeling you will be fully focused on that next rappel footage. I can hardly wait. :). As for the siege ramps, it's not only the idea of their form and function but of what it took to put them there! We think of those times as being a handful here and few there. The image of an invading hoard in those vast spaces is chilling. Not for nothing were there cliff dwellers who did what it took to live in seemingly impossible places. I can't really grasp what it was like to be in an area subject to Invaders such as I've only read about. To think, for instance, that your location assures you're unreachable by the armies of Alexander the Great, only to hear he is doing the impossible and crossing mountain ranges headed your way. Did you know that in one case a people group survived annihilation only because they sent a delegation who were able to show the conquering leader, in their ancient literature, his own name and the hundreds of years old prophecy that he would conquer them?

It's funny you say that. Do you remember the movie Galaxy Quest? At one point in the movie, they're on another planet and a rock monster attacks them. That was filmed in Goblin Valley.

I can be wandering in four corner states months by months from one spot to next just randomly roaming by the google GPS. If I happen to find Creek or river or spring to camp I can stay there up to a month (oops that's illegal to camp over 14 days). Rodents kind of bothering me, they always can find don't know where cracks or tiny holes to sneak in to my trailer and Jeep in midnight, even settle down. I always think of someone saying people contract deadly virus through rodents' drops!! I will try some solar yard lights see if can drive them away next times. One more things I worry, after months in wilderness my facial skins crack and wrinkle terribly. Sun lotion and moistures help little. I still try to figure out how to keep skin healthy boondocking for a long period of time.
Yeah, I'd move every week or two just to make sure the rodents don't get too cozy. But it sounds like you've got everything figured out otherwise! Nice job! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Amazing! I loved the rock formations. At the beginning of the video, they looked to me like giant mushrooms...LOL I do have a question. A lot of the formations seem to have a larger rock on top. Are they in danger of toppling over? This was a great video, so interesting!
I have no huge love for rappelling as its own pursuit, but I do it when it's part of another adventure I'm interested in. I don't live in my car. I live in a house and go on trips from there.
Some names like that are quite fanciful and often silly, but that really does look almost animate. Too bad about your footage, but oh well. We get what you pay for, I guess. Haha. What a cool campsite. I love the "layer cake" formations with all the colors.
Have you seen pinnacles in SE California, some similarity. Star Wars was filmed there, can have people there on weekends. Love your sites and explanations.
My favorite part was when you wear pulling the rope up and the rope fell and you said oooh. I was thinking you needed to pull yourself up with that rope and you just screwed yourself, you came walking back to the camera like o my god I’m stuck. But you said mission accomplished and eventually pointed to the exit. For one second I was like holy crap what is he going to do now
Oh man, that would have been horrible. But yeah, just an easy scramble gets you back out to the trail. I'll go back at some point and get the footage of that rappel again... Thanks for watching!
I've had good experiences in some state parks, but I think most in the West are overpriced and over-managed. Federal lands, in my experience, are much more lax. There's a state park near me called Antelope Island State Park. You're not allowed to leave any trails at all anywhere on the island. You're not allowed to camp outside of the couple of designated campgrounds. You need a permit to climb some of the mountains there. You're allowed to launch a kayak only from the marina area and not anywhere else on the island. You're not allowed to be on the trails after dark. Just lots of rules. And then there's the matter of aesthetics. You can take just about any state park in the western US and find a similar area on federal land that is equally or more beautiful, far less crowded, much less regulated, and free to access.
Oh, I meat to ask you... I have a 21' camper, Titan V8 4x4 truck. Would it be an issue to drive to the camping area? I have better clearance than your vehicle I'm sure. :) Thanks again.
You'll be able to get there, but I don't know if you'd be able to turn around to get back out. The turning radius around that little rock formation might be tight for something that long.

always, always, always, check the achor rope. reason being is because some asshole could have come by and cut a slit through it. why.....because he was an asshole. Being paranoind has kept me alive this long. Don't ever trust anybody else's equipment or setup. Always inspect it. Afteralll...it's only your life that matters. Great Video.
I don't see snakes too often in places like this. Usually in places with more vegetation. I've seen three snakes (and two rattlesnakes) in the past month here in northern Utah.

The Aliens were not well liked by God there and still today you see hale from him still against their sins and their civilization in the Utah desert. Their statues turned to oblivion as they have left our world to plunder another, no doubt. All those buttes you see in the distance were once giant ancient trees cut down and sent out to their original planet as the slaves rebelled and were smitten of their never ending party.

Rodents kind of bothering me, they always can find don't know where cracks or tiny holes to sneak in to my trailer and Jeep in midnight, even settle down. I always think of someone saying people contract deadly virus through rodents' drops!! I will try some solar yard lights see if can drive them away next times. One more things I worry, after months in wilderness my facial skins crack and wrinkle terribly. Sun lotion and moistures help little. I still try to figure out how to keep skin healthy boondocking for a long period of time.
Yeah, I'd move every week or two just to make sure the rodents don't get too cozy. But it sounds like you've got everything figured out otherwise! Nice job! Thanks for watching and commenting.

Amazing! I loved the rock formations. At the beginning of the video, they looked to me like giant mushrooms...LOL I do have a question. A lot of the formations seem to have a larger rock on top. Are they in danger of toppling over? This was a great video, so interesting!
Eventually (on a geological time scale) they will collapse or fall over, but I don't think most of them will fall down anytime soon. Thanks Carol!

I have no huge love for rappelling as its own pursuit, but I do it when it's part of another adventure I'm interested in. I don't live in my car. I live in a house and go on trips from there.

Some names like that are quite fanciful and often silly, but that really does look almost animate. Too bad about your footage, but oh well. We get what you pay for, I guess. Haha. What a cool campsite. I love the "layer cake" formations with all the colors.

My favorite part was when you wear pulling the rope up and the rope fell and you said oooh.
I was thinking you needed to pull yourself up with that rope and you just screwed yourself, you came walking back to the camera like o my god I’m stuck. But you said mission accomplished and eventually pointed to the exit.
For one second I was like holy crap what is he going to do now

When you say your state park experiences have been inferior, could you be more specific? I have had some amazing experiences in state parks.
I've had good experiences in some state parks, but I think most in the West are overpriced and over-managed. Federal lands, in my experience, are much more lax. There's a state park near me called Antelope Island State Park. You're not allowed to leave any trails at all anywhere on the island. You're not allowed to camp outside of the couple of designated campgrounds. You need a permit to climb some of the mountains there. You're allowed to launch a kayak only from the marina area and not anywhere else on the island. You're not allowed to be on the trails after dark. Just lots of rules. And then there's the matter of aesthetics. You can take just about any state park in the western US and find a similar area on federal land that is equally or more beautiful, far less crowded, much less regulated, and free to access.

You'll be able to get there, but I don't know if you'd be able to turn around to get back out. The turning radius around that little rock formation might be tight for something that long.

always, always, always, check the achor rope. reason being is because some asshole could have come by and cut a slit through it. why.....because he was an asshole. Being paranoind has kept me alive this long. Don't ever trust anybody else's equipment or setup. Always inspect it. Afteralll...it's only your life that matters. Great Video.

I would be afraid of snakes
I don't see snakes too often in places like this. Usually in places with more vegetation. I've seen three snakes (and two rattlesnakes) in the past month here in northern Utah.
