She was so so young. The fact that she passed in the way she did hurts even more. She died the year i was born, so its crazy how much her music could reach people of all ages. RIP Babygirl. We miss you!!
sooo sad DMX was so close to Aaliyah he was never the same along with Damon Dash, Timbaland, and Missy.Losing Aaliyah really effected them RIP Babygirl 💕🕊🕊Miss You
Cameos: Lil' Kim & Missy were very close with Liyah Free & AJ from 106&Park interviewed Aaliyah for her very last interview When Toni Braxton went bankrupt the 1st time, Aaliyah reached out to her to offer her help if she needed it Queen Latifah & Aaliyah were cool Static Major & the rest of the group "Playa" were all cool Tweet did some background vocals for Aaliyah in some songs Ananda Lewis (you thought was Chilli) and Aaliyah were cool. They presented NSYNC at the 2000 VMAs together, been at diff events together, & she usually wore her hair curly but Aaliyah told her she would love to see it straightened and she straightened just for this video as tribute to Aaliyah. I believe the dog in the video is the same puppy that Aaliyah was holding in Back in One Piece LaLa Anthony (you thought was Monica) Rosario Dawson used to date Jay Z. That's probably how her and Aaliyah knew each other becaue Aaliyah was cool with the RocaFella camp Tank sung live & recorded background for Aaliyah & wrote songs for her Nick Cannon met Aaliyah when he was in drag as one of his characters for a TV show
This song was originally for Ginuwine, but once she heard it she called him and got his blessing to re-record it. Apparently she wanted to release it as a single but her label didn’t think it was a “smash record”, so it was left unused until she passed. It peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 and was the 8th best selling single of 2003.
Shows just how dumb these record labels are. Speaking of which, hopefully Aaliyah's bumass uncle allows her music to finally be posted to the streaming sites.
Michael Brown Her twitter account said her estate is talking with record labels about releasing her music on streaming services “in the near future.” I’ll believe it when I see it😅
Aaliyah's passing really took our breath away. It was so shocking. And then to be hit with Left Eye's passing not even a year later it was devastating.
This video definitely hits different knowing that Static Major and DMX are both gone now too🖤🙏🏽... Static Major was a great producer and song writer on many of Aaliyah hits as well as one of her closest friends. He also was featured in Lil Wayne video "Lollipop" and he unfortunately passed a few weeks after that video. And DMX passed around this time last year. Man oh man🙏🏽🙏🏽😔🖤💕
Yes that was Rosario Dawson in the video.Tweet was in the video with the brown jacket and white fur cap at the 2:49 mark. The guy at the 2:23 mark in the red and black moto jacket with the braids is Static Major who was featured on "Loose Rap". He also wrote "More Than a Woman" and "Try Again" plus many other Aaliyah songs as well as songs for other people. If you want a peek into his talents outside of that please react to Playa "Cheers 2 U". He was a member of that group. Also he is on the hook to the song "Lollipop" by Lil Wayne, you can add that to your list as well.
S/O Johnta Austin for writing this, his HS girlfriend was going away to college which is what this song is about! Also the writer of Come over, I don’t wanna etc!
Aaliyah songs: Street Thing(Her vocals on this😍) Throw Your Hands Up(Laid back, cool vibe) The One I Gave My Heart to(Her vocals and the video is top tier) Choosey Lover(you need to the react to the album version where the new school and old school version is combined) Young Nation(her swag on this one is crazy) Don’t Know What to Tell Ya(Lyrics and instrumental👌👌) Hot Like Fire( Production and harmonies) Are you feeling Me? (Swag is insane here too lol)
My wife and I both shed tears when Baby Girl passed. So many memories. I'm 52 now and Aaliyah tracks are still on heavy rotation on my driving playlists. Miss U always.
This song hits me in the feels. Every time. Oh and that wasn’t Chili, it was Ananda Lewis she was an mtv vj, there were a few other video hosts like Free, who were in this video. Not to mention all the other artists like Raphael Saadiq and not to mention, Aaliyah’s brother Rashad.
It really hurts me and makes me angry how young she died . Her career was just popping off she was going to get in more movies and sing with other dope artist and do other things . She was so gorgeous she really was an angle in disguise . It hurts me even more the way she died I hope it wasn’t painful… I hope she didn’t feel any pain in her last moments . It angers me that she really left this world with unaccomplished things she wanted to do . But I’m happy we still play her music and recognize her art and what she did . I was born in 2003 which makes it sad I couldn’t get to meet her… I really wish she was still here I wonder what she would be doing today… I miss her laugh , smile , goofiness , Her style just everything . It’s crazy how she dressed like today world she just the IT GIRL. Literally
I just discovered your channel and I am watching thru so many videos right now and I am so incredibly grateful I found this channel because I relate so much to your reactions and I find many new gems and rediscover old ones. Thank you so much!
My sister was 22 like Aaliyah and my sister was real tall and long and curly hair and she was a dancer she was skinny she was a model ballerina and she had her hair like Aaliyah 😭😭😭😭🩰🙏🏾
