They took a 3-year-old on an advanced hike, without consulting the father first, then LOST him??? I find it difficult to comprehend the idiocy that would be required to do such a thing.
Well it's pure inconsideration and irresponsibility because the group was probably just a bunch of young inexperienced idiotic people without their own kids
If you watch Missing 411 you'll see the father is broken to this day. Those people who Jaryd was with must have felt guilty. No use in blaming anyone in this situation. Just hope you never end up in their shoes.

My heart just breaks for these parents who will never know the fate of their children. Even if they find bones and shoes years later, to not know what happened to my baby would drive me crazy.
Exactly! My family thiought I was paranoid. Nope! I worked search and rescue. My kids weren't even allowed to stay with family members until they were older. I trusted No one except my husband. When we went camping my kids were always in sight.
To me as a parent, that would be the hardest part, not knowing. It would drive me insane with all the possibilities that could have happened. Death, as sad & hard as it is, is at least final & you can lay your loved one to rest. But not knowing... It would be hard to go on.
Go listen to David Paulides. He has a ton of podcasts out there where he discusses hundreds of cases. I've been listening to Dave for years and have heard pretty much them all. Either that, or buy Dave's books where all the cases are told in detail
I can’t imagine the sheer, pure, absolute *HORROR* of realizing your child has gone missing. I don’t have children, but I don’t think I would ever stop crying until I found them.
That last case of the 4 year old makes me mad. To think that these people are parenting 10 kids and don’t even have the common sense to put the smaller kids in the middle of each parent (one in front and one in the back)so if anything was to happen, then the ones behind them would be able to see exactly what it was. Or if the child took off in another direction they’d know what way to go, but no they put the child near the end. Did I miss something or not? Please let me know
Same. I lose my sh!t when I can’t find my cat inside my locked house and all doors and windows are closed. Imagine not being able to find your own child.

I would've been so pissed if I were the father, you tell me you're taking my kid to the fish hatchery and then take him on some hike that's way too difficult for him only to lose track of him and he's never seen again. So incredibly irresponsible of those people to do that

I just want to make a point. I live in Colorado and used to do the incline fairly regularly. The incline is a massive, extremely steep staircase made out of rail road parts that goes straight up pikes peak mountain. Little kids used to CRUSH that thing like it was nothing. So climbing something that seems difficult or impossible to a grown man really doesn’t surprise me even the slightest tiniest bit.
I've done that incline several times too and it killed me. but toddlers are fearless and are usually on all fours anyway. people just don't realize.. plus those little suckers are fast and interested in everything. I had 4 and they kept me on my toes.
Lol. A friend of mine took a mutual friend's young daughter for a mountain bike and my friend grumbled afterwards about how this little girl literally danced circles around her, talking thie whole time.
Right? These searchers CONSTANTLY underestimate children and it's been proven time and time again that they were so wrong. I wonder how many children died because they didn't expand their search to mildly difficult areas??
This story kills me because they never should have gone on that hike they told Allen they were going to the hatchery . Had they initially said we're going on a hike I think he would have said no .☹️
So do I ! And what about untied shoes ? It's either you tied them or don't put them on. Unting them could cause more problems of balance for him. Yeah and 3 years old is waaaay too young to be in the mountains without holding my hand almost all the time. No way !
Lo Ko this is pretty much how Jason Vorhees died in Friday the 13th (by which I mean half-tarded young people not paying attention to what the kids are doing), freaking idiots! I hope they feel the guilt for the rest of their lives 😡😡😡
I couldn’t imagine taking a 3 year old on a 11 mile hike. Even if they didn’t realize how treacherous it was going to be, you never allow a 3 year old child to wonder off in an area that is unknown and foreign to you.
Now, I have two siblings and one is 4 years old and often we go hiking with my siblings. But that does not mean we are letting my brother (4) run around, me (14) my mom (34) my dad (33) and my grandpa (61) are all keeping a very close eye on my brother . As for my sister she's two but we keep her in a carrier, I can't believe how I, a teenager, keep better watch on a toddler then two groups of people can.

