5:36 Iirc, they don't actually discharge at the same rate. One bud has to be the primary bud for connection to the phone, which uses more power. If two buds are out, they'll automatically switch off between which one is the primary, depending on how much lower one bud is than the other. That's how they keep one earbud from dying way faster than the other.
I don't know why everyone complains about comfort.... I've worn these for 5 hours straight and had no issues couldn't even tell they were there! Most comfortable earbuds I've ever owned, by far!
@@jaysee2213 They hardly stick out at all, in fact that are virtually flush with my ears. I've never worn a motorcycle helmet before, so if they press hard on your ears they may be uncomfortable, as would any headphones is would imagine. However, if there is a least a little space or no pressure put on your ears you'll be just fine! Great review! Small nitpicky question: You said they aren't the best at anything. But wouldn't you say they have the best A.I. assistant integration? (Siri, Google Assistant, Alexa, etc.)
@@obedojeda7002 I received them yesterday. It was about a week and a half from when I ordered, though it'll depend where you order from. I did Best Buy.
It's the best in ease of use because of touch controls, compact case that can be one handed open and close, stable magnets to keep the buds in, and Google Assistant. Even better than the Airpods.
Looks good, but no transparency mode is disappointing. The mic sound quality seems impressive. What about EQ? I don't really care too much about codecs- sound quality and measured latency speaks for themselves.
What I really would like is an EQ Intergrated into their app that can be stored locally on the buds. There are some headphones that can do this. That way it is not device dependent
I'm in the process of returning my pair to the Google store before their 15-day return window closes. I'm surprised no review anywhere online mentions the intermittent disconnection of one or both ear buds when out on a walk or jog. The pixel buds support pages are full of spotty connection complaints. I experienced it myself and nothing is more annoying than running with one ear bud cutting in and out the entire way and wondering if it's worth it to stop and troubleshoot the problem. I suppose one thing is worse than that - knowing that you paid $180 for that problem. Tech support was not much help. Just wanted to share my experience so others know this is a known issue with the buds.
Me and my little brother uses the pixel phones I have the 4 xl and he has the 3 xl. I stil have the go pixel and my broken pixel 2 I haven't gotten around to fixing the pixel 2's screen yet it's not cheap considering how old it is😂😂
For me it’s the design of the case tbh..a part that I cut out of the video was me basically saying “all true wireless earbuds are essentially meh, which is why I turn to the case to decide which one I’m gonna use”
@@SoundGuys Thanks for the respond. I thought they have quite a similar case as well with wireless charging. Does it have more magnet in the pixel buds? Also wondering if the connection method is better in the pixel buds?
I'm wondering if they will add transparency mode and maybe even an EQ at a later date. It seems these should be software/firmware modifications rather than hardware but I guess it's possible that the buds themselves just don't have enough processing power.
I love them. And they actually great for running. I don’t have to fiddle with them at all while jogging. Just great. Only drawback after 1,5h they become uncomfortable. Agreed here. Good review btw
Because the two earbuds serve different functions at different times to maximize battery, one may consume more power than the other. For example on a phone call one will drain more, but once back to streaming music the power should start to level out.
Im considering to buy this for my iphone. I like the design and specs compared to entry level airpods. Would you recommend it for me? How was it when using in iphone? Thank you.
Aa far as I'm aware the bud are supposed to discharge at different rates; at the very least I remember reading about that. The notification is correct.
@@mackmccord3743 iirc the buds automatically switch off the role of which one is the primary bud if they're both in use, since that uses more power. They do this to keep consistent battery time between the 2 buds, if one gets too far below the other, it switches the role so the other discharges faster.
My jbl flip 5 has a his when nothing is playing through it and it is very noticeable and that speaker cost way more than these headphones my charge 4 also has a hiss. In all honesty it's supposed to have a hiss but you won't hear it when audio is playing, I read about it on a website but manufacturers try to hide it as best as they can so with that being said just thank god they work couldn't imagine paying $180 for a pair that doesn't work that wouldn't be a fun day😂
I still have the pixel 2xl( I know super old) . Just never felt the need to upgrade yet. Will the integration with the pixel buds 2 and features be the same as with a pixel 4xl?
Why nobody talks about that: 1. The translation is still the same as on pixel buds 1. and just adds one extra step to translate the speech. Also, it is not the live translation as they promised, you have to use your phone which just adds one extra step from using the actual google translate on the phone and also internet( which is not available in all the countries that you're going to travel, excuse me) 2. The google assistant built-in is actually not "built-in". If you connect to a non-google-assistant device such as windows pc your assistant will not work. So the question is how is that different from other buds that just trigger the assistant such as Samsung or Sony? I will tell you, no difference unless you still prefer saying to earbud "Okay Google" instead of tapping on it 3. 5 hours? Seriously? With all that said what are we paying the 179 for? For the broken promises and that click of the case that satisfies the most of us🙄
Can you use just one and leave the other in the case? I often just use one headphone while on the motorbike so I can hear what is going on around me. Also has anyone tried them with motorcycle helmets? Are the comfortable?
I just cant understand why a company with the scale of buying power Google has doesn't offer an option of their TWS earbuds in black. Can someone tell me why they are so low in volume ? My usbc pixal buds are 3 times as loud I've tried everything I can think of the sound is good just acts like it's on 4 or 5 instead of 10
It's overall more compact and you can open the case and take the buds out easily unlike the Buds plus, the vertical case design is A LOT better and easy to use, Google Assistant integration is nice, it has water resistance. I have both and I would have kept the Pixel Buds only if it didn't make hissing sound.