In order of appearance you have...DMX, Missy Elliot, Lil Kim, Singer Toni Braxton, TV Host Ananda Lewis, Producer Dallas Austin, Rosario Dawson, Staic Major (in the red jacket) and his friend from the group Playa that they were in together. Static Major was one of THE hottest producers during his time. He passed away a few years after Aaliyah. The next guy in the blue sweater @ 2:33 is Andrea Royo. Next @ 2:38 is TV host Montel Williams, DJ, Rapper, Free who hosted BET's 106th and Park (she was one of the last people to interview Aaliyah, @ 2:43 is TV Host AJ who co-hosted with Free on BET's 106th and Park. @ 2:46 is Singer Jaheem, @2:50 is singer Tweet, Jamie Foxx, @2:56 is Tank who got his start by singing back up for Aaliyah. @ 3:01 is Actor Laz Alonzo, Actress Elise Neal, Radio Personality La-La Anthony, Nick Cannon, Sharissa, Steele & Buckshot, Queen Latifah, Quddus, Keith Perrin & J. Alexander, Big Tigger, and U-God of Wu-Tang Clan. It's a long list but such a wide variety of people who admired this young lady. I remember I was in college and was headed that morning on August 25th. I was in my apartment and decided to turn on the TV and saw the news of her passing. The hard part was 9/11 happened like three weeks later. So I felt that overshadowed really being able to celebrate her legacy sooner. That was a tough year.
That wasn't Chilli. That was Ananda Lewis. She was a host on MTV in the 90sn back when they played music videos. lol The video is a tribute featuring cameos from DMX, Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah, Marie "Free" Wright and A. J., Calloway (From BET's 106 and Park), Toni Braxton, Rosario Dawson, Sharissa Dawes (An early 2000s R&B singer), Montell Williams, Jamie Foxx, Elise Neal, Lil' Kim, Tweet, Nick Cannon, Tank, Dallas Austin, Jahiem, to name a few Missy's not on the background. This wasn't a Missy-written song. Johnta Austin, Ginuwine and Teddy Bishop co-wrote this song fro Ginuwine for his album "100% Ginuwine". But Aaliyah heard the song and wanted it. It was recorded for her 3rd and final album but it didn't make it onto the album. It was released a year after her passing as the lead single from her greatest hits album, which included 6 unreleased songs.
She probably would of put it on her following album in about 2003 or released it following the 9/11 attacks. It’s an amazing record to not officially release.
You should react to Chris Brown ft Aaliyah "Don't Think They Know". It was made post hummus. But it was such a treat to hear her beautiful voice on a new song ❤❤❤❤
This is one and Rock the Boat are two videos I cannot watch with out tearing up. So emotional. Aaliyah's death still hits me hard to this day. Baby Girl is missed.
Aaliyah - The One I Gave my Heart To should definitely be next cause it was written by Diane Warren the queen of songwriters IMO. She also wrote big hits like Have You Ever - Brandy, For You I Will - Monica, I Don't Want to Miss a Thing - Aerosmith among many others.
Aaliyah, Brandy and Monica all came out around the same time with Aaliyah debuting first. Most of the songs after her first album were produced by Timberland & written by Missy( also producing). If you listen you can hear Missy in the background (she sings too)
I know this video came out 4 years ago but I remember clearly the day Aaliyah was called home and although I didn't know her personally her death was a devastating blow to me. I always sleep with the radio on and being 6mths pregnant with my son i slept light. I kept hearing about her death but thought i was dreaming but nonetheless i was crying in my sleep. It was so surreal; and like maybe 2 weeks later 9/11 happened. I love and appreciate being a Gen X kid, but not gonna lie, the nineties was a f**king rollercoaster. Aaliyah was taken way too soon and although im grateful I was able to experience the little time she blessed us with, I would've loved to see how big she could've been right now. I know for a fact she would've been way bigger than Beyonce. Rest in paradise Aaliyah ❤
Thank you for reacting to this. Aaliyah certainly did pave the way for many. Aaliyah and I were born in the same month and year. I was a huge fan to the extent that once she passed, shorty thereafter Ciara came out with her debut single. I couldn't bring myself to appreciate Ciara until recently because I always felt like she tried to dance and sound like Aaliyah, and I wanted to always remain loyal to baby girl. RIP Aaliyah, I'll never forget you!
Aaliyah was just so one of a kind. This tribute and song is one of my favorite. Like everyone said you should check out, “The one I have my heart to”. Another beautiful song. Also, you should check out Destiny Child’s live performance of Emotion at the lady of Soul award show. They pay tribute to Aaliyah. It’s truly heavenly and you’ll feel feels.
the video had all of her close celebrity friends in the industry. her closest friends were timbaland, missy elliott, dmx, lil kim, da brat, genuwine all considered her their little sister. 106th & park/bet/mtv hosts aj and free, big tigga and lala were her friends as well. also in the video: tweet/tank (assocaited with timabland), montell jordan (tv host) and other actors from the wire.
Aaliyah is the only person singing, this song was produced by Teddy Bishop and written by Johnta Austin, this song was done during the sessions for her last album( Tim and Missy were not apart of the making of that album, Tim added the three songs he did after the album was pretty much complete, Tim and Aaliyah were allegedly were not on on speaking terms at the time of her passing) and went un-used until the release of her greatest hits album which was released after she passed.
She was the one that sang on this it’s Aaliyah song! Timberlin was in love with Aaliyah along with everyone else! Missy was her best friend! She’s one of the greats!
Lil kim was in the scenes with missy. The guy with the guitar is her brother Rashad who also did the voice in Queen of the damned because she passed before she could do voice masters.
Jack Reacts You should react to Aaliyah best live vocals video.. You will be pretty shock about her vocal range. Aaliyah was the Princess of R&B for a reason.
Aaliyah had recorded this in 2000 before her death on August 25 2001 and it's was supposed to be on her third and final album but it was shoved from the album.
It's really not fair she's gone. Three songs of her trigger me every time: this song, Rock the Boat, and I Care 4 U. She should still be here.
Same
It's Whatever is also one that I can't listen to like that. I miss her so much 😢
This song and Rock the boat takes me out. Especially the RTB music video. Such a beautiful video.

