One of the most magical sounds in my life . Every time I hear it, it evokes those memories of being about 12 years old and having my mind completely blown in a yahoo chat that there were people from all over the country typing at the same time
I never experienced Windows 95 in its prime. I was born in 2001, and got my hands on a Windows XP laptop somewhere around 2004-2005 when my dad bought one for our family. I must have heard the XP startup sound like thousands of times! Yet, this startup jingle here hits like no other. It's almost like being dragged to a new, exciting adventure every time you start up your computer. Really, really beautiful. In fact, I just replaced both my laptop's and desktop's startup sound with this enhanced one just to get that little bit of excitement, haha!
Right? Startup sounds is not like they used to be. I love all the startup sounds actually, but Win2000 is my personal favorite. Ever heard the Win11 startup sound? It's super short and simple but oddly reminicent of the Win95 one.
Hey, fellow 2001 kid! I feel the same way. Windows XP is so nostalgic, but in a more dream like way. I was very young, so some of the memories are a bit more foggy. After that, windows 7 has a special place in my heart too. Its what I used the most during my teenage years, because my windows xp computers motherboard burnt to a crisp unfortunately and I had to get a new one. I also remember windows 98 fondly. I had a friend who kept 98 for a long, long time and I used it whenever I went over to his place. I wonder if that old piece of metal is still alive today haha. Despite the end of support for 10 getting nearer, I'm very reluctant to upgrade to 11. I hate the way it looks. This modern Macintosh wannabe look they're going for is ugly as hell to me. And since Microsoft has fallen into the bland, ugly and boring corporation minimalism, refuses to understand the power of nostalgia and keeps windows ui costumization as hostage, there's no way 12 will be any better.
There is no way you could acheive this with just noise, removal, and compression... Even if you clean it up really well, the original sound file is so compressed that some parts of the sound are too clipped to recover. You must have recreated some instrument patches to match to make up for lost frequencies.
You're right. There is no way. Others might have said that I only used equalizer, noise removal and compression, but I never said that. And I did recreate some instruments, but only the synth at the end. The other trick, like increasing the frequency range on the vibraphone for instance, is a trick I don't really care to share too much of right now. It's a lot of work, I can tell you that much.
@@grinjaturtle Fascinating stuff! I understand a magician never reveals his secrets aha. From what I can tell, you must have a really good ear to get whatever instrument patches your using to sound incredibly like the original. I’ve been listening to both and the timbre of each version matches incredibly well.
@@grinjaturtle I know what you did. You used Izotope RX's Ozone Imager Stereoizing tool that uses A.I. to turn mono into Stereo. Then added extra instruments to balance out the mix, and also used some denoise.
That brings back a lot of memories. I've been using Windows since version 3.1 in 1992. I really miss those days and the lightweight versions of Windows.
Windows 95 original: walking up the stairway to Heaven Windows 95 enhanced: God Himself picks you up and carries you to Heaven Edit: had to capitalize the H in “Himself”
That brings memories of the 90ies back everytime i hear it. Really good, optimistic times, i think you can notice it especially in music and even this little startup sound.
@@grinjaturtle Oh I think I’m actually going to do this. I have the “killed by” screen sound as the classic Skype call sound for no reason other than it’s random/funny, this would fit right in as the teleport sound lol.
I remember going early to school one day. I was in the classroom with my teacher as she was starting up the computers and then this heavenly melody played. I was amazed, I remember saying WOW. Then my teacher replied, sounds good doesn't it.
Sounds incredible enhanced, but for some reason I think I like it even better with the noise? It feels like I've entered a different world, feels somehow more natural. Like even if it's silent in your home, you can hear *something*, either faintly outside, or the weird background noise in your head. Gonna listen to this 20x more
I have actually done that myself. 😆 I started with a track, then just ended up making it a short jingle. Then later I made a track out of it anyways and put it out for sale on Audiojungle.
It's been so long but I think it's either 1995 or 1996 my wife and I bought our first computer from Circuit City or from the Good Guys or was it Comp USA? It's from one of those stores lol ,Windows 95 and 98 was my favorite for startup sound. Good times...

I can kind of agree with that. xD

Likewise. 👍🏾
As a person from the 90s, I agree.

I can't stop listening to the enhanced version. It's like going from a snippet of an unreleased song to the full version of the unreleased song.

They did some digging, found the original instrument noises and recreated it from the ground up with less compression.
And you’re complaining about it?
Thanks so much for this. I hope things like this never get deleted from the internet.

This is way far than a simple enhancing. This may be the original record from Brian Eno!
It isn't, but thanks for the compliment!

is this how it actually sounded when the computer would play it?
Nope, it played the original from the video. It had a low quality compared to today because it needed to be compressed for limited storage capacity.
@@PingerSurprise Makes sense. Did Eno re-export the file in high-quality for the public ever?
@@0hhtecMusicianTheNotecianHero Not to my knowledge. But it's nice to have nowadays the technology to restore/enhance old clips.

First we hear an electric piano, then a GRAND piano and finally… a synthesizer. What a beautiful combination.

wonderful start up sound. just wonderful. so many memories.

THIS. The Windows 95 startup sound is what makes me excited.

Thank you Brian Eno
Never imagine a startup sound can calm my soul
I think the extra noise from the original gives it more character, but that could just be me.
Wonderful!!! Please increase volume of synth sound in the end, though. It's a bit weak.