As the father of a two and a half year old the story of Jared is just heartbreaking. I can’t imagine how horrifying that must’ve been. That being said, I’m not letting my son go off with anyone I don’t know well.
When I was about 5 my dads ex (girlfriend at the time) wanted to go out partying and leave me alone with her drunk 18-year-old son and his friends, she said to dad "the world doesn't revolve around her" that was the end of their relationship lol. @@MizzzFizzz That lady had issues. I don't know what attracted your father to her in the first place! She seemed to hardly be a parent to her own child so how did he expect that she would treat you? Also on that note, when you are a parent, while the world may not revolve around your children your life most certainly does. She had her priorities all kinds of messed up. As far as sleep overs are concerned I'm the same way as your father. I was terrified that one of my children would have to go through what either their mother or I went through during our childhoods. Thus there was always a lot of interaction between the two families before I would even consider it. Around about half the time I'd either get bad vibes from one thing or another and/or the other family would find it too bothersome. Presently my daughter wants me to allow her online boyfriend to move from his mother's home in Wisconsin to our home in Minnesota and I'm like; No way! He's on disability, spends all his cash on booze or weed and has anger issues. My daughter is special needs, has the mental/emotional maturity of an 8~12 year old and I'm her legal guardian. Naturally I'm going to scrutinize anyone who tries to get close to my "little girl" with a very critical eye. My son on the other hand prefers to socialize in public during daylight hours and to come home at night. I can count the number of sleepovers he's attended on both of my hands. lol They are 24 and 17 respectively.

I remember watching Jaryd’s case on missing 411 and to see his dad holding Jaryd’s cranium and saying that was the only things left of his son it just broke my heart
I know every parent's worst night mare but even worse still cause of the way Jaryd's remains were found as well so heart breaking and awful 😖 for his father and family 💔
The first story: I’m pretty certain that the father of the missing/deceased child wishes that he had listened to that little whisper telling him to not let the child go. Whenever you hear that little voice of reason listen to it. Never assume that a bunch of strangers will care more about your child’s welfare like that of the actual parent.
I don't think the father did. I think he thought well he will be in a large group so he should be okay. Probably the same way parents feel like when kids go to play at other houses. They don't know who could be coming over to that other house, or when kids go on field trips at school. They know the people who live in the house and the parents trust the school.
Whenever I look after children other than my own, I feel more worry and concern for them because I would feel absolutely horrendous if something happened to them when I'm responsible. I know most people don't think like this but there are some people who actually care about children
Then no kids would ever go to summer camp. To friends cabins for a ski trip. On long distance field trips. I think the most important thing is teaching kids to be as prepared as their age allows, maintain open communication where your kids know you will always believe them, and know who they will be with ahead of time/addresses/phone numbers and then let them go on adventures. Kids need to be aware but they don’t need to live in constant fear. That’s not living.
I mean they definitely shouldn't neglect to search an area or theory for those reasons, but I can understand not being able to believe a small (under 5 in many cases) kid being able to climb a 500 ft sheer cliff or walk 12 miles through blistering cold up hills and through barbwire fences. It's what makes these cases so strange and unexplainable, maybe one freak case of a small child doing it is explainable but with the amount of cases we're talking about, shit really makes no sense.
@@isee1158 This attitude itself is the problem. Children's capabilities for moving over terrain does not lag far behind adults and in todays society is frequently /better than/ an adult because kids are much less affected by our sedentary lifestyle, are smaller and lighter weight, and are generally much more active than their parents. This is simply obvious if you look back at history and look at wandering peoples who still exist: Kids can often keep pace with the adults or even outpace them. They very often have too. So the prevailing attitude that the kid can't possibly have gotten as far as an 'adult' is just deliberate egotism on the part of the adult, is wrong, and leads to kids not being found because the adults aren't searching as far as the /kid/ could have gone, but as far as the adult could.
