Ali's the man! Great demo and an amazing scale aircraft. It's absolutely spectacular in detail and size. It also maneuvers like an acrobatic plane and is awesome to watch in action.
I've always thought the OV-10 was a beautiful aircraft. Its looks, like the A-10 or the SR-71, are a direct result of its design requirements. So glad to see it faithfully replicated! Can't wait to fly it!
Thanks Stu. I still remember years ago you asking if I would help test fly a huge all composite glider after a show. I think it may have been Rougham. I was was so excited and honoured to be asked.
@@alimachinchy7673 Yes, that was the late Chris Strong's Paritech DG1000 at Rougham and we used John Greenfield's DA150 Decathlon tug IIRC. The radial powered Cmelak would even have had a job hauling that!! I remember even further back with Dad & You at Old Warden and Sandown and Kenley and Hastings and....and.....and Happy Days! :) So great to see what you have achieved in your career and still the same nice guy!

I’ve been around the OV-10 and there’s a reason they call it the SLOW-V-10. The model is definitely faster than the real one. Nice flying, I would’ve crashed five times during your exhibition.
Thank you Ali, for your reply. I just thought that if an engine quit on either side are they close enough to center line to be able to counter act the loss with rudder? I lost a Hanger 9 B-25 that way, even when I reduced power to the good engine it spun in.
You are welcome. I did some one engine testing during development. The OV has such powerful rudders that there was more than enough control to deal with the yaw caused by thrust on one side. I still suggest throttling back the live engine/ motor, it makes it much more manageable.
Thank's Ali, I saw your demo at Top Gun earlier this month and a friend of mine who is a Jet Blue captain was thunder struck by this airplane. I am certain this will be a big seller. Just out of curiosity what part of the UK are you from? I have family in Surry and Cornwall and as soon as this Covid business is over I am going to scurry off and go for an extended visit. I have lived in various areas within the U.K. i moved to the USA from a rural area in Northamptonshire. Cornwall is one of my favourite areas in England.

I just returned to the hobby after a 30yr or so absence so getting used to the modern radio's, electric models and turbines is just like starting over. I am loving every minute of it!

Did like your tactical steep landing from 250 feet altitude. Did you pull it down with full flaps ? It seemed like an autorotation, which we use on helicopters.
I wish I had the reverse feature set up and working on the ESC's. That would make this approach even more extreme. I deploy 70 deg of flap when I am setting up for the approach. Then stall it into the dive to landing.

With electrics or gas are both engines turning the same direction? or can the motors be counter rotating? Does it matter if we use DA35 motors turning the same direction?
Right thrust angle is built into the firewall, so....it would be hard to use counter-rotating. For a large twin with tricycle gear, I don't think you would notice the difference. Look at the take-off on this video - he pretty much puts the pedal to the metal right away, and no issues. I have also noticed no leftward pulling on takeoff. I don't take off short like that, but I don't even have to think about it...no noticeable pulling at all.

You mentionned that it might fit in "Mini Cooper" but need to see it. On the other hand, if you disassemble it completely and take 2hrs on the field before flying, it is nos so friendly. I fear that two K45's will be too much power. This plane was never designed for turboprop so it would require a lot of modification to make any turboprop fit. Also, I am not sure how the covering will work with the heat of the exhausts. I would advise against it. -Ali

It does have a amazing flight characteristics and it looks like it has enough power to pull out of a stall. It is a very lazy slow roll but I'd like to kick in a little down elevator on the top to make it more axle. But of course I'm curious to see how it will handle in it difficult crosswind. What Electric propellers were you using again?
Thanks Victor. We have done a bunch of crosswind testing. Also at the Top Gun scale event, it flew in a reasonable crosswind a bunch. It has great rudder authority. So the limiting factor really is the pilots thumbs I guess.. Props were Falcon 20x10 Ep's from Bobs Hobbys down in Florida.
Mine is substantially slower than this. Ali didn't mention the prop, but I'm using 18x10 (one 12s with Rimfire 1.7). I just ordered some 18x12. I think he must be using x12 or thereabouts to get this kind of speed.

HH did cut a bunch of products, and they also kept a bunch of products. The only reason why they were cut was if they were not selling. It was a business decision and not done to upset the modelers. Or in many cases. The vendors who were making the products were left in a situation where they could not longer continue to supply. If the product was selling and the vendor who made them for Hobbico was willing and able to continue supplying. Then HH carried on with said item. Pure and simple. Regardless to the Hobbico by out. Hangar 9 has been releasing a steady stream of 3-4 models per year over the past 5 years. Ranging from 10cc sport flyers. To 200cc capable scale Giants. I am pretty sure somewhere in the past 5 years we have made a model for most peoples tastes? If not yours. Then I apologise.
Airplane itself is not total function of speed. Install 3 blade, smaller diameter higher picth props and it will be much much faster but wont climb great. Also rc airplane commnities keep makimg same mistake of of installing the engine size that is recommended by manufacturer. I've been installing .95 os engines on .40 size airplane. Many many times. My buddy has old p38 that recommends two .70s. I told him to install two 1.20s. Flies great and climbs insane. You can easy install 2 50cc but you'll have to fly it a bit faster especially on landing. I plan on buying this bronco next winter and I will install 2 50cc engines and I will be the 1st Polak to claim the glory for the highest performance bronco baby. That's right
You cloned Motionrc's model... how about you bring back a classic original "1/4 scale hanger9 cub" and throw a nice L-4 Grass Hopper seam on it, & the extra windows. I believe you had an amazing little model if one made by eflight way back wen... copy the scream and put it on the old ¼ scale cub frame. Man that was a beautiful bird both of them!
Yep. You are exactly right. This is a direct clone of the motion Rc model. Other than size. Construction, shape. Airfoils, wing and tail rigging angles, scale details, color scheme, covering material, hardware, retracts .... etc etc. Yep. You got me. It’s a direct clone! 🤦🏻♂️

