That second building almost looks like an old church, that is the saddest part of these videos, the churches and the schools. This town looks beyond desolate. I love scary old places but I think I would skip this town. Just from the video it seems haunted by bad luck and no hope. Maybe it's the season, but even the trees seem hopeless. I hate to say it, but the word to describe this poor town is hopeless. Very sad and I'm sure the people there would disagree. Thank you for the video and stay safe!!
Subbed! Love these kinds of videos. While watching, I try to imagine what it looked like when these towns were “ alive “. The people, what they did, the kids playing outside, etc. If only the houses, buildings could talk, the stories they could tell. I also like your format of not talking during the video. It allows the viewer to only focus on what they see. I will definitely be watching all of your videos. Great job!
If towns did not rely on one single industry to support the whole town then this would not happen. Several forms of employment need to be established to keep somewhere going through many years. America seems to fail this simple reasoning and hundreds of places are dying out.
It's sad to see these videos of this town, I was born and raised in Shawnee, our house was next to that church with the blue doors. The house is gone, 50 + years. It's sad 😢
stopped to vist shawnee on my way home from deer hunting trip. not a lot there really, but i did enjoy my short stay, drive around town, ex gf didnt, all she wanted to do was leave. visited the graveyard on top of the hill. that was a interesting climb. thank god for 4whd.
Despite the declining population with about 500 residents now it has absolutely gorgeous countryside, heavily wooded with Wayne national forest nearby. A great idea for that area would be the same done in areas with a decline coal production. Turn it into a beautiful huge all season ATV park ( with strict rules) with riding trails, lodging of cabins & camping areas etc. just like the Hatfield and McCoy riding trails in WV or Ride Royal Blue in TN, and many more. My son who lives about 70 miles from there travels 4-6 hours for riding trails, as there are none like those above in Ohio. Trails such as these completely revitalized those areas, with jobs and infrastructure. Visitors can even ride their ATV’s on the public roads without license’s to restaurants, shops and getting gas. This turned many locals into wealthy businessman.
You weren't kidding about the roads here. Some of the worst I've seen in your videos. And I saw a bus stop shelter! Hard to believe a small town like this even had/has a bus line. This town looks like it has some redeemable features.
Roads are not that bad. People from cold places know ice makes earth expand, therefore making the asphalt expand creating cracks and potholes. I'm in metropolitan area with a population over a million and a half and there are countless worse roads here.
Was once a prosperous small town now a bygone recalling there was wonderful school that is now demolished and now the community has in which resulted into a desolated and squalid area
Great opening shot: “Fun In The Sun Pools.“ Trying to imagine it in its heyday. 🙁
Very sad that too many parts of our country has come to this.😢
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
My home town!!! Wish you could see it for what it is... I love shawnee
I find it to be quite a cool place

Well at least the bar has a handicap ramp
Same way in the coalfields of West Virginia. A mirror image of this.😢
Very much!

A little creepy to not see a person anywhere.😊
It kinda feels like peacefulness to me..
Isn't this where the Shawnee pottery plant was? Love Shawnee pottery. Beautiful stuff. Great vid.
I believe that was in Zanesville. Shawnee probably had a brick plant or two nearby.
The company actively produced pottery from 1937 - 1961 from its location in Zanesville, Ohio.
Shawnee is a classical century old town that went from boom to bust. It was once a coal and railroad town.
Who else gets excited when a new video posts!?🎉😊
Great work Hoods N Hollers, a real eye opener for us folk on the other side of the world, really enjoy your Vids,
Thanks so much for watching!
Hello..Small towns are over looked sadly... Shawnee Ohio could have its possibilities in 2024 ... Thank you again stay safe in your travels 🙏🏽
I would recommend a drone for overhead photo perspective ...better visual of town layout .....and surrounding area.
It'd be interesting to see a video on Wheeling, WV
Wheeling will be up in the near future!
Probably the saddest little town yet...not a single business around or any people for that matter 😢

Hey John I was wondering where ya were. Glad to hear from you! Hope you’re doing better.
I love the brick road.
Creepy ~ Thanks and Blessings 💓.
This is a really good man, keep at it please!
Thanks for watching!
I wonder who owns all those abandoned properties?
The town probably because of unpaid taxes
Many big towns has no room for developement ! Where does the taxmoney go ?

Cool old buildings
It must be really creepy to be living in one of the houses which are still occupied..
Good Lord.😮
looks like a cool western town to me. Sad so much is empty and broken ...
I always think of the families that once lived in these homes or the businesses that failed. So very sad.
I felt oddly freaked out at this one. I don't know why. 😬😳

I saw a lot of this type of decay in New Mexico too, small out of the way towns are slowly dying
Must look alot better at summer !
Those old brick roads will eat up the tires. The roads look nostalgic but should be replaced. That may not happen there though.
Real lively joint that Shawnee
Hello. Could you please tell me what camera you shoot your videos on? Thanks.
Talk about dying out, I’ve not seen a soul walking around in this town yet. Not even a zombie.
Used to love rocky boots........25 years ago
there was a monument/steps where the old church once stood. that was kinda interesting. gave a lil history about it.
The brick roads show how old the town really is .
You weren't kidding about the roads here. Some of the worst I've seen in your videos. And I saw a bus stop shelter! Hard to believe a small town like this even had/has a bus line. This town looks like it has some redeemable features.
I have an American model/toy train called "The Shawnee Express", made by Thomas in the 1940s. I wonder if it is the same Shawnee...
Horrible 😢
Yeh, but I bet the property taxes are nice and low:)
5:40. Is that Bus transit still active
what a shame....some group needs to buy that town and have an auction of house to be renovated and resold.
So weird to see my childhood hometown.
I drove thru this town last year it was strange
It's sad, reminds of "Green Acres" a little bit.
It always looked that way. It looks better than it did in the early 80's. Less derelikt homes. A lot of them have been torn down.
And this place really is in the middle of nowhere
It looks like a videogame dam real life fallout
The cars cost more than the homes???
You need two cameras and do a "split screen" video. Don't care about the road, but seeing the properties on both sides would be nice.
I have multiple cameras running at once. It just depends on which angle comes out best
Gotta be southern Ohio -
I drove through this town once. I was like...people LIVE here? What a shame.
How sad
...so, a blue paint salesman walked into a bar....
Post Apocalypse. No life
I can hear voices from resident evil 4 XD houses kinda remind me of game, they are similar if not same XD

Would love to know how many residents actually live here? Police department? Fire department? Schools?
Das ist wirklich ein Jammer! In den Städten hausen so viele Obdachlose und hier stehen die Häuser leer.
And most of those houses aren't worth fixing
When u gonna do Columbus Ohio
Ohio 💀
Oh my
Just seems people in places like this just gives up and really don't care anymore
Oh lord
Was once a prosperous small town now a bygone recalling there was wonderful school that is now demolished and now the community has in which resulted into a desolated and squalid area
The audio is ASTOUNDING!
All cities like this needs to have the buildings torn down and native plants put back in place or have a land put back to farmland.
CIDADE FANTASMA.
It says a lot when the best-looking building in the town is a tavern.
Those people just wanted to WORK.
Zombie apocalypse ???
You need to remember the US population is declining