@@gamlaingabrielchere1755 totally agree. I could climb about anything as a kid. My mom left the side of the crib down because if I didn't want to sleep I'd climb out to play regardless of weather it was up or down, so she figured that was safer to leave down. I also liked to climb rocks and trees. I remember being 5 and climbing until the branches would bounce under me probably 30 ft up. The hard part was always coming back down. I always made it without help, but I remember being scared about it after times.
Yes I was just thinking about my old roommates kid when he was 2-3yr old and that kid could climb, run and roll miles barefoot. Very energetic and brave, this kid had to be watched like 24/7 in fact it’s is why we all cohabitated for so long lol this kid needed a village and I’ve run into a few other kids like him so I know he’s not the outlier.
All of these cases with kids camping that include while walking the youngest kids are all the way in the back baffle me. When I take my kids camping I would never allow toddlers to walk on their own behind me...no matter uow slow they are I will either walk with them side by side or pick them up to go faster. Smh these are just cases of horrible judgment by the adults and parents
@@kylorojen8066: In the Missing 411 cases, I have the feeling that the parents are not their usual selves, just as in the cases where adults go missing there are usually some points where they behave strangely. Whatever is involved in these cases, I think it is able to control people's behaviour, at least to a limited extent - but enough that it/they can abduct people.
resourcedragon that’s a good point. In each of the cases in the whole series, the people make decisions that are strange and seem against their better judgement, as though they didn’t have control over what they do. That’s an interesting idea and it makes sense. Don’t know if it fascinates me more or freaks me out more lol
resourcedragon never rlly thought about that until now, maybe I’ve heard that idea tossed around about something somewhere, but it would make sense. I’ve often wondered the same thing, as to why these parents acted like this. But I chalked it up as most likely them be negligent or they intentionally lost them or murdered them. But this new idea is more plausible when u have cases with parents who don’t immediately tick the boxes of being bad parents
resourcedragon not to come across as rude and dismissive but I think some parents are just irresponsible. Sometimes it leads to the demise of their children. I’ve seen many irresponsible adults so I just chalk it up to that
When I watched Missing411; I broke down HARD when the Father of Jared began blaming Himself..Beating Himself in the Heart.. "I'm Sorry Little Man; I'm sorry."
How could adults be so callous with their treatment of this poor child. As a father if I allowed my son too go with someone and something happened guilt would consume you. It’s our job to keep our kids safe. It’s written in our DNA.
@@bigmacharbingerofthegoodne2105: I've not seen the movie version but I am not surprised that the father felt that way. When I hear about the group deciding to go somewhere completely different I cannot help but think how angry the father must feel about that. I certainly would, combined with self-blame for letting the boy go with them at all.
And I think there's no mystery about "what happened to Jared". Any mountain lion would have dragged him up there with little effort. And the scream they heard? You can really tell every single time if it's a scream of glee or fear or pain if it's not your child? That's BS. I confused a "pain scream" for a "play scream" just last week, and it was a kid I know well. The only adult who correctly recognized it was his mother. He was stung by a bee while playing.
The first story definitely gives abductor vibes, mainly because it seems like Jared was very comfortable around strangers. Him walking up to the fisherman and asking them about bears. And then the group hearing him laugh, like he was playing with someone. Jared very well could’ve been guided away by an abductor(s). That would explain the pants being found inside out.
they could’ve kept the shoes too, and then when he died they brought his remains there and left the shoes; animals couldve drug away most of the bones and the shoes would have looked newer. it would’ve been chance tho that the hikers found the shoes before they were weather damaged, unless the hikers that “found” the shoes were the ones that put them there. they couldve been the fishermen the kid had asked about the bears and made up the story about hiking. perps usually like to insert themselves into investigations.
Weird clothes stuff happens in like most missing 411 cases, same as people vanishing without any trace like scent or infrared heat or marks as if by portal into another dimension.
I was thinking that also but people get upset when you put leashes on children. But ya know what? Let them get upset! Better than them getting snatched or disappearing. I mean it could happen in a mall or something. It only takes a minute!

