as someone who fenced when they were younger, the way they portray undyne’s feint-attacks is so rad. if you haven’t heard the word feint used in this context before: a feint-attack is when you convince your opponent to parry in one direction by pretending to attack from there, and then quickly drop your blade under and around their blade in a circular motion so that they swing through open air, leaving their hand wide and guard open. this puts you into a perfect position to attack on their now unprotected, opposite side. it’s difficult to recover once you’ve fallen for a feint because it’s very difficult to get your weapon back across your body in time to parry the actual attack that’s already coming at you on your opposite side. idk, it’s just cool to see game mechanics portray something like that so well, if that makes sense. nerding out about it for a second edit, timestamp of some (yellow) feint-attacks: 17:55

as someone who fenced when they were younger, the way they portray undyne’s feint-attacks is so rad.
if you haven’t heard the word feint used in this context before: a feint-attack is when you convince your opponent to parry in one direction by pretending to attack from there, and then quickly drop your blade under and around their blade in a circular motion so that they swing through open air, leaving their hand wide and guard open. this puts you into a perfect position to attack on their now unprotected, opposite side.
it’s difficult to recover once you’ve fallen for a feint because it’s very difficult to get your weapon back across your body in time to parry the actual attack that’s already coming at you on your opposite side.