I remember wen I liked hanger 9 you know before horizon bought them out and ran them in to the ground... bit those days are in the past and it's clear they can't even come up with there own original ideas anymore. It was started by and has always been owned and run by Horizon Hobby. Judging by the fact that Hangar 9 is releasing planes such as the OV-10 (Amongst others ) I would hazard a guess that the brand has not been "run into the ground" as you put it.. Just some more "facts" for you to digest over the holiday period. Happy Holidays sir !
Didn't know that really though they bought them out like so many other company's, especially when they started slapping there logo all over them and the beloved ¼ scale cub was discontinued... it just seams to me with every brand they slap the horizon hobby logo no matter what it was will either be discontinued in less then a year or the components that made it what it was are gutted for some proprietary closed loop branded trash... but that's just one old RC enthusiast opinion. Fingers crossed I'll live to see the day that ¼ scale cub frame is fitter with a L-4 grasshopper skin and updated motor. But that's well wishing and I really do hope you enjoy the holidays. Oh and a side note what ever happened to all the free updates / upgrades and downloads that were what made realflight the name it was before horizon hobby bought them out and ran all of its loyal customers off my disbanding what was there out of what I'd guess is simply greed! Figured as a fan boy you'd probably know...? Don't forget to enjoy the skys well we can after all your company isn't fighting for them / us leave it to race day quads (RDQ) to have the community's back not some huge company like HorizonHobby...

Impressive behavior and flying
I tried an OV-10 Bronco addon in Operation Flashpoint: Resistance, back in the 2000s. I could dump so much ordnance on a target at that slow speed.

I have flown 4 different power systems on Development models and none of them had counter rotating props. I have seen no need.

Also rc airplane commnities keep makimg same mistake of of installing the engine size that is recommended by manufacturer. I've been installing .95 os engines on .40 size airplane. Many many times. My buddy has old p38 that recommends two .70s. I told him to install two 1.20s. Flies great and climbs insane. You can easy install 2 50cc but you'll have to fly it a bit faster especially on landing. I plan on buying this bronco next winter and I will install 2 50cc engines and I will be the 1st Polak to claim the glory for the highest performance bronco baby. That's right

You cloned Motionrc's model... how about you bring back a classic original "1/4 scale hanger9 cub" and throw a nice L-4 Grass Hopper seam on it, & the extra windows. I believe you had an amazing little model if one made by eflight way back wen... copy the scream and put it on the old ¼ scale cub frame. Man that was a beautiful bird both of them!
Yep. You are exactly right. This is a direct clone of the motion Rc model. Other than size. Construction, shape. Airfoils, wing and tail rigging angles, scale details, color scheme, covering material, hardware, retracts .... etc etc. Yep. You got me. It’s a direct clone! 🤦🏻♂️

I remember wen I liked hanger 9 you know before horizon bought them out and ran them in to the ground... bit those days are in the past and it's clear they can't even come up with there own original ideas anymore. @@multirotormafia2281 Your wisdom about all things RC related is clear to see. Yet. The more you type. The clearer you make it. Horizon Hobby have always owned the brand Hangar 9. It was started by and has always been owned and run by Horizon Hobby. Judging by the fact that Hangar 9 is releasing planes such as the OV-10 (Amongst others ) I would hazard a guess that the brand has not been "run into the ground" as you put it.. Just some more "facts" for you to digest over the holiday period. Happy Holidays sir !
Didn't know that really though they bought them out like so many other company's, especially when they started slapping there logo all over them and the beloved ¼ scale cub was discontinued... it just seams to me with every brand they slap the horizon hobby logo no matter what it was will either be discontinued in less then a year or the components that made it what it was are gutted for some proprietary closed loop branded trash... but that's just one old RC enthusiast opinion. Fingers crossed I'll live to see the day that ¼ scale cub frame is fitter with a L-4 grasshopper skin and updated motor. But that's well wishing and I really do hope you enjoy the holidays. Oh and a side note what ever happened to all the free updates / upgrades and downloads that were what made realflight the name it was before horizon hobby bought them out and ran all of its loyal customers off my disbanding what was there out of what I'd guess is simply greed! Figured as a fan boy you'd probably know...? Don't forget to enjoy the skys well we can after all your company isn't fighting for them / us leave it to race day quads (RDQ) to have the community's back not some huge company like HorizonHobby...