@Darkfarfetch It's infuriating how stupid police are sometimes. Ridicolous that this stranger happens to find the body miles away from what common sense dictaminates the child would be and a test that's flawed and not even taken as valid anymore is all it takes to rule them out as suspect.s

The problem with “authorities” is they dismiss everything out of their norm. Then a kid ends up in an impossible place and they’re like hmm... guess we were wrong. It’s too late for that kid.
You can’t blame the either. They do that because many times in the past people would make crazy stories and the authorities would go out and see if what they said was true and it wasn’t true. While they were out searching other people actually needed help. To prevent that they don’t go out on unlikely stories.

I can't remember one time when one of my kids pitching a fit made me change my mind and let them have their way. The fastest way to a resounding "NO" is to have a tantrum.
Well I wouldn't. I have two boys and they weren't even left with family until my oldest was 8 and youngest was 5. They stayed with their Aunt for 5 hours. And I called her so many times she turned her phone off. Then I drove back. I don't trust easily. Especially with my babies.
I wouldnt never send my own year old out with anyone and for then to take a 3 year old on a RUGGED hike? What the hell is that about. My ten year old has only been watched by my mother and brother. Its obvious the father deeply regretted this and it was a giant mistake. Its just heartbreaking. Ugh.
As a mother of 3 boys, and one of them is 3, this is so infuriating. Dont ever take someone else's kids to another location without the parent's consent! Especially not an 11 mile hike in the wilderness!! Rip little Jared 😔
to be fair, bloodhounds finding the end of a scent trail doesn't mean they have found a body, scents can be masked or washed away by rivers and other conditions. If they wasted time digging for a body and were wrong that is time they couldn't spend searching elsewhere, so double checking isn't as dumb as it might seem. the really surprising thing is how people are still surprised that 2-4 year olds can move fast through wilderness and climb in harsh conditions by themselves. limiting the search area to how far the *average* kid of that age travels in these cases is obviously still the correct course of action but entirely discarding the possibility that a kid might be able to climb as well as or better than an adult is ignorant.
If the child is picked up and carried the Bloodhounds stop tracking.......they should have brought up an air scenting dog too...here in lreland the Search Dogs are trained for ground and air scent whenever possible, and some (mainly sheepdog mixes) also do cadaver discovery. Im surprised each Park in the USA doesnt have dedicated search dog teams. If l was in charge of a Wilderness Park ld damn sure have a dedicated kennel of ground/air and cadaver search dogs.

