Access Bank & Diamond Bank CEOs break down their planned merger

Earlier this week, Diamond bank announced that it selected Access bank as the preferred bidder with respect to a potential merger of the two banks, a move they say will create Africa’s largest retail bank by customers. CNBC Africa’s Esther Awoniyi caught up with Uzoma Dozie, CEO of Diamond Bank and Herbert Wigwe, CEO of Access Bank to discuss their planned merger in detail.

I’m proud of where Herbert is taking Access Bank to. I could literally taste his confidence and he is beyond no doubt the most experienced CEO in corporate Nigeria in terms of Mergers & Acquisitions. With this I can say that there would be more acquisitions maybe not in Nigeria but in Africa. We need an African Bank to rival Barclays, ScotiaBank, CitiBank etc

His father put him there. He was not qualify for the job. He brought down diaman bank that lead to the merger.

Good combination...Dozie would have done well but he was given early rsponsibility. He needed to have learn enough before assuming the post of a CEO. Now there was an institution named diamond bank in nigeria

His father was the chairman of the bank. I know his parents ( mom & dad) and have been to the parent house on gerrard road, in ikoyi ,lagos.