Melissa C her last goodbye. It’s beautifully done but so sad knowing it was her last and she passed shortly after the making of it! 😢
She was so so young. The fact that she passed in the way she did hurts even more. She died the year i was born, so its crazy how much her music could reach people of all ages. RIP Babygirl. We miss you!!

Aaliyah, Missy and Timbaland were close. Timbaland fell into a deep depression after Aaliyah's death.
Her death shocked everybody. Just senseless. Didn't have to happen. Rip babygirl. 🎈
Dmx too. He still hasn’t recovered from her death.
It really did, he couldn’t even be in the tribute video they had to use the footage from the one in a million video

The version with Tweet!!! 🔥🔥🔥

Man when they say life isn't fair, Aaliyah, her death still leaves me speechless.
DMX is a real dude.. i remember he did a call in back when it happened on BET and was in full tears where he couldn’t barely speak.

You should react to Aaliyah best live vocals video.. You will be pretty shock about her vocal range.
Aaliyah was the Princess of R&B for a reason.
That wasn't chilli that was Ananda Lewis who worked for bet and MTV back in the 90s and early 2000s
Aaliyah had recorded this in 2000 before her death on August 25 2001 and it's was supposed to be on her third and final album but it was shoved from the album.
No that girl isn’t chilli, She’s Ananda Lewis Aaliyah’s best Friend and she’s the girl from MTV VJ from the 90’s .
Chills every time 😔
Lil Kim is also in the vid in the yellow n black jacket/top with Missy.....beautiful song, beautiful tribute vid, loved the cameos 🌺
This video and song still makes me emotional man. Great reaction
you have to do the one i gave my heart to by her , one of her highest vocal ranges
This has that Loving You by Minnie Riperton vibe to it.
React to Aaliyah- “ The one I gave my heart to “ and “ journey to the past”.