First one - What were those people thinking of, letting a 3 year old run off ahead in terrain like that? In fact, never let a young child run off out of sight in any type of terrain: rural or built-up. It doesn't even matter if they know the place really well either. Children of that age are completely unpredictable. They will find play in anything, anywhere, one day preferring to stay with you and hold your hand, the next day quite capable of running off a cliff edge in pursuit of a hovering seagull. You can't take your eyes off them, and you can't give stewardship of them to other people whose child-rearing skills might not be as good as your own. The second case: Alfred never climbed 'either' of those two 500ft heights. I'm betting he was snapped up by a predator tracking the family. I wouldn't be surprised if Alfred didn't even wander off the trail, unsupervised and left further behind, it would be easy for a predator to pick him off- only in this instance it knocked him 'unconscious' rather than killed him outright, and then carried him off up the first height where the dogs later scented him. It's often the way of predators to take their prey to higher ground to eat in peace, just as it's their habit of using such places as lookout posts to spot prey in the first place. (There are several tree stumps in my woods where raptors clearly eat their kills on a regular basis. From a predator's perspective, these stumps give a good view to both look out for prey - and where it can eat without being surprised by another predator planning on stealing/fighting for the kill). Hearing humans coming in pursuit of Alfred, the predator thought it would be disturbed and carried his still unconscious body down, probably taking a different route to the ground maybe picking up the boy in a different position (which explains why the dogs didn't detect any other scent path). Able to carry him easily, the predator took Alfred to the other 500ft height where the boy regained consciousness and was seen briefly by the hiker before the predator dragged him back from the edge of the cliff and killed him outright. The boy's bones will probably be found around there.
No predator capable of climbing would "knock out" prey lagging behind, then quickly and quietly drag it up a 500ft rocky slope. About the only predators with a concept for "knocking out" prey are Primates or Cetaceans. And the only normal predator in that area capable of scaling that rocky slop quickly and quietly would be a puma, which would break the neck of it's prey.
@@AhranMaoDante What about bears? They like to eat their prey alive and they are able to climb. With how hard they can swipe you, it will be easy for them to knock you out unconscious and just eat you right there.
Some of these stories reminds me of the local folklore my grandparents would tell me when I was young. My grandparents were Micronesians and lived on a remote island in the pacific ocean with no electricity with the rest of their sons and daughters(and grandkids). My parents and I lived on a different island occupied by the US military, and a few times a year we would visit my grandparents on their island. At night my grandpa and I would lay on a tatami mat in the yard area and he would retell folklore while we gazed at the stars. One story that I remember in particular was a cautionary tale for children. Its a story about "Demons/Monsters" as the locals understood it, there were two types of these "demons" one good and one bad and they preyed on young children. These creatures had the ability to hide in plain sight, apparently they could shapeshift into trees, animals, rocks, etc. and would single out lone children. If the good "demon" found you, it would spirit you away to its "world" and take care of you for a while before returning you to your people. If the bad "demon" found you it would spirit you away and consume you. I just find it strange that this folklore seems oddly similar to what is happening to these kids in North America, considering the Micronesians live in such an isolated location with its own set of superstitious beliefs.
This is how fae are described too, some people think alien abductions are really just this, what you described, but instead of demons its faeries, and the faerie world they go too
It is perplexing how many mythologies and legends all over the world seem to include a similar presence in forrests. It really makes you think. Tens of thousands of years have gone by where humanity has built up civilizations, where we have slowly lost the need to truly understand the forrests that surround our cities and towns. That I believe is a contributing factor to this phenomenon, another being how much our record keeping has improved in modern times and the fact that records and knowledge from previous ages are mostly lost to us. We as a society put so much stock into the scientific method, most average people seem to neglect the holes, the anomalies, and even basic truths. For as advanced as we think we are, we can't even reliably find a child who has gotten lost in the wilderness. What masters of mother nature we are, for as many tricks we have as humanity; mother nature holds all the cards.
@@ANDYWOUNDSABRXS haha. I don't remember who it was but some explorer dude decided they would split up the islands of the South Pacific into categories based on skin colour/hair texture etc. We are Micronesian: fair skinned and straight hair; Melanesian: dark skin, curly hair and Polynesian: mid tones with straight hair. 🏝🤙🏾
The 1st story reminded me because of some similarities with an other missing child case. Couple years ago a 2 year old girl went missing she lives with her big family on the mountains in a rural area in Turkey..The family was herding animal so they were in rural areas. There was big search for her. She has been found but unfortunately not alive. Similar thing with Jared's case is, the way her belongings were found. Her shoes placed next to each other and her clothes folded and placed neatly on a rock next to her. After a week they found out the killer was the grandfather who was abusing her and may be other grandkids.
As a big David Paulides fan, whose been listening to him for years. It's great that Mr Ballen has taken his work and shown it to a new demographic. People need to know what's going on, how many mysterious unexplained things are happening in the wilderness. No major main media outlets touch this subject. It's being intentionally silenced for some reason.
He has done a great job giving credit to Paulides and his work. Drums up fresh new content for the youngens. Do you by any chance know where I can watch Paulides’ videos? I purchased two of his books internationally because it is impossible to go into a book store and find it here in Aus I had to get them from amazon and just hope for the best. I can’t get enough of these... and yes!! 👏🏾👏🏾 I thought so as well! Why no media coverage and when I found out the forest police people ( idk what y’all call them in USA 😂) don’t even have a data base for the people who have gone missing?? I was floored! So many have gone missing and you don’t document it at all? You don’t investigate? It’s so so strange right?
Klaudia Julius They’re right here on UA-cam. Go to the channel “UA-cam Movies” and search Missing 411. Both should come up. Missing 411 is the first and Missing 411 The Hunted is the second.
Yeah it’s crazy, they put on local news when the person goes missing but after a week or two all news stops and then they usually don’t follow up and never discuss the actual phenomenon and how it is global and happens in clusters in certain areas. They don’t want to alarm people but people should be aware of the dangers of the wildlife, etc in the woods but still enjoy nature but be safe! God bless

Its the part that infuriates me the most, you don't see a child in the woods and just ignore him, wth is wrong with people. I bet they had something to do with it.
I feel I must agree. The only theory I can come up with is that someone overhead Jaryd asking about the bears and followed when he left the fishermen. This person told Jaryd they could take him to see some bears, hauled him up to that outcropping and...
I doubt the men "had something to do with it", b/c if they had, I would think they'd just have denied ever seeing him... but, I agree, it is pretty screwed up that they let the little guy wander back off by himself.
@@JohnjOcampo it is strange that the group of people left Jaryd wander alone in the wilderness. they should be blamed...not the 2 fisherman who saw Jary and the group
I thought this was strange too. Like what if they had said "yeah we saw some bears just south of here!" And then a 3 yr old goes skipping off in that direction?? Weird
Just found MrB last week... how did I live without him? I slept for 6 hours straight after falling asleep to his scary story skillz for the first time since my time overseas...10 FREEKING YEARS AGO!! 1000 thank yous ❤️🇺🇸❤️
Something a lot of people forget is, children at this age know no fear. When they want to climb, they just do it. It is like a drunk person. They just do something and most of the times they don't get hurt, since they know no fear in the state they are in.
2nd story... The cops need more training. When you have gone through all the possible theories, you are left with the impossible. They should have searched where the dogs stopped more thoroughly.
I agree with you. However dogs can be wrong, or pick up different scents. I think cops typically have to search the most logical and simplest areas first. It's easy to say, go look other places as well. But looking other places means to shrink the immediate area search. And they did eventually go up that cliff the dogs led to, but found nothing at that time. I always hate when they don't follow dogs all the way. In another missing 411, they followed a dog 8 miles straight to the missing child.
Seems to be a somewhat common theme in some of these stories. Dog: Here! Here! Went this way! Handler: What!? Bad dog! Impossible! Children can't do this! I need a new dog!
I’m absolutely staggered in these stories. How many “parents” “guardians” etc: let small children lag behind their groups. I just can’t fathom how “responsible” adults are letting a child be at the back of the pack, with nobody looking out for them. They all say “oh, I only took my eyes off him/her for a minute & they were gone” BULL💩 they were behind you & you weren’t watching them.
I ALWAYS think about this in these stories! My daughter (2) has a playroom which is in front of the living room so I can see directly in (it's very safe in there), depending on where I am sitting, and even then, I still go and check on her every 5 minutes and that's in my own house lmao
Kids are adventurous, and fast. It's common for little kids, especially toddlers, to want to wander off. And if you're not watching them like a hawk, they can get away from you in the blink of an eye.
@@kcoker9189 Yeah, it's crazy how you would be inclined to believe children are an easy catch and so even if they get a few seconds of head start you can catch up to them easily and even though it's partially true, they won't outrun you or anything, they are damn quick and will hide. Also, they are determined. They don't second guess themselves in the slightest (especially younger kids). If they've set their mind to do something, they will and they will do it now. If they see a pretty flower in the woods or a cute caterpillar they WILL go toward it and they will go there fast. It will take 10 seconds for them to go down or up in the woods and lose sight of you. Even if you are looking at them every minute or so, it's plenty of time for them to get distracted and off a trail and you basically have to backtrack and hope you see them near the trail otherwise you are in for a bad day or worse. They are like dogs, only slower but also less prone to listen and come back when you call them so treat them accordingly and don't let them out of your sight.
I wrote an almost identical comment. They sure as hell wouldn’t let their child lag behind if that were a suitcase with $1 million in it instead. Shows where their values are. I see it in parking lots and grocery stores and other public places all the time. All that does is scream to the world that they don’t care if their child is taken, and that’s how a perpetrator will see it. Just like in the wild, you let your child wander away from your protection, you can expect a predator to snag it.
True Crime has taught me that serial killers will visit places they have killed someone. Could be the possible killer abducted the boy, climbed up, killed him, took the shoes and revisited years later leaving them there?
That's an interesting theory, only one i've heard that makes sense, there's no way the shoes could've been sitting out in the open for that like with no damage to them, especially white shoes which would certainly get dirty.
Best theory. They would also be watching conferences about the case. In a conference someone said something like, "if only we could find something of him. Even a tooth". Shortly after they found one of his teeth sitting on a log in an area that had been searched multiple times.
his shoes were not tied and we dont know what material they were made out of. I think it was a cat that darted across the trail grabbing him and taking him up. If you have seen footage of big cats you can see how fast they can take prey up and the bones were spread around. Blood and all the gore would be gone after 4 years but the shoes would come off if they werent tied and if they are the plastic kid sneakers they can last. again we never saw photos and heard a third hand at least telling of the story

Strangers or friends, the possibility of people losing your child is high because, in their minds, your child is not their first priority. I was one such case. Went on vacation with my mom's group of friends. I insisted on following my friend when we went into a shopping mall. I got distracted by a toy shop and stood there watching all the toys, the rest of them kept walking and chatting and nobody realized I was gone even when there were around 10 people. Fortunately, I was taught not to panic or move from my position if I got lost. From what my mom told me, I sat at a bench in front of the toy shop for about an hour until they finally found me. I was very calm and said "Oh, you're here, let's go" I was 5 😂

I lose sight of my kid for 40 seconds at a mall and start freaking out. I can't imagine my kid being in the wilderness alone. The potential horrors of this world are almost crippling.
Oh yeah! When my kids were little, I was told by one daycare lady that I was overly paranoid. Well, my kids never got lost, or needed to go to the hospital while *I* was there. There was a man stalking one of our neighbors behind us, so I wouldn't even let the kids outside in the fenced-in backyard unless our chow chow was out too.
My daughter hid from me in a round clothing rack at a mall when she was two and a half. She was beside me and then she wasn’t. It was sheer terror for me until she came out. After that I put a child’s wrist leash on her hand whenever we were in public.
It is sad how as adults we are so distrusting that if someone gave a small piece of information it gets dismissed. Alfred could have been found if they didn't dismiss it right away
no i really doubt that. the scent vanished...that doesnt happen. Like for that to happen it usually means the scent trail is degraded by time/weather which it wasnt, or the person whent rhough a body of water to get rid of that scent which they didnt. scent trails dont vanish like that. ITs like the kid got up there and teleported to the other out cropping or something crazy like that
Listening to this, I remembered the fact that a lot of big cats like to carry/drag their prey to their favorite spots to eat them. They sometimes carry them many miles and even into trees just to eat in their favorite spot.
Yes and a big cat could have certainly pulled the pants off and them ending up inside out. Then I could imagine that same animal or another finding all those things including the shoes, and licking the crap out of them til they were squeaky clean of any blood or scent
Whenever I see a lone kid as young as Jarrod/Jared, my first thought is, "Who's with this kid? Where're his/her parents?" The group is too careless to just take these young kids to hiking without letting their dad know 🥺
Yeah those fishermen sounded fishy to me. Why would a 3 year old child walk up alone to some strangers to inquire about bears or any such thing. Plus they just let him go, like it was ok to let a 3 year old go alone in a place with predators.
When our youngans were little, folk would tell me i was over protective. I'd tell them to tend to their nest and I'd tend to mine. These stories are but a few reasons why....
Our children told me I was 'square and old-fashioned'. Now they have children and I simply hide my smile when these tell their parents: 'You're so square!' Very satisfactory, altogether ...
I was overprotective when it came to sending my kids with other people... They hated it sometimes. I don't regret it one bit and would probably be worse if I did it over again.
your editing is getting so good! i love listening to your videos while playing video games or drawing- you have a great narrator voice and keep the stories interesting !
These ones about kids make me never want to leave my kids with anyone, anywhere... ever. Like, just sit here with me and let me stare at you endlessly. 😣
Excluding obscure abductions, stories like the first one can best be explained by mountain lions in regions where they are native (such as Colorado). Mountain lions generally avoid adults and groups, but they are certainly known to attack young children, especially when those children are alone. And it's not unusual for a mountain lion to carry a child up a cliff or a tree to eat their prey away from other predators like coyotes and bears. So when a small child goes missing in places like the western USA, and their remains are found in a hard-to access location or far away, those are good signs it may have been a mountain lion.
lol they don't ignore the adults if cubs are around. Saw a video of a hiker that came upon a mother and her cubs. He immediately started walking backwards away from them and the mother kept coming towards him for over a mile. He finally had to slowly bend down and throw a rock at it which caused it to run back to its cubs.
I'm surprised this isn't talked about more. I've never witnessed a mountain lion attack, but having been stalked by one I can tell you we only knew about it after it was long gone. There is lots of stories on this channel about very small children (or their remains) covering large distances or impossible terrain to be found on impossible outcrops or remote caves. Considering: male mountain lions can make running jumps of like 35-45 feet and vertical jump nearly 12-15feet, are an apex predator, known to take small game when it is opportunistic, and their hunting range can extend to a 500 mile area. This is seems pretty clearly to be a cougar moving with its kill.
#2 - Why didn't they send the Bloodhounds to the second outcropping where the hikers saw the little boy appear over the outcropping? Seems like that would be a fairly obvious thing to do, would it not?
When the blood hounds lost the scent, maybe it was a big Bird of prey that picked him up and took him to a nest and that's what the random guy saw up on the cliff.
I honestly hate predatory birds. The way they pick apart corpses or even just how they kill is so gruesome and devious. The nests they build are often times littered with the remains of their victims. I can respect that they keep populations controlled but honestly sooooo disgusting and can't imagine what this kid went thru when eaten alive and picked apart (unless the falcon or whatever did this thing where they let their prey fall to the ground from great height to kill it).
I don’t understand how adults brush off things like this. The adults state they dismissed it bc kids simply can’t do that. Kids aren’t dumb they are capable of way more than we think they can do!
Who else thinks the he is the best storyteller on UA-cam? : meeeeeee omg I love him I can sit hours listening to his vids and draw or do homework or anything in that matter.❤️❤️
I do that whenever I lose something... *"Okay we've look in all the logic places....time to go look behind the microwave that's attached to the wall....YO WTF WHY ARE MY KEYS BACK HERE?!"*
Someone took him up there to "see the bears" and removed his clothes and had all the privacy in the world. Omg I cant even finish that thought. ..........
I worked with big cats such as mountain lions. If u would see how they reacted to children you would know. It explains the inside out pants, not so much the new shoes, but how he got up there. Their attack is quiet, if they get prey by the throat it can’t scream and they carry it off quite far so u won’t see signs of a struggle.
@@theskyworrier Because it's super easy to take off that way. You grab and pull, and they naturally go inside out. To get them out without going inside-out, requires a lot of dexterity. The mountain lion is biting and pulling. It's just yanking them hard.
@@theskyworrier If the kid is being dragged arms first, the ground will pull their shirt and pants down. Shirt will stay on, but pants will com off. If the kid is being dragged by a leg, the pants will either come off or the shirt will ruck up over the chest and back so its around the head. Shirt would probably come off over the head. Branches, twigs, rocks and other things sticking out of the ground can catch on clothing and pull at it, either removing it over time or tearing it up.
I think that's a big part of what makes this channel a lot creepier than similar channels, he presents everything in a way that makes it seem so real and uses the facts of these cases to scare us instead of relying on cheap scares like spooky voices and sounds

I just want to make a point. I live in Colorado and used to do the incline fairly regularly. The incline is a massive, extremely steep staircase made out of rail road parts that goes straight up pikes peak mountain. Little kids used to CRUSH that thing like it was nothing. So climbing something that seems difficult or impossible to a grown man really doesn’t surprise me even the slightest tiniest bit.
for real kids have so much energy and probably would turn the whole thing into a game which makes the time and distance pass quicker
People definitely underestimate kids abilities at climbing.
I've done that incline several times too and it killed me. but toddlers are fearless and are usually on all fours anyway. people just don't realize.. plus those little suckers are fast and interested in everything. I had 4 and they kept me on my toes.

As far as sleep overs are concerned I'm the same way as your father. I was terrified that one of my children would have to go through what either their mother or I went through during our childhoods.
Ikr!
Which makes me believe the father wasnt smart either.
It’s so frustrating when authorities discount evidence because “oh nah kids can’t do that” like hasn’t that been proven wrong too many times?
Was thinking the same... 🙄
Yeah I always wonder whats going on inside their head when they do that.

The first story definitely gives abductor vibes, mainly because it seems like Jared was very comfortable around strangers. Him walking up to the fisherman and asking them about bears. And then the group hearing him laugh, like he was playing with someone. Jared very well could’ve been guided away by an abductor(s). That would explain the pants being found inside out.
damn...horrifyingly true..
they could’ve kept the shoes too, and then when he died they brought his remains there and left the shoes; animals couldve drug away most of the bones and the shoes would have looked newer. it would’ve been chance tho that the hikers found the shoes before they were weather damaged, unless the hikers that “found” the shoes were the ones that put them there. they couldve been the fishermen the kid had asked about the bears and made up the story about hiking. perps usually like to insert themselves into investigations.

“It’s not that WE are wrong....it’s gotta be the BLOODHOUNDS!” -Someone seriously Stupid.
Critical error occurring due to over confidence seems to be a repeating theme with some of these stories...
Dont you wish we knew what the blood hounds knew?
to be fair, bloodhounds finding the end of a scent trail doesn't mean they have found a body, scents can be masked or washed away by rivers and other conditions.

The second case:
Alfred never climbed 'either' of those two 500ft heights.

Hahaha "micronesians" hahaha
No disrespect though.

I wonder if the fishermen that spoke to Jaryd the day he vanished, were questioned in length. It’s really strange that two grown men would let a 3 year old wander off by himself. I went and read about this case and there are many strange things about this. Very sad and disturbing.
Its the part that infuriates me the most, you don't see a child in the woods and just ignore him, wth is wrong with people. I bet they had something to do with it.

@@superpsychonutcase289 You're right. I worked in day care with tots and infants. I don't know why I wrote that. Apologies.
Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains must be the truth.
Went hiking a lot as a young kid with our parents. Dad always was first and mum was last so we would always follow the trail.
This was also our theory. The abductor could also place new shoes up there to commemorate their sickness.
Exactly what I was thinking
Honestly the best part of MrBallen is that he acknowledges his fans his stories are awesome and he uploads like 4 times A week thank you to MrBallen and his anazing team

MrBallen I love your stories I always love to listen to them and I love how much information you put into your stories. And the way you tell the stories are just amazing!
I was very calm and said "Oh, you're here, let's go" I was 5 😂

ya. something wrong here 3 yr old should never be left alone. father dropped the ball here
@Ingrid Garcia it was a tragedy. I get your point. Thanks.
Every time the children are involved I get so anxious and depressed!
ITs like the kid got up there and teleported to the other out cropping or something crazy like that
Mr Ballen, you are the absolute best UA-camr of this format, and quite possibly the best content provider......period.

But that doesn't explain why Jaryd's pants were upside down. Animals obviously wouldn't take the time to do that.
@@bhargavipba inside out not upside down
lol they don't ignore the adults if cubs are around.
You have brought back story telling and incorporated into todays technology brilliantly thank you so much!
#2 - Why didn't they send the Bloodhounds to the second outcropping where the hikers saw the little boy appear over the outcropping? Seems like that would be a fairly obvious thing to do, would it not?
💯
Why didnt they send the dogs on the day he went missing.
My thoughts exactly!!
Because they know, what took him, and allow it to happen, as Paulides, ascribes too occasionally.
@@ricmoffet6843 Why would they allow it if they knew what was going on though?
When the blood hounds lost the scent, maybe it was a big Bird of prey that picked him up and took him to a nest and that's what the random guy saw up on the cliff.
I thought the same thing! I saw a video the other day about kids getting scooped up by birds. It could be possible for sure.
Oh god it's going to be one hell of a bird big

Agree, also gathering a big search party look day and night. They will let them go, seems what ever it is doesn’t want ppl lurking around to long.
Inside-out clothing is super common with kids, regardless. My kid used to always leave all her clothes inside-out every time she took them off.
Why is it that their clothing is usually turned inside out? Im very interested in that.
@@theskyworrier Because it's super easy to take off that way. You grab and pull, and they naturally go inside out.
To get them out without going inside-out, requires a lot of dexterity.
The mountain lion is biting and pulling. It's just yanking them hard.
@@theskyworrier it's like the animal skinning it's prey, wait maybe I shouldn't have said that..
Love the moving backgrounds, it really brings you into the story.
The one other thing I want to say about MrBallen is I like how he doesn’t try to be overly scary
Like Chills? Lol
Chills is laughable and seems super low effort but i like darkness prevails even though they have their own sCaRy voice.
I think that's a big part of what makes this channel a lot creepier than similar channels, he presents everything in a way that makes it seem so real and uses the facts of these cases to scare us instead of relying on cheap scares like spooky voices and sounds
